It's snowing in Seattle!

We got barely a dusting here this morning...not even an inch and it's gone already. The resorts are making snow so we will be snowboarding and skiing soon (I hope).

But most of us here, as you know, have a love/hate relationship with the snow. We love to complain about shoveling or snowblowing our driveways, the berms that the snowplows leave in front of our driveways, the freezing cold, the trick of driving in it, not to mention that it brings all the tourists up that don't know how to drive in it (but think they do!).

But it's so beautiful outside when there's snow. And there is nothing like the sound of snow falling in the forest. And the smell of fresh snow on the meadow. And the feel of air in your lungs that has just been microscopically-infused with snow.

*sigh*

I'm glad for being in the NW right now, except for the fact that NONE of them know how to drive in it AT ALLl! They're all out there crashing into each other despite studded snow tires. There was just a crash on my street... C'mon guys, if you can't drive in it stay home ;) Still, I'll take the snow over the rain ANY day. The dog loves it and I love it!

Can barely see the car here it is snowing so hard... we are really getting a dumping, been snowing since ten am here.. and now blowing..

Looks beautiful! We're getting snow in the Boston area tomorrow night. My snow boots are ready! My dogs love the snow.

Okay, time to fess up: It's snowing over here in my neck of the woods too, and I just embarassed myself behind the wheel. Fortunately no serious property damage was involved.

All I did was slide into a ditch in front of my neighbor's property, but it ticked me off 'cause I'm old enough to know better. I was just a little TOO c0cky as I left the house, telling myself it was no big deal; in fact snow (and ice) on a steep hill IS a big deal for the careless driver. :o

If I had to do it over, I would've started downhill in 1st gear and 4WD until the road leveled out. Fortunately my 4WD got me OUT of the jam I was in. It could've been even more embarassing had I needed to call AAA for a tow out of the ditch.... LOL

Oh well... chuck this into the Dumb-*** File, and move on. Won't make that mistake again. :D

My dad was a light vehicle training driver in the Army... Needless to say, this girl knows how to drive in all conditions... and change a tire... and chain up (not that I need to in my vehicle)... and replace the radiator. (So my dad mighta wished his first born was a boy, but whatever!)

Driving in Tahoe and Pokey and Utah was good training too. The Seattlites definitely left their brains at home today. They were pulling out into oncoming traffic, spinning out, slamming on the brakes. I wished I could've stayed in!

The drivers are the same here in WV when it snows :rolleyes:

Thanks TD... terrible shot of it... I was trying to capture the snow more than the house, but I do love my home. It's 100 years old and full of charm!

I know what you mean....I love my old 200 year old house too.
Now that I know how to post pic's....finally :rolleyes:....I'll post one of mine soon as we get snow.
Right now it just looks kind of bare with all the leaves gone.

Well, it's been snowing here for the last month or so, and right now it's a good 15 inches (I think) of snow here. Plus it's real slippery and dangerous to walk outside. If you want snow, come to Norway in december. You'll get enough for life XD

Oh my! I pretty sure my father in law hates this... (he lives in Tacoma), my mother in law on the other hand is a dork like my husband and I so she is prolly sitting by the window to take it all in!

We still have some snow here.. on top of the ice^^ but it is warm outside and it is more rain than snow... :(

Eh. People that live in northern climes like New England also suck at driving in rain or snow when it's been dry conditions for any length of time. Everyone is always in a hurry and talking on their cellphone. So they drive too fast, are not giving their driving 100% of their attention, then they are driving too close to each other. Lastly, there are too many people in heavy SUV's that take longer to stop, and then the AWD vehicle people that feel falsely invulnerable to the wet pavement conditions because they have AWD... never mind that they are on summer tires still. The majority of cars and trucks I see rolled over or slid off the roads have AWD. It's just not enough if you have the wrong tires on and suck at driving.

first i heard about airing down...makes sense, but i won't do it cause then i have to air "back up". i'll just stick with throwing a bag(or two) of sand in the back. yes, i know but it still helps even though front wheel drive, and i found it invaluable with my piece of crap pathfinder...that thing was useless in 4 wheel drive.

Basically he was saying there are rules to be followed and here they are. My experience was a good reminder how being sloppy or forgetful can cost you your life.

Good deal. What little snow we had is melting away now, but I'm not sure what our local forecast is. I have to check the news at 11:00. :)

we got 18 inches the last two days and now it's turned to rain. oh joy of joys. on top of heavy wet snow knocking down power lines and tree branches, and people sliding into ditches they tell us tomorrow we're on flood watch because it's going up +14c tomorrow so going to work will be fun fun fun tomorrow morning.

I want to move to Aruba.
