Rozie 12-03-2007, 09:44 AM For a million reasons I love this system, but before I jump into a huge dissertation on the pros of the Wii, I'm wondering if there are any other players who enjoy it as much as I do. I spent last night making my "Gingerbread man" Mii for the current Mii contest. This is a lot of fun.
My YM and I are waiting for the CSI game; we love this program and can't wait to play simultaneously on the phone. I'm currently working on Paper Mario; he is near the end of Zelda and finished Paper Mario. One nice thing about playing alone, is that unlike online games you have no obligation to be anywhere at any certain time.
marcy 12-03-2007, 10:02 AM We have a WII and love it! Ours is modded... don't know if that is cool to say here or not (if not Angel will swoop in and spank me). I finished Paper Mario back when it was released. I loved it, super fun game. Dev's currently playing Super Mario Galaxy or w/e and a ton of other games all which either look too hard to me or not interesting to me at all lol!
The kids are enjoying a variety right now too including Mario Party 8... ugh I'm so sick of playing that game I have to sneak by if I see them loading it to avoid getting suckered into another 2 hours of that game. They also really like Playground and My Sim. I played My Sim too and I liked it but grew bored kind of quickly.
The great thing about the WII is how you can play with your family I think.
We also play the PS2 (also modded for us). It seems to me that there is some kind of console constantly booted up at home. The plus side I suppose is that we watch very little television.
joelstrouble 12-03-2007, 04:04 PM We have a Wii :D
So fare I have only played Wii Sports and Raving Rabbids and I love them both.
We also have Zelda-Twilight Princess, Metroid-Prime 3, and Resident Evil 4.. but the last two are purely hubby games...
I wish I had more time to game, but right now work, school and everyday life is taking up all my time :(
(but we are planning to start getting pregnant soon :D then I will have all the time in the world to game :D:D:D)
Rozie 12-03-2007, 10:49 PM If you liked Resident Evil 4, which I beat in the game cube version on my Wii, you'll love Umbrella Chronicles. Its a two player game and my guy plays as the guy and and I play as the chick. I make one hell of a Jill Valentine! But because it is two player, it really doesn't matter of one of us is less than perfect, we can still get through the boss fights fairly easily.
Ok Marcy, what do you mean by modded?
(but we are planning to start getting pregnant soon then I will have all the time in the world to game )
All the time in the world Aina...for nine months!! Lol.
marcy 12-04-2007, 10:36 AM Ok Marcy, what do you mean by modded?
Modded means that the console has been altered by some means (either hardware or software) so that games can be loaded and played from copies rather than purchases.
Rozie 12-04-2007, 11:34 AM So modified in some way...hmmm. And how many times have you or Dev been banned?
marcy 12-04-2007, 11:42 AM LOL from where? ROFL...
Well honestly neither of us have ever been banned from anywhere! Dev is hacker extraordinare... which isn't good I know... but is cheap :bgrin2:
Off topic, but a funny story anyways...
My 9yo plays WoW on my account a little. He has a horde char on different server to mine. About a month or so ago, I login to my e-mail and I find a notice from Blizz saying that my account has been placed on a 48 hour "time out" for bad behavior. I read the whole thing carefully and find that "I" did harrass another player in whisper by saying, and I quote here, "F*** you".
Now... knowing that I would never done this myself and that I hadn't logged into WoW in probably 3 months... I called child number 4 to me. I asked him about this and he said no way Mommy. (note the mommy lol) I don't use that kind of language and I'd never do something like that. (riiiiiiiiight... I was born yesterday so plz do tell me another) I logged into my e-mail and we read the Blizz e-mail together. I tell him did you know that every single thing you do is captured in game? He did not. I say... did you notice that someone whispered "F**** you" only 3 hours ago? He did. Well? Yep it was him (color me shocked ) He was grounded for 10 days from WoW. He hardly plays at all now... which makes me happy. Man I'm not interested in losing my account!
So I was almost banned once :p
entropyembrace 12-31-2007, 06:13 AM There's also a more legitimate reason to mod consoles like the Wii, it lets you play region locked games so you can import titles from Japan for example which haven't been released in North America.
I have a wii and it's not modded. So far not really any good games for it, Big Brain Academy and Heatseeker are okay and wiisports is fun in short bursts, waiting for the stores to restock after Christmas so I can go buy a few of the must have titles.
Rozie 01-01-2008, 09:23 PM What kind of games do you like? I'm loving Super Paper Mario and Trauma Center: New Blood on the Wii. There is something amazing about moving your hands in simulated surgery as opposed to a normal controller.

PS3 is not region locked, you can play Japanese games right out of the box :tongue2:
I have played a Wii, and found it to be more of a novelty than anything. For the most part, the motion controls seem to get in the way more than they help. I haven't seen any true 'motion control', as opposed to 'waggle'.
The only game I would consider for the Wii is Smash Brothers Brawl, and unfortunately one game does not warrant me buying a whole system.
entropyembrace 01-03-2008, 09:03 AM I picked up Super Mario Galaxies and Metroid Prime 3. Super Mario doesn't make much use of the motion control but Metroid Prime does, you use it to aim your gun which is very intuitive, would be even better than using the mouse on the PC if only they didn't use freelook (you can aim without turning the camera so there's an extra axis to worry about over most shooters which gets a little clumsy)
Being able to point and click on things is what makes the wiimote really enjoyable for me to use, it's just that much more elegant than selecting things via the analog sticks on traditional console controllers.
We got one a few months ago, second hand off a friend for $100, with a couple of games! :p They didn't use it, so just wanted to get rid.
Donna isn't really much of a gamer at all, but her ex has one, and when we stopped by for Savvys birthday we had a go on it (played golf) and she thought it was neat. The friend was there at the time too and said she was going to sell hers, so we snapped it up! Didn't really touch it all that much until recently, and now Mario Galaxy is on a lot and I have Zelda. We also have Paper Mario, and Wii Play, but they haven't been opened yet.
When my friends were here a couple of months ago we had a lot of fun on Wii Sports, especially playing tennis.
Haraio 01-03-2008, 03:38 PM If I ever get a Wii, it will be so that I can play Zelda: Twilight Princess^^
Looks very fun to actually use your body movement to control a game character. Is it? :bgrin2:
entropyembrace 01-03-2008, 06:52 PM It depends on the game...Wii Sports, Super Mario Galaxies and Metroid prime are a blast....Shrek the Third just gives you sore wrists. Not sure about Twilight Princess as I havn't played that one but it's one of the highest scoring games on the wii by the reviews I've seen. :)

Out of habit I'm still pressing the button to try and attack sometimes!
I've played it a little bit more, and it's a good game. I'm not sure exactly how far they could have gone with the controls, but about all you really do that's different is you swing to attack, and you aim your boomerangs, slingshots, etc, by pointing at the screen with the controller. So far it doesn't feel a million miles away from Ocarina of Time, which is the last one I played.
It's also pretty handy to have a lot of buttons spare to use.
Mr.Chef 04-30-2008, 03:15 PM I have a Wii! love it.
I just bought the 'Mario Kart wii' game the first day it came out on Monday. Its awesome! anyone have it? you put your Wii controller in a wheel and its like your actually driving. You can also play online and race against live people from around the world..I think I played that game for about 2.5hrs last night :bgrin2:
sheila4pd 04-30-2008, 05:16 PM We just got a Wii and we like it too. I love Wii Sports for exercise, and House of the Dead for killing bad guys. I know it is not the best game, but it brings back memories of the arcade and how my son and I used to play that until we finally won! That victory cost me $40 in one loooong sesion.
Mshort 05-01-2008, 11:45 PM I have a Wii, but i've only played it like 5 tiems since getting it, which was about an hour after it was released lol. but I'm going to buy mario kart which looks awsome :-)
