Harrison 12-04-2007, 01:11 AM Please send prayers our way in Washington state!!
Our governor declared a State of Emergency due to the storm. Our weekend snow turned into a massive rainstorm. Just had 8.5 billion gallons of water dumped on Seattle, according to local newscast. I feel grateful we still have our power. I saw it flicker a couple times over the weekend and got a little scared.
In our county, nearly 13" of rainwater over a 48-hour period, dumped 20 miles south of us!!! Our sump-pump in the crawlspace has been chugging away like crazy. WOW!
Rivers flooding everywhere...

Harrison 12-04-2007, 01:34 AM I'm safe NOT warm...I need new windows in my house (it's freezing in my room) :(
Oh, I know the feeling. We only recently got central heating in our house and energy-efficient windows in the living room only. Couldn't afford to do the rest of the house.
What we used to do, and I don't know if your house/apt. will allow it, is use a kerosene room heater. It would get NICE & TOASTY wherever you carried it.
The downside was when you had to shut it down. Nasty fumes. Definitely a safety risk w/out a CO detector.
But, ohhhhh, so warm 'n toasty! :)
grumpysgirl 12-04-2007, 01:42 AM Just read that sister called me from vancouver and she could not get to work over in portland oregon! WOW...Will pray hard tonight..
NIGHT ALL LOTS OF LOVES!
zoliepup 12-04-2007, 01:50 AM Bring back the snow!!! Bring back the snow!!!
Harrison 12-04-2007, 01:53 AM Bring back the snow!!! Bring back the snow!!!
LOL!! It did seem a little safer back then, huh? At least we didn't need canoes.... :D
zoliepup 12-04-2007, 01:55 AM My basement is a mess... water, water everywhere :(
I saw some wildly deep puddles today too!
Harrison 12-04-2007, 02:09 AM My basement is a mess... water, water everywhere :(.....
I can empathize! Been there and DONE that, Zolie. Wrecked carpeting and everything. :(
We finally did some remodeling and now have a high-powered pump system that seems to be doing its job so far. I can hear the humming and gurgling as I'm typing...
The "perks" of being The Evergreen State, eh?
zoliepup 12-04-2007, 02:21 AM I keep saying... "At least it's green, at least it's green"
tinydancer 12-04-2007, 05:37 AM Yuck you WA people....stay dry and warm!......And yes.....ship that water down south!
larasteele 12-04-2007, 08:10 AM O, my gosh! Stay safe, Harrison & all! Thinking of you all. :)
Inahnia 12-04-2007, 08:46 AM Inahnia, or anyone else in GA, would you like to come and have some water?? LOL Looks like we got way too much right now.
YES PLEASE!!!
Hope you are all OK. My oldest daughter and my granddaughter live near Seattle. :(
Why in the world can't the dratted rain even out??? I keep wondering every time I turn on my tap whether anything will come out.....
zoliepup 12-04-2007, 11:01 AM We're having a "Pineapple express" storm right now. The jet stream swoops way down to Hawaii and then brings all that warm moisture up to the northwest and just keeps dumping and dumping and dumping. As it goes over the Olympics the clouds undergo ortographic lift and all the water is squeezed out (even more than normally would occur). I prefer when the Pineapple express hits California because that means tons of snow in the Sierras...
This too shall pass, I just hope soon!
scott2075 12-04-2007, 11:17 AM  Wow guys! I hope that you will be ok. It's amazing how it goes from snow to rain! At least with the snow, all you would need is snow shoes, not a canoe!!! (((HUGS)))
I've never hear the "Pineapple Express" moniker before. Good luck to everyone in the PNW!!! Have a dinghy handy.
BellaLove 12-04-2007, 01:40 PM Take care guys and BE CAREFUL! Send some of that rain down here to California! We need it!!

Thanks also, Scotty and Miu. So far, today is overcast but dry and windy. Could still lose power, but I hope not.
goodchild 12-04-2007, 01:53 PM Wow! I'm accustomed to natural disasters, specifically storms and the flooding that comes along with it. I know it is not a pretty situation and I'm praying that Harrison, Zolie and everyone emerge from this with minimal damage. Keep safe everyone:yes:
zoliepup 12-04-2007, 04:58 PM Thanks Goodchild. I haven't been home this afternoon, but so far I have basement flooding and backed up sinks... Keep your fingers crossed!
nluvw19 12-04-2007, 07:02 PM Wow Harrison, we had fires licking at our front door for a week in Cali and now the floods for you. Really sorry to hear it and hope you and yours remain safe and sound.

lynn59 12-04-2007, 08:12 PM Hey Harrison and Zolie. Hang in there and stay safe. It's an awesome place where you live...guess no place is perfect. The weather here near Chicago sucks most of the time! I heard about your situation on the news this morning and actually thought of you Harrison! Zolie I didn't realize you lived in the same part of the country. Hope you guys are okay!

Thanks Lynn. Thanks, JJ and Ariel.
My own community is holding up well - thank goodness we don't live in a flood plain. Our state and Oregon are coming up on TV though. Anderson Cooper 360, for those you who get CNN....
This is still a BIG deal.
Harrison 12-04-2007, 10:00 PM come to florida!
LOL! Easier to pump out and drain one's home than to try and piece a hurricane-strewn jigsaw puzzle back together, dontcha think? ;)
Thanks for the invitation though. :)
urban legend!!!
seriously, we didn't have a single hurricane this year and we only had one little blow last year that never did an thing...
besides, the winter rocks in FLA!
Harrison 12-04-2007, 10:14 PM ....besides, the winter rocks in FLA!
That I will NOT deny. :D
But we have a West Coast [inland] answer to that, ya know?!
It's called Arizona....
Alara 12-05-2007, 10:58 AM Yeah Kat, Florida rocks - where are you? I'm in Tampa
Harrison and Zolie - Seattle is one of my favorite places in the world. If I ever move it will be there. Keep dry and crossing fingers that the Pineapple Express shifts to the south.
zoliepup 12-05-2007, 11:00 AM Thanks Alara and everyone who said kind words of support. I'm going to have to call my insurance today and see what they can do :(
