Okay..I'll try to be extra careful. I have a cousin named Kirsten and a good friend named Kristen...and I caught myself calling you Kristen earlier. :eek:

Jeremy gets it all the time too - people spell his name Jeremey, Jerome, Jermy. LOL. He's laughing over my shoulder right now. Someone even called him "Jason" at work for 2 years!

I think the worst I've seen for mine is "Christen" now THAT was bad! LOL! :eek: :D

Kristin is a very common name here in Norway... Kristin and Kirsten is prononced very different so I don't think I every confused the two... ;)

Still, not as bad as my daughter..whose name is Chelsea. ChelSEA (like the ocean...the sea?). Constantly people call her Chel-say-uh.

Well at least since Chelsea Clinton, people should KNOW how to pronounce it. , but it doesn't surprise me, my maiden name rhymes with a well-known location in France - which is how I used to correct people who mispronounced it - and you'd be surprised how many would say, "Huh?"

Try having Frances for a name. Using an I makes it the masculine form, using E makes it feminine. I rarely get the feminine version used.

Kristin, I know exactly what you are going through. My name is Katrina and here's just a sampling of how people have pronounced, or spelled, my name over the years:

Now that there was a hurricane with my name, FINALLY, people seem to know how to spell it.

People spell my name Shiela instead of Sheila. But since that is not really my name I just shrug.

However. My REAL name is a long old-fashioned French name (one of the members here in AL has that same name). Try having that name in a Spanish speaking country. I have spent years of my life spelling my name just to have it blotched. :mad:

I cannot understand that one at all. :confused: Chelsea is really quite straightforward. Maybe it's because I'm English and there's that famous part of London called Chelsea (and the football team)?

I get why misspelling your name is annoying. My surname is constantly misspelt because when you drop a letter it's a herb. :p

My own sister cannot (or will not :rolleyes:) spell my name right.

The short version gets mispelled about 8 ways. The full version...oy.

The following is a combination of poor ennuciation, poor spelling and sloppy handwriting...and they wonder why when they called my *name* I did NOT respond

I have a long first name, and is frequently misspelled from the French version. Has happened so often down through the years, I just let it go and sometimes even spell it the plain old way, just to avoid the hassle.:)

It's normal KRISTIN...I have many friends who have the same issue...Kathy with a C, Noreen not Maureen, Chrissy with a K, Sara with an H, my son Anthony not TONY! My son Domenic, not DOM! My daughter Mia, not Mya!

My parents started calling me Jody right from the start, which I thought was a boys name. LOL They named me after my aunt Jody, and her real name was Johanna. I guess Joanne was the English version, so they used that instead.
