zoliepup 01-29-2008, 04:26 PM is OVER!!!
That's right, we just found out this morning that Chris got a position as a computer programmer at a great company in the Seattle area.
After all the long agonizing months and years (2 years + a little), we will finally be together!!!!
Good things do happen, and I really do believe that all the time/effort/hard-work we've put into this are finally paying off. This is a great career move for him, and I'm really glad we held out for something that was right for his career as well as for us!
Someone is going to have to pinch me, because I feel like I'm living in a dream. He gets here February 16th or 17th, which is the anniversary of the first weekend we spent away together!!!
It's OVER!!!!:monkeydance:
Inahnia 01-29-2008, 04:43 PM AWESOME news!!! So very happy for you both. Now the real fun begins!:D

About time to put up a ticker!
zoliepup 01-30-2008, 12:29 PM Christina- as you well know, I'm on cloud 9. These next two weeks seem long but also very do-able!!!
Alta- gracias amiga... There really are some princes among the frogs!
WR- Thanks, that means a lot from you. I hope you are doing well!!!
DR- Thanks for the kind wishes!
Rob- You were also a mainstay for us. Having closed the distance so recently, I really looked to you for support and advice. In September, year 3 was looming and it felt really bleak... but we hung in there!!! Thanks for being there!
Epona- Soon chica, soon!!!
and Roz- I love the ticker!!! I'm glad you put it up there!
zoliepup 01-30-2008, 08:55 PM Any words of wisdom from those who have taken the leap? We've spent 1 month continuously together a year ago, but other than that this is my first time moving in, first time we'll be a couple in the same place.
jesique 01-30-2008, 09:38 PM Congrats!!!
As for advice...just take it one day at a time. Expect him to feel out of place for a while....the first year is the hardest. Make sure if he's moving in with you...that he has his own space for his own stuff.
Have fun and live every moment and enjoy the fact that you get to be together! :D
Nadine.
Absolutely wonderful news - Congratulations!!
Ideas, um, I know one of the things my b/f (at the time) appreciate was I knew he was bringing some pictures he liked. I had some blank spaces on my wall, so I asked him where he would like to put the pictures up. (didn't do this like right away, we kind of had other things on our minds for awhile ) I think that one thing did more to make him feel at ease, he knew he was 'home' and staying.
My tastes run towards the neutral colors, now I have two very bright and colorful pictures that clash with everything around it. lol But you know what, it's fine, some how it all works!
Only other thing is to have him give you a small pinch every now and then, just so you know it really, really is true! :)
zoliepup 01-31-2008, 02:21 AM Aww, thanks Nadine and Fae. Good advice. It's gonna be hard to relinquish some control over my beautiful little house, but honestly, I think it will be great to have his touch there as well!
Rob- You were also a mainstay for us. Having closed the distance so recently, I really looked to you for support and advice. In September, year 3 was looming and it felt really bleak... but we hung in there!!! Thanks for being there!
:o I'm just glad I can help.
Any words of wisdom from those who have taken the leap? We've spent 1 month continuously together a year ago, but other than that this is my first time moving in, first time we'll be a couple in the same place.
What Fae said. When I arrived I really didn't have a whole lot of stuff, it's not as if you can bring your furniture over, etc! But we did combine our cd's, DVD's, books, etc. In fact, Donna left it to me to reorganise them! I have a few paintings, but they need framing, and the sizes aren't standard (for the US, being bought in the UK), so we're waiting till we have a bit more money to sort them out. We do have a space reserved for one in particular, and I know we will work out the others.
I'll tell you what the one big thing was in making me feel comfortable in this house though... it needed work doing on it! Basically, I have painted most of the rooms myself (we chose the colours between us), made a computer desk and shelves, and been involved in choosing furniture. I've done this since the summer I spent here in 2005, in bits, but mostly since I moved. This has made me feel like it IS my home.
I guess that if your place is already decorated nicely, then that isn't possible, but I would say that you should be prepared to compromise and make changes.
zoliepup 01-31-2008, 10:39 AM I'll tell you what the one big thing was in making me feel comfortable in this house though... it needed work doing on it!
Well that actually is one way Chris can make himself at home! Although the place is decorated nicely, it is 100 years old and needs plenty of work. We plan to put in double paned windows, redo the basement, relandscape the yard, do some fencing and a host of other things that someone who used to work construction (Chris) can do much better than me!
That is definitely a fine way to make this place his and he loves doing that kind of stuff :D
Strwbrries 01-31-2008, 11:36 AM Oooh Congratulations! You seem over the moon, Im happy for you.
As for advice for living together, compromise and more compromise as Nadine said the 1st year is the hardest but it's worth it!
Bob's babydoll 02-01-2008, 05:15 PM whoo-hoo! :monkeydance::fooddance7:
Congrats, zoliepup! :D
oh and advice? Communication is one of the keys to a great relationship!
tinydancer 02-01-2008, 08:15 PM WOW, I don't get down to these parts that much :o
I am so happy for you!!!!
Congrats to you both!!!!
Brightest Blessings, TD
zoliepup 02-01-2008, 08:30 PM Thanks Strw (so hard to type, I tell ya!), BB and TD! We're counting down, and trying to iron out a few of the details (financials etc).
Right now, Highway 5 through Northern California is completely closed for snow, so hopefully weather will improve and the storms will be mild between now and mid February!
zoliepup 02-04-2008, 11:22 PM ***LDR update***
Chris is going to head up here a bit earlier than planned. He'll be here late night Valentine's Day :D
Jo-Admin 02-11-2008, 06:47 AM Wow, only three days to go!!!
How are you holding up? Are you over the moon excited?
Im very excited for you.
tinydancer 02-13-2008, 06:27 PM How awesome....enjoy!
zoliepup 02-13-2008, 06:51 PM Well, I feel a little like vomiting, I suppose!
Part of it has to do with the absolutely overwhelming amount of work I have to do between now and when he gets here. Midterm, meetings, an ER shift, classes, cleaning... I'm going to pack about a weeks worth of things into the next 30 hours. Part of it is nerves... part of it is that he and I haven't had much of a chance to talk in the last week. He's been spending a lot of time with his parents and friends, and now he's in Tahoe where he doesn't get cell phone reception.
Hopefully things settle out well... but yeah, I mostly feel like throwing up!

zoliepup 02-21-2008, 03:47 PM So I know people are wondering...
We've been together exactly a week now. All the "stuff" is moved in and Chris started his new job on Tuesday. Things are settling down to a "new normal" and we are both very comfortable with it. It's hard for me to not want to rush home from work early to be there when he gets home, but I'm so busy that this just isn't possible.
He keeps saying, "We're going to be together for ever, no need to hurry home right now". Still, its hard to fight that impulse!
The best example I can give is that last night we were each sitting at our computers side by side after dinner and the eclipse. I said, "This is my dream come true!"
He turned to me from his deeply engrossing video game and said, "Huh?" (hadn't heard a word I said)
When I repeated myself he hugged me and said, "Yeah, me too!"
And that, in my mind fully represents the transition to a regular everyday super and normal life!
Lily42 02-22-2008, 10:04 AM Awesome Zollie!!!!! :D:D:D
Glad to hear it's going well. :)
sheila4pd 02-25-2008, 10:00 AM *Happy sigh* I am so glad for you amiga!
