I work at the bank. A man came to me trying to cash a check he had stolen and altered. The moment I looked at the check I knew that it was not his, I took his Ids, called the cops and turned him in. they took him away but I'm now so scared that he might come in and hurt me. Am I just being paranoid(sp)? oh my gosh I'm scared really scared to even go to work. Please help.

Be extra careful. You know all the advise to avoid attacks. Keep Mace handy. Keep informed about his status with the police.

Isn't there something your job can do to make sure you are extra safe. Or talk to the police and get a restraining order or have the cops that arrested the man who know the story offer you some type of protection. I don't think they should just put him in jail and let you fend for yourself!

what everyone else said. You should also have an Employee Assistance Program where you can get free counselling and maybe you could access that. You are right to alert but chances are the guy will be busy with the attempted fraud charges to worry about getting even.

D/H,

The criminal was trying to pass a bad check, and he did a bad job of it. His crime is not one of violence. There should be some solace in that.

Speak with your branch manager and your security people, let them explain what they do to safeguard their employees. I'm sure you shall find some solace in their professionalism too.

If afterwards you remain feeling uneasy about returning to work, the best recourse shall be to relocate you to a different branch.

I'm taking mace spray to work today. I have told the police, my manager and even the Regional manager that I'm afraid that the guy might come back and do something stupid. But all those people told me it is not going to happen and that does not drive my fear away. Maybe I should have a sit down talk with them and express my fear again.

Thanks for all your support.

It IS scary and your fears are normal. Geo's point makes sense and I would also offer that you were an object he hoped to manipluate, it was not personal.

That doesn't make the fear go away though. So, honor it. Did you have a big cry!!! ???

Not to take anything from your experience, but I will share. I teach high school. I get more virulent ugliness sent at me. I take none of it personally. It's not about me.

This situation was about his s***, not you. BIG PHAT HUG!!!

Hi. I can understand you having this fear. You need to whip it now before it becomes an obsession and that it overrules your life. It can become a phobia.

Thanks so much for all your support I feel much better today. I just hope that my fears will never come true. No, I did not cry, I actually appeared very calm even when he was yelling at me because I kept hi Ids.
