This has happened before, but I can't remember how to fix it: I can't get Outlook Express to remember my e-mail passwords. I go to "tools" "accounts" "properties" "security", type in the password, check "remember password", click "apply" and the cursor goes up to and highlights "Pop3" (don't know why), then I click "okay" - reopen the window, and the password isn't there. :(
I'd appreciate help, please!

From quick research, it looks like something has become corrupt in the registry/system file for Outlook...
There IS a fix...but it requires editing the registry or creating a new identity in Outlook Express
Create a new Outlook Express identity
To create a new Outlook Express identity, follow these steps:
1. On the File menu in Outlook Express, point to Identities, and then click Add New Identity.
Or, on the File menu, point to Identities, click Manage Identities, and then click New. The New Identity dialog box will open.
2. Type your name in theType Your name box.
3. Click to select the Require Password check box if you want to set a password for this identity, and then click OK.
4. Click Yes in the Identity Added dialog box. Outlook Express asks whether you want to log on as a new user.
If you click Yes, you will be prompted for information about your Internet connection. If you click No, the current user remains logged on.
Your address book and messages *may* stay under the old Identity...not sure if you can import them in...I haven't used O.E. in a long time.

Thanks, Dan! "Change the registry" is always scary - like trying to clean your ears with a q-tip and puncturing your brain by mistake! :p
Dagnabbit - this makes my blood boil: I'm firewalled, I've got a program that's supposed to stop people from messing with my registry, and programs that are supposed to detect it and get rid of it if it does happen, this just makes my blood boil. I thought something was wrong when Spyware Bot stopped recognizing and correcting the change to the register that Websearch started making for tracking my web activity.
Thanks, for the detailed instructions, Dan - I'm going to back everything up (need to buy some blank CD's first - and then give it a try.
