Kristin 12-13-2007, 11:40 PM OK, I love you all to death, but PLEEEESE :prayer: my name is "Kristin."
That's K-R-I-S-T-I-N
Not Kristen or Kirsten or Kristine or Kris.
I don't know why but that just bugs the beejeebers out of me! :witsend:
Ok, end rant.
Please return now to your scheduled threads! :D :o
Jo-Admin 12-13-2007, 11:46 PM Okay..I'll try to be extra careful. I have a cousin named Kirsten and a good friend named Kristen...and I caught myself calling you Kristen earlier.
Kristin, Kristin, Kristin....By jove, I think I've got it!
JennyJen 12-13-2007, 11:51 PM I think I've always spelled your name right Kris...tin!!!
Kristin 12-13-2007, 11:59 PM I know I'm a spaz - but it's just one of those things, ya know? LOL
Jeremy gets it all the time too - people spell his name Jeremey, Jerome, Jermy. LOL. He's laughing over my shoulder right now. Someone even called him "Jason" at work for 2 years!
I think the worst I've seen for mine is "Christen" now THAT was bad! LOL! :D
joelstrouble 12-14-2007, 12:13 AM Kristin is a very common name here in Norway... Kristin and Kirsten is prononced very different so I don't think I every confused the two... ;)
Jo-Admin 12-14-2007, 12:14 AM People spell mine right, but pronounce it wrong.
My real name is Joanne, and that is pronounced Jo-Ann. For whatever reason, people tend to call me Joanie.
Still, not as bad as my daughter..whose name is Chelsea. ChelSEA (like the ocean...the sea?). Constantly people call her Chel-say-uh.
I didn't think Chelsea was an uncommon name...!!!
Chatterbox 12-14-2007, 12:15 AM OH NO, Kristin, I think I misspelled it! :o SORRY! :)

Well at least since Chelsea Clinton, people should KNOW how to pronounce it. , but it doesn't surprise me, my maiden name rhymes with a well-known location in France - which is how I used to correct people who mispronounced it - and you'd be surprised how many would say, "Huh?"
And who the heck is "Jody"????
Bob's babydoll 12-14-2007, 12:35 AM LOL, I can understand your frustration Kristin. I don't know how many times I've corrected people saying "It's Michele with one L!" But do they listen? Noooo! My name is even spelled Michelle in my yearbook from my senior year of HS.
Well, at least I'm not being called "late for dinner"! :giggle:
joelstrouble 12-14-2007, 12:37 AM I guess most of you wont be able to prononce mine... LOL
Kristin 12-14-2007, 12:43 AM LOL!
What gets me is when people are responding to my post and even quote it and STILL spell it wrong - and my username is Kristin! LOL! :D :p
No big deal really, but after over 3 years I finally decided to say something - especially now that I'm a mod.
If you're gonna yell at me, at least spell my name right!
manofmisteree 12-14-2007, 12:48 AM Oops, sorry Kristen. ;):D
Watcha gonna do...? ban me?
Hehe, You know I love ya KristIn:cool:
Kristin 12-14-2007, 12:50 AM Oops, sorry Kristen. ;):D

Hehe, You know I love ya KristIn:cool:
Oh, you think you're soooo clever! Just you wait.....:p
Strwbrries 12-14-2007, 01:19 AM How about if we make it all Hollywoody like Khrystinn?:p
Bella 12-14-2007, 06:00 AM Try having Frances for a name. Using an I makes it the masculine form, using E makes it feminine. I rarely get the feminine version used.
My own KID can't remember, I is for hIm E is for hEr.

I LOVE the name Frances!!!
whiterose 12-14-2007, 07:11 AM Kristin, I know exactly what you are going through. My name is Katrina and here's just a sampling of how people have pronounced, or spelled, my name over the years:
Katrinka
Katinka
Katarina
Kathleen
Kathleena
Katrine
Katalina
Katharina
Kurtrina
Kristina
Kentrina
I could go on and on.
Now that there was a hurricane with my name, FINALLY, people seem to know how to spell it.
sheila4pd 12-14-2007, 07:20 AM People spell my name Shiela instead of Sheila. But since that is not really my name I just shrug.
However. My REAL name is a long old-fashioned French name (one of the members here in AL has that same name). Try having that name in a Spanish speaking country. I have spent years of my life spelling my name just to have it blotched.
I always wanted to be "Ana".
Still, not as bad as my daughter..whose name is Chelsea. ChelSEA (like the ocean...the sea?). Constantly people call her Chel-say-uh.
I didn't think Chelsea was an uncommon name...!!!
I cannot understand that one at all. Chelsea is really quite straightforward. Maybe it's because I'm English and there's that famous part of London called Chelsea (and the football team)?
I get why misspelling your name is annoying. My surname is constantly misspelt because when you drop a letter it's a herb. :p
LadyInWaiting 12-14-2007, 12:50 PM My own sister cannot (or will not ) spell my name right.
The short version gets mispelled about 8 ways. The full version...oy.
The following is a combination of poor ennuciation, poor spelling and sloppy handwriting...and they wonder why when they called my *name* I did NOT respond
Chevylin Shanelgraph
enough said
tinydancer 12-14-2007, 12:54 PM Hmmm, my daughter "Myan" would probably have a few comments to add :eek:
The Rose Knight 12-14-2007, 01:04 PM OK, I love you all to death, but PLEEEESE :prayer: my name is "Kristin."

I'll endeavor to continue to spell your name correctly! But even of people can't get it right, just remember: a rose by any other name is still a rose.
Daniel
lencarol 12-14-2007, 02:02 PM I have a long first name, and is frequently misspelled from the French version. Has happened so often down through the years, I just let it go and sometimes even spell it the plain old way, just to avoid the hassle.:)
Lovaholic 12-14-2007, 02:17 PM It's normal KRISTIN...I have many friends who have the same issue...Kathy with a C, Noreen not Maureen, Chrissy with a K, Sara with an H, my son Anthony not TONY! My son Domenic, not DOM! My daughter Mia, not Mya!
Happy Holidays Kristin!!!
Dan_Shues 12-14-2007, 03:31 PM So you're name is Kristin, eh?
Okay...
Fine....
From now on, I'm calling you Bruno Vondella McNulty.
Don't like it?
Tough!
christina923 12-14-2007, 04:35 PM how i hate being called christine....
and my daughters
lara
shana
you can imagine what is done to their names
tinydancer 12-14-2007, 04:59 PM Jodey, with an E is no picnic either....oh, I don't really care.....you should hear my last name be butchered!
Chances are, I'll answer to whatever variation people come up with lol:rolleyes:
Jo-Admin 12-14-2007, 07:11 PM My parents started calling me Jody right from the start, which I thought was a boys name. LOL They named me after my aunt Jody, and her real name was Johanna. I guess Joanne was the English version, so they used that instead.
I can't understand them mispronouncing Chelsea either, but the last time we were at the doctor...here came the nurse...
Chel-say-uh!!!
We always just laugh...
scott2075 12-14-2007, 07:18 PM My name is always misspelled and I don't care. As long as I know it's me, it doesn't matter. I don't correct people.
My name is Kasey.
It has been spelled
Casey
Cayce
KC
Kayce
etc....
Has been pronounced "Cassie..." LOL!!!
Kristin 12-14-2007, 10:50 PM I guess because my name gets butchered so much, I'm very sensitive to asking other people how they spell their's.
I used to always forget if Kelley (Mrs. H) had an "E" or not, so I'd just call her Mrs. H or "K", rather than misspell it. LOL!
Kristin 12-14-2007, 10:51 PM So you're name is Kristin, eh?
Okay...
Fine....
From now on, I'm calling you Bruno Vondella McNulty.
Don't like it?
Tough!
That's cool with me, Don! :D
Kristin 12-14-2007, 10:52 PM I'll endeavor to continue to spell your name correctly! But even of people can't get it right, just remember: a rose by any other name is still a rose.
Daniel
My-my, quite the charmer you are, Daniel!
