scott2075 12-08-2007, 04:29 PM Shopping is soooo frustrating for me, b/c I want to find the most cool and best gift ever for my budget. I'm one of those people you see in a aisle in the store with 2 of the almost identical items, glancing back and forth deciding which one is better!!! It's the same for birthdays, or anytime I want to give a gift. Its a battle for me. As soon as I make my selection, and walk away, my thoughts are, are you sure thats the right one? Maybe you should get that over there? :banghead: I cannot get a gift without putting alot of effort or thought into it, b/c if I don't, it's pointless, In my opinion.
I wish I could give people everything. I can't and it's frustrating.
I absolutely hate clothes shopping for myself, I like shopping for other people, so I guess it's ok after all. LOL
How are you all with shopping? I hope you don't beat yourself to death like I do. I feel If I ever decide to have kids, they will be really spoiled.
That's another thing I hate when going shopping, there are kids around (that's not the bad part) it's the way the mothers talk to their kids that make me cringe. That's another topic though................
Lily42 12-08-2007, 04:40 PM I think it is great you put thought and effort into your gifts.. Alot of people don't.. I have that trouble with cards for the people I love I usually end up with two because I can never make up my mind... ;)
I wish I could shop, It seems I will have no money for christmas this year, still working on getting Novemeber's rent paid.. My ex got all the decorations, and stuff we have amassed over the last twenty years..
I went to the dollar store today and got them each a stocking, and a chirstmas place mat.. My plan for gifts is --I am going to write each of my boys a love letter telling them all the things that make them truly special, unique, and loved by me and others.. I am hoping this will be something they will keep forever, and remind them that christmas is sometimes about each other, not so much the presents..
Don't you just hate going into crowded stores, and people are sometimes so cranky this time of year..
scott2075 12-08-2007, 04:50 PM ((((LILY))))
Yes. I don't understand why people have to be so cranky and push each other around! I also don't care for the Christmas music blaring from the speakers. This holiday is so commercialized, I wish people would remember what it is for originally. Everything in life is about money. Siiiigh.
You sound like a good mother Lil. I just hope, that if it's the lord's will, that I live to see the day that I do decide to have children, that I do everything that my parents didn't do. I love giving people gifts. It's automatic. Christmas for me is everyday of the year, I don't have to give you a gift b/c of the time of year, rather "just because." It's sad that a lot of people do not understand why I'm like this. :( People have taken a lot from me, yet I quickly forget about it, and keep on giving. People have it much worse than I do. Kindness towards a stranger does more than anyone could imagine. Just by you doing an act of kindness that particular time, could be the turning point in someone else's life.
I pray that you will have a good Christmas with your children.
Lily42 12-08-2007, 04:56 PM You sound like a very sweet person scott, I think that is how it should be christmas every day of the year... thanks for the hugs :bighug: backatcha
We will I am sure my Lord never fails to amaze me..

All you have to do is keep the faith! The good Lord has yet to fail me, but it will never happen.:bighug:
I wish I could do something for you. My heart is breaking knowing this about you...:(
sheila4pd 12-08-2007, 05:13 PM I love shopping for presents. I love giving something different but useful.
scott2075 12-08-2007, 05:18 PM I love shopping for presents. I love giving something different but useful.
Yes! My father has taught me when gift giving, you never give a gift that someone needs. You buy that person what they need, when they need it. Gifts are meant to come from the heart.:)
I also like gifts that can be used.
JennyJen 12-08-2007, 05:51 PM I hate shopping for anyone anytime...its very simple what I do I get everyone to make a list of what they want then I go online and buy it for them (obviously not everything on the list) I just find it so much easier everyone is happy in the end and I don't have to kill myself shopping around and trying to figure out what the hell to get for people!
CabinFever 12-08-2007, 06:36 PM I generally hate shopping and I abhor malls. I do a lot of shopping online.
I did most of my shopping throughout the year this year. Whenever I came across something that seemed perfect for a friend/family member I'd buy it and sock it away in the closet. Now, I've pulled it all out and am wrapping it up. The only person I still want to buy more for is my SO (cause I can't stop myself from giving him gifts through the year), but I mostly know what I'm getting him.
Stocking stuffers are hard though - I love filling a stocking for him, but I have such a hard time finding things that are small and inexpensive but are still useful and thoughtful, not just crap that will be thrown out.
zoliepup 12-08-2007, 06:55 PM Scott, I have the very same problem... two items, almost the same, can't make the decision. I have been agonizing over my SO's gift for about a week now... I waited so long that one of the items is out of stock now
There is a name for it. It's called "Analysis Paralysis" and I've got it bad. Right now I'm sitting here trying to decide what the heck to have for dinner, and if its anything like the last few nights, I'll end up skipping rather than making the decision. *Sigh*
But then again, maybe I'll just get a pizza!
RobsGirl 12-08-2007, 07:38 PM As much as I love Christmas decorations, I hate shopping. Places are so crowded and people are very rude. I try to get my shopping done throughout the year if possible - sales and clearance totally rocks. I fully admit that I'm frugal to a fault.
zoliepup 12-08-2007, 07:43 PM I went with pizza. It's delicious!
Lily42 12-08-2007, 07:46 PM I went with pizza. It's delicious!
:bgrin2: too cute!!!
scott2075 12-08-2007, 07:49 PM Mmmmm....piiiiiiiizza...What did you get, meat lovers?
My favorite pizza is veggie lovers with double sauce.....http://th185.photobucket.com/albums/x116/Mics_chick/th_droolsmiley.gif
I have this problem year round 'though....(As far as shopping goes)
zoliepup 12-08-2007, 07:56 PM Me too Scott... it's horrible! Just going to get cereal or going to the grocery store is hard for me, cuz I just *can't* decide!
I went with sausage and pepperoni from the closest to NY pizza you can find in Washington... It's REALLY good! I always ask for extra crispy so they keep it in the oven a little extra!!!!
Passes slices out to the thread!
scott2075 12-08-2007, 08:05 PM http://th205.photobucket.com/albums/bb25/Taisubasa/th_050604.jpg
Thanks for the pizza, Zolie!!!!! :)
Decisions, decisions. I also have to mess with stuff on the internet alot too. I have myspace and I'm never satisfied with the way it looks so I keep changing backgrounds b/c I can't make up my mind!!!
I've been messing with my signature on Ageless for an hour now, deciding on which one I want on here.
CURSES!!!!
zoliepup 12-08-2007, 08:11 PM I like it right now!!! (Does that help?)
scott2075 12-08-2007, 08:15 PM I like it right now!!! (Does that help?)
Haha...I'm satisfied with it for now....LOL...:tongue2:
Geo55 12-08-2007, 08:20 PM In another thread a while back I mentioned that every day is christmas with me. And so I shop for gifts throughout the year. My bedroom has a couple of large rubbermaid stroage containers designed to fit under the bed, unfortunately my bed is too low! :bgrin2: So the containers are sitting in a corner. They are stuffed with gifts, wrapping paper and bows. Throughout the year I buy cards and gifts as I see things that look like just the right gift for somebody. I also have generic gifts; tools, flashlights (kids love these), pocket knives (a guy can never have too many), ear rings, perfume, body lotions, bubble bath, bath beads & oils. I like to browse antique, second hand & gift stores, I always get ideas there.
One person I had trouble shopping for in later years was my mother. She has everything, and she's picky too. So years ago I started her on a porcelin clown collection. I give her porcelin clowns for xmas, her birthday, etc. I just keep my eye out for porcelin clowns. I have them sitting everywhere in my bedroom. I've also given her a couple of framed pictures of clowns for her wall. She has a special area for the collection in her house. I'm a bit of a clown myself. So when I gave her the first porcelin clown, I told her it would remind her of me everytime she looked at it, and make her smile. It worked.
As a young man I was a superman fan (still am) so when a member of my family can't think of a present for me, they buy a superman themed gift. Below is the result.

So you see, if you have someone who is always hard to shop for, think "collection".
scott2075 12-08-2007, 08:29 PM That's sweet George!! Haha! Collections are a good idea, but I like giving things that are different too.

Don't forget to add this one to your collection.....;)
Geo55 12-08-2007, 08:38 PM I've got it.
Don't get me started on Superman pictures or this thread will go off topic in a big way.

Shopping and frustrating is not a good combination in my world. I looooooooooooove shopping! Can I say that again...I looooooooooove shopping!
I'll usually buy one item in different colors. I have several tops in the same style, only different colors.
Just give me your shopping list and I'll get your shopping done for you.:D Just pray that I don't pass a shoe store, especially when there's a sale going on:bgrin2:
Shopaholic, that's me! I went to Panama in August so I could get some major shopping done(I also met sheila; she's great!:bgrin2:). I returned home with two suitcases of new items, but was still disappointed that I didn't get to do more shopping! Next summer, here I come again Panama, hopefully!
I love shopping! I love shopping!:monkeydance::pianodance::jiggy:

I have the collection thing to only mine are shot glasses!!! (close to now over 300 of them)
It's the one thing I get from friends and family when ever they go away!
scott2075 12-09-2007, 08:29 PM I went shopping with my step-mom today and we had a blast. She has Parkinson's disease so she had to use a wheel chair to not pucker (tire) out so quickly. I tell ya, she's trouble when she gets in the wheel chair, running into things, taking the smallest isles in the mall. We went to Target afterwards where she likes to ride in the electric wheelchair, and I had the joy of watching her drive into a pole in the store with it!!!! :happy0188: She is such a klutz and a wheelchair demon. We couldn't help but laugh uncontrollably. LMAO!!! She's pretty cool. The Cinnabon we ate in the mall obviously made her silly because she would say off the wall things to me. It was hilarious. I had fun today hanging out with her. I'm glad I'm able to make her laugh to the point she almost pees her pants. Don't get me and my dad together, we are a bunch of clowns.:yes::D
Guess Who! 12-09-2007, 11:05 PM Sounds like you had a good time.
Don't throw away your shopping bags!
:) Guess Who!
