Okay, I find that while gaming sometimes the music just bites. But over the years they've really evolved into songs I find myself listening to.
In my car, right now, is the Midnight Club 2 Soundtrack and I find myself bobbing my head to some goofy sounds from the past and today. I remember the days when the Mario Bros. theme and Zelda sound rocked.
Just hearing some of that old music takes me right back to times I spent vegged out beating or mastering a game. Though there are a few sounds I hear and think...how on Earth did I ever withstand playing a game for hours hearing that (I must have turned the volume down, lol)!?!? :p
Do you have soundtracks, music, or silly music (as it mostly was back then) that you find yourself listening to? Have you found yourself listening to different musicians who have been inspired by the same music that inspires you?
I've got lots more, but I wanted to kick off the thread and hear how gaming music has inspired you to listen to groups you wouldn't usually listen to or just get awed by how it inspires others out there!
Enjoy!
DragonForce - Through the Fire and Flames (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3H4liC2sWg) from Guitar Hero 3 - Expert (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-9ao_vOsZkg)
Corporeal - Halo Theme @ E3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBbmgVmZ6SI) (If you don't know the story of Coporeal here it is along with their high school talent show performance check out their background: Background (http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/events/e32007/articles/storybehindcorporeal.htm) & Talent Show Performance (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V_qUpObkCgQ))
Acepella Version of Mario Bros., Mortal Combat, & Zelda (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igWL4aNAR3s) <--- I loved this video because when the audience all laughed at the part I did with the platforms rendition I realized how many adults gamed or watched it, because those are the only ones who would get the reference!
Daler Mehndi - Tunak Tunak Tun (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-bAN7Ts0xBo) If you're thinking that dance looks a little familiar then this should be a good hint for you. Ever wonder what inspired WoW's dances? World Of Warcraft - Dancing (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=066_q4DIeqk&feature=related)
