How did you meet?

I'm interested in hearing your "how we met" stories.
Even if you aren't currently in a relationship with someone I'd like to hear how you managed to meet someone you ended up having a relationship with.

We met in a chatroom. The chat site no longer exists. That was in February 2001. We would chat and send emails back and forth for a few months. We then started talking on the phone and eventually webcam. Because of the age gap and the distance...he was in Australia, me in the states, I figured we were no more than friends and that nothing else further would come of that friendship. However, as time progressed and then the 9/11 attacks happened, our feelings kinda came to the surface during that time. Especially his. He told me he loved me and wanted to see if there was a way we could take it further. He began to make plans to save up money to make a trip to the states and visit me to see if we had any chemistry together that went beyond what we had over the phone.

He made his trip in May 2002. As soon as we met, we hugged, he kissed me and we knew this was the real deal for us. He stayed with me three months and then returned to OZ. December 30, 2002 he made a second trip to the states and stayed another 3 months. during the second trip he asked me to marry him. He had to return to OZ March 2003. In November 2003, I made a trip to Australia to visit him, see his country, his family and friends. We were married in Melbourne January 17, 2004 and I migrated to Australia. We live in Melbourne, with us making a trip to the states as often as we can to visit my kids and my family. We are extremely happy and he is amazing in how much he cares for and dotes on me. I am very lucky. We both are, to have found each other.

Met my sweetie on a game over 2 years ago now...we met and are engaged..he will be here soon!!!!!!!!!! WOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO

My bf and I also met over the internet in Excite Political Chat Room. That was over 4 years ago, now we live together.

I thought you would find a lot of interest in these threads. Every now and then people ask this question and I've included a collection of the the answers received over time.

It's still a great topic (so don't feel bad for starting it) and I love watching people respond. It's a great way to hear some how of our newer members met!

But I thought some may be interested in reading some of the older members stories that may not post here frequently any more in addition. :)

You'll probably see a few of the member's responses a couple times (like mine, lol).

I met my fiance in EQ (Everquest). And we've been together over 2 years and have a daughter together now. :)

My SO and I met playing WoW 1 year ago. We met in person in July at a group event and have lived together ever since. :bgrin2:

Rob is part of the production team for the movie project I'm part of. We started talking, realized we had a lot in common, we began seeing each other long distance, he moved here to be with me, proposed and the rest, they say, is history!

We started talking about 4 years ago in a chatroom. Things became "serious" around Thanskgiving two years ago, and I went to meet him in February of 2006.

All this time later, we're still together. I've moved to where I am 110 miles away, rather than 1100, and I don't regret any part of it. :D

Alec and I tell people we met in a chat room. Honestly...I sent him an email after reading an erotic story he had written. (Feb 2005) He emailed me back and emails flew fast and furious between us after that. We met two months later. (April 2005) He came to visit me another time. (May 2005) Then I went to visit him for a week. (June 2005) Then 6 months after I sent that first email...I moved from Texas to North Carolina to be with him. (August 2005)

2 and a half years later...we got married (Aug 2007) and here we are now! :D

Those of you who do the math will note that we were only together in person for 14 days before I moved here to be with him. I was either incredibly stupid or incredibly lucky...probably a combination of both. :D

We met in our apt. complex parking lot. In the spring he kept working on his car and revving the motor. I can't remember just when but one day I walked over to him as he worked on his car and asked if he was ever going to finish fixing it. The answer was no because it is a stock street-legal race car and they are always a work in progress. Any way as the summer progressed he would always talk to me after I came home from work and eventually one thing led to another. He stays in his apt. and I stay in mine because I have two grown sons who share my apt. with me. My bf does not what my reputation with my sons to be harmed in any way as he is 20 years younger than I am. He only comes over if both my sons are gone. We usually see each other every other week because we work opposite shifts. It is always good when we come together. Have a good week.

We had both been using a forum and IRC chat for about 2 years before meeting in person and falling in love.

I think it's very common these days to meet this way and find that there are years between us.
