I gotta share this with you, David's been working some extra hours at this assisted living center, helping the residents learn to play Wii.

They LOVE it. We don't have ours yet, my car pretty well ate up every penny we had to spare this Fall, but come income tax return time, it'll be here.

My son has his, and it's a blast.

Anyway, David's residents play pool, bowl, all that. He's had a hard time with having them remember to take their finger off the controller when they need to, but that's part of the fun, I guess. They plan on having bowling tournaments with the local Senior Citizens Center, which also has a Wii.

It's good range of motion exercise, great for hand-eye coordination, and really gets them involved in something fun.

If anybody ever is looking for a good fund raising project, silly as it sounds, I'd really recommend a Wii for the elderly.

Bella that's awesome!

I love that you got the residents gaming! Tell David that he's totally cool (not that you didn't know that already)!

That is sooo cool! :bgrin2: I can't afford a Wii, but if they put them in nursing homes maybe I will have something to look forward someday. ;)

This was a pleasant little post. I love this gaming system, and one of its biggest selling points is its simplicity. I am like a running commercial for its virtues at work. Whereas systems like PS3 may have better graphics and provide a better "other world" feel to hard core gamers, this system is really designed for group play across age gaps. You can't really lock yourself into a room and plunk yourself in front of a console when you play this system. I like that...I think its a mentally healthier way for kids to game.

:hide: (Waiting for the onslaught from all the PS3'ers.)

Agreed! I'd even add a physically healthier way as well... and it is definately a more family oriented system.
