Shooting in Omaha

There's been a shooting at a mall in Omaha Nebraska.

A lone gunman has taken the lives of 9 (so far), leaving 5 more wounded, he then took his own life.

I hope nobody on Ageless was affected, my heart goes out to the families of the victims.

I had been planning on going there shopping yesterday, but decided to stay in Lincoln.

It's one of my favorite malls in the area.

It makes me very ill.

This kid's friend was interviewed on TV tonight and said, "he wanted to go out in style, and he really did"

That's a very scary atitude to me.

9 people dead so far, that's lots of style.

Wow! That is just scary. I can only imagine how shaken up you were when you heard what happened since you had been planning to go to that mall. Thank goodness you are OK.

This world is a scary place to live in.

Very, very sad...

Terrorism comes from within our own country too, we should always remember that...

Please, let's not give this moron or what he did any more publicity by speaking of it or him! I feel for the families, but it's all over the papers that he wanted to use this to be famous! I say: forget him completely!

I'm glad you stayed home, Bella!!! When stuff like this happens in NE, of all places, it really hits home that the world is NOT the world we grew up in...

I read this on another board:

I knew some one that died at the Omaha mall shooting. There was a woman working there wrapping presents "just because she liked Christmas." I've known her all my life. I dated her daughter when I was 14. She and her bf/fiance/husband have been freinds with my parents since before I was born (I'm 27). I was in her wedding. I had babysat their new daughter when I was 15.
We're still in shock...I don't know what I should feel.
The shooter said in his note that he was always a piece of **** but now he'll be famous. To me he's just a piece of ****.

So sad and Christmas ruined this year for so many. :(

Style my ***. Any nutjob can shoot somebody then pull the trigger on his own self. This is the dumbest thing in the world a person could do.

Now I am an advocate for gun ownership. But I believe in respect for others lives and your own as well as treating the gun with respect for it's destructive capability.

That belief has spawned a responsible gun ownership for 3 generations in my family as well as a respect for all peoples lives.

The gun should be the last option. No one should want to shoot someone. Having to, is another story. This guy never had to.

At first I also thought it was terrorism because he was making a political or ideological point during Bush's visit to the state, but it seems it was just the act of an insane person wanting fame.

It is sad either way. Bella, I am glad you are safe what a near miss, wow!

Turns out this guy had made a death threat against his ex-girlfriends best friend a couple of weeks ago, reported to the police, and ignored. HIS friend is now under arrest for threatening her life last night about talking out about it.

It's not just him, his friends sound like a bunch of whack jobs too, and the police are very worried about copy cats.

The one thing I'll never understand about nut jobs like this guy, you are DEAD, so what good is it to you to be "famous." Get real people!!!! All in selfish acts.

This is so tragic. My heart goes out to the families and friends of the victims. My God, what has this world come to when you can't even go Christmas shopping without having to worry about being shot?! :(

You ever notice how these things usually end with the killer committing suicide? Because they're selfish cowards.

My secretary is from Omaha, and was pretty shook up this AM. She couldn't get through to her aunt and uncle who were shopping there yesterday. Finally, they emailed her this AM, so she was relieved.

Nebraska, go figure. No safety.

Mentally ill people leading lives of quiet desperation are found in every corner of the nation, along with their guns... :(
