Sending many thoughts of peace and love to you and your little one for a speedy and healthy labour and delivery. joelstrouble 12-25-2007, 04:42 AM I hope you are doing well, Emily! I'm so exited to hear everything about the birth wehn you get back to your computer! Geo55 12-25-2007, 04:53 AM I've been following this thread all along. Now that you're in the hospital I'm as "on edge" as if I were there. I'm an uncle of 4, a great uncle of 9, the father of five and a grandfather. I've also joined many friends through the birth of their children. You would think all the experience I have coping with childbirth would make me relaxed during this time. It must be a conditioned response. warm thoughts for you and your child sheila4pd 12-25-2007, 08:42 AM I can't wait until you sign on again and give us the good news. Kristin 12-25-2007, 10:07 AM Congratulations! Can't wait to hear back from you! Polly 12-25-2007, 09:50 PM I followed the thread with moderate interest, then it got to really interested, now it's like Dear God, GET THIS BABY OUT ALREADY!!! :D I just remember feeling like Amina feels, and just wanting it done and over with, like, WEEKS ago, when I was in my last two weeks! LOL RobsGirl 12-25-2007, 10:38 PM Heck, Pol, this kid's going to be ready to take his driver's test at this rate!!! freespirit 12-26-2007, 12:17 AM So...it seems like we are way over the anticipated time frame....for the induction...unless they've put her in that horrible room and forgotten about her, somehow I cant see Em letting that happen......so best wishes Em that its all going well Jo-Admin 12-27-2007, 03:02 AM Em, Im thinking of you. RobsGirl 12-28-2007, 12:35 PM Well, it's probably almost Friday over there so I would assume that he's made his grand entrance in some way, shape or form by this time!! joelstrouble 12-28-2007, 01:32 PM I keep checking this thread to see if Emily has come by and given us some news.. but no, not yet.. Em, you are driving people from all over the world crazy... LOL that will be a story to tell the little one when he grows up: "People from all over the world was sitting there waiting in anticipation for you to be born!" :D tinydancer 12-28-2007, 01:58 PM Ditto, Ditto, Ditto.......... VenusDarkStar 12-28-2007, 02:19 PM All my babies were 2 weeks overdue, per the doctor's calculations. All 3 of them ranged from 8-9 lb. My third child was about 7 years apart from the first one but I still was only 33, so shouldn't be a problem. I was already having some "false labor"...even went to the hospital once. I mean, I had 2 babies prior, so I figured I THINK I know what it feels like? So when I was 2 weeks overdue, my doc wanted to go on vacation and said the baby was getting big so he wanted to induce labor. I was in labor for 12 hours and I was not dilating. I was in a sort of euphoric state and wasn't really feeling the pain....they said I was pale as a ghost. My doctor said he wanted to do a C-section, and I was just wanting to get it over with. So I had a healthy 9 lb. girl, but here I was left with an incision that would take a year to heal. I really believe that everything would have been different if I had not allowed my doctor to play God just for his own convenience. After all, he would not have collected all the insurance money if one of his partners had delivered the baby while he was on vacation. I see all this in retrospect and I have regrets. I would at least get another opinion before you do something that could endanger your life and cause you regret. Best of luck with your new baby! VenusDarkStar 12-28-2007, 02:27 PM Well that's what I get for not coming around for so long and just shooting my mouth off before I read ALL the posts, or I would have known that Em is probably in the middle of having that baby. :o TALLBLONDECUTE 12-28-2007, 05:02 PM By now the baby should be here... Probably a few days old already! Hey amiga, all the cyber madrinas (godmothers) are here waiting to know about "our" little one! :bgrin2: Hope all is well. Nandara Rozie 12-29-2007, 02:46 AM I'm thinking she is surrounded by his family and its probably not the easiest thing to get to her computer and log in. (At least that's what I keep telling myself so I don't worry.) I'll bet we hear something soon. Jo-Admin 12-29-2007, 03:01 AM Yes, I'm sure she has lots of family around and lots going on. On top of which, I've never had a C-section but I'm sure some of you ladies have... If she had to have a C-section, would it take a while to get up and around? sheila4pd 12-29-2007, 09:52 AM Yes, I'm sure she has lots of family around and lots going on. On top of which, I've never had a C-section but I'm sure some of you ladies have... If she had to have a C-section, would it take a while to get up and around? I had a C-section and I was up and around in no time at all, taking care of my son and of the tons of visitors we received. I think that we have to take into account the differnt culture. In some cultures (Panama) they did not let me out of the hospital for 6 days (or was it 7?) because of my c-section or maybe because they wanted more $$$. Also, I do not know if she would have access to internet at the hospital. I wished she would have left her hubby in charge of giving us the news here through an email to somebody. whiterose 12-29-2007, 10:21 AM I think this is one time that no news is probably good news. I'm imagining her with Abdullah in her arms and she is surrounded by her family. I'm sure she'll contact us when she can. Amina 12-29-2007, 02:52 PM Thank you all so much for taking such an interest in the birth of my baby, it has meant a lot to share this journey with all of you... My beautiful, beautiful boy arrived on Christmas morning via "emergency" c-section. We had no other choice, we tried everything with the vaginal labor and it just wasn't happening. My doctors are very thankful that I had a c-section, they said it was one of the most difficult c-section deliveries they have ever done and can't imagine how impossible a vaginal birth would have been. My sweet baby weighed 9.7 pounds (wow!) and was almost 22 inches long - although to me he is so tiny. His APGAR scores were 8/9 and from what we can tell thus far, he is perfectly healthy - thank God. So now, the important part - PICTURES!!! Yep, I'm sure this little blond boy is what everyone was expecting from an Egyptian father and an Italian/European mother, aye? :bgrin2: Introducing Abdullah: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e26/amina315/beautifulboy.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e26/amina315/Araremomentofrest.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e26/amina315/Aboudiinnursery.jpg Amina 12-29-2007, 02:58 PM http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e26/amina315/swaddlebaby.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e26/amina315/gettingdressedtogohome.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e26/amina315/theridehomefromthehospital.jpg Well, I guess that's enough for now! My husband and I couldn't be happier (or more exhausted)...I just got home from the hospital today and will *try* to get a few minutes of rest while this little guy takes a rare moment of sleep. My husband has been amazing, I don't know how I would manage any of this with out him - and of course both of our families couldn't be more thrilled. Thanks for looking! Sorry I didn't see the news sooner (still nursing a hangover here). He's beautiful!!! Amina 01-04-2008, 09:15 AM Thank you all so much for your lovely responses to this thread. It's really wonderful to be able to check in and find such warm words for the baby and I. All is going well, we are all getting adjusted to our new way of life and each day is getting smoother and smoother, thank God. For those who asked, I had the baby in Saudi Arabia, not Egypt...and we are alone, there is no one from either side of our family here - it's just me and DH. My mom is coming on February 3rd and staying for two weeks, I can't wait! We will go to Egypt and America in May, we will stay about one month in Egypt and one month in America as a trio then the baby and I will stay an extra month in America with my family once my husband returns to Saudi Arabia for work. I'm healing very well from the surgery, we go out every night..have some dinner, walk around, etc. I think I'll be totally back to normal in no time, God willing. Thanks again for all of your kindness... and...BABEEEEEES!!! Where the heck have you been woman??? It's GREAT to see you! babes66 01-04-2008, 10:15 AM It's great to see you too! I cant believe my little chipmunk is a mummy! You sound like youre doing great, no family could well be a blessing in disguise, I remember when I had my oldest, feeling totally incompetent compared to my mum and mother in law, and every time I got flustered or the baby cried, one of them would snatch her up and made me feel like a spare limb a lot of the time. This way you get to be greedy and keep Adullah all to yourself for a while:) I'm so happy for you hun, and Streff told me to send a great big hug from him too (((BIG HUG))) I've done a post on the relationship update thread with all my news, but I think I'm back for good this time, so you'll soon be sick of me, LOL! Rob 01-04-2008, 10:18 AM Congratulations on the baby Good to hear you're doing well. Now wasn't it Rob who mentioned from the beginning that he would be a christmas baby? Great guess, Rob!! Yes, I did say that, about a month ago? lynn59 01-04-2008, 11:31 AM That is a perfectly beautiful big boy. Congratulations and glad everyone is well. |
