What's on top of your refrigerator?

I have such a small kitchen, with limited cabinet space, that I end up having to use the top of my refrigerator to put things. So, on top of mine, I have a few decorative items (believe it or not an antique blue and white speckled chamber pot :D ), a cow figurine, a sheep figurine, and a reproduction tin that is shaped like a pool of thread.

But, I've also got 3 boxes of cereal, a box of crackers, a box of rice, a box of macaroni and cheese, my basket of medicine (yes, I'm on so many freaking prescriptions that I had to put them in a basket to keep them together), 2 boxes of Swanson's chicken broth, 1 box of oatmeal, some cat treats and a box of doggy biscuits.

WOW, after typing that all out I can't believe I actually have all that stuff up there!

What's on top of your fridge? I bet most of you have a nice clean fridge top. :)

Wow, WR, you must have quite a large fridge. My kitchen is not small... it is itsy bitsy tini tiny, and so is my fridge. On top of mine, I have a carved wooden tray with placemats. I try to keep everything in cabinets so my little counters are quite bare except for a knife set, a oil/vinager set and a little wooden box... ah... and a Carved Mayan Idol statue I bought in Chitzen Itza, I use Him to press the sandwiches on the skillet, or to crush garlic.

I have Mayan blood so I hope I am not sent to Mayan heaven when I die, because He will be pissed.

1 blank calendar, 1 pkg of snowman peeps :eek: 2 boxes multigrain angle hair pasta(daughter's) 1 snickers with almonds (peanuts not allowed in house---allergy) 2 pkg microwave popcorn and some kind of mini m&m's toy thingy, and a small dustpan and whisk broom combo

Two seagrass baskets full of candles, batteries, light bulbs, pictures, old birthday cards, and other miscellaneous stuff. Since it's all in baskets it looks relatively neat. The front and side of the fridge however, are covered with kitschy magnets that I collect everywhere I go.

I have four big baskets to hold my recycling... cans, bottles, plastic, and aluminum. It looks nice since all the junk inside is hidden.

A spider plant...my housecleaner put it there last time and it looks nice. I move it back and forth between it's previous home near a window and the top of the fridge.

There is a cupboard above our fridge, which acts as the liquor cupboard and also holds the microwave.

There's just enough space in between to put things like a package of bagels and a loaf of bread.

Yes, Sheila, my fridge is one of those big ones. It's a side by side and very deep. Since I have no cabinet over the fridge over my cabinet, I have plenty of room up there. :D

I'm jealous of those of you who have clean fridge tops. :( I need to work on this. I have a hall closet that I keep saying I want to convert to a pantry. Maybe that will be a good summer project for me.

I'm too scared to look but things keep falling down that I thought I had lost or thrown out, so maybe its time to get up there and check it out.....I know somewhere up there is the fire blanket thing, and the pest spray (I can see that)...but as to the rest, its all covered in fuzz so who knows....

Gosh, I have NO idea. I am only 5'2" so out of sight out of mind. I am afraid to look...

On top of my fridge is my collection of covered cheese dishes.. A couple of ornate olive oil bottles (empty) and Ella's (my beloved Chocolate Lab) food and water bowls, even though she hasn't lived with me since Nov '06 I still cannot bear to part with them :( Oh and a fair amount of dust :( My fridge is over 6ft tall and I haven't been able to get up there to clean since this horrid neuropathy hit in '06.

In fact there is a lot of dust in high places now, I have had to learn to live with it LOL

A wicker (???) bowl with potatoes in it, bags of cri... sorry, CHIPS. Another basket that we keep bagels in, and tissues.

Think that's about it. Our kitchen is quite small, but is also ridiculously set up so it doesn't make the most of the space. We'll re-do it when we have the money to, and maybe then we'll have nothing on top of the fridge?

A big sprawling plant, a blue teapot which holds loose coins, a bamboo basket with I don't know what in it..and probably cat kibble!

A large ceramic strawberry shortcake cake holder, a loaf of bread, two bags of chips, a box of crackers, a bag of Goldfish and a strawberry napkin holder. It's kinda crowded up there. . .

We have a cabinet above the fridge...but we do keep Alec's Diet Cokes up there (he drinks them room temp) plus our two red mini coleman coolers for lunch. Sometimes I store an extra 12-pack of Dr Pepper up there before it goes into the fridge too.

In the cabinet I keep my fondue pot...some extra kitchen crap like v-day pot holders and a lobster apron....my new mortar and pestle...some lightbulbs....a bottle of Jamaican run and a wine holder.

Since we are talking about kitchens, I decided to share what my apron looks like. It is easy to wash, and it is a reminder that I may be cooking and doing house work but I am still a sexy woman at heart.

I have a countertop on top of my fridge ;)

I only have a small one in the kitchen, but I do have a big one where I keep all the stuff I don't wan't the kids to get to when I'm not home (yes it does have a lock ;)) and on top of that one I keep a basket with clothes that I never get to wash because it doesn't go with anything else :p

It is just because of my kitchen beeing so tiny where we live now, we don't even have room for a table in there.. LOL

I just wondered because I was surprised that in Romania the refrigerators there seemed to all be smaller, under the counter types. And, likewise, my friend in Northern Ireland says they are there as well. So, I didn't know if that was a common theme across all of Europe or only in certain places.

I just can't imagine how I'd cope with having a small refrigerator, especially since my produce takes up 2 drawers in my refrigerator. :D

The two-door refrigerators here are called American refrigerators. The kitchens are usually small and very few flats in Paris can fit them in. If I bought one of those, it would eat up the whole space in my living room, let alone the kitchen :)

You know I would like to take you all on the marvelous tour of our home... once I have cleaned it all enough to take pics that is and then you could see how small my kitchen are... lol

An old wooden cheese box that I refinished and made into a planter for ferns, a clock in a wood birdhouse frame, a basket for the bread (now with one rye, one cracked wheat, one garlic bagel), a grammer book (so THAT'S where I left it!), and two manekinekos (Japanese beckoning or happy cats).

Also some plaster dust because I am doing some some repair work on a wall.

...hey thats where mine is....covered in dust....could explain the poor progress in the weight loss department that I keep opening the fridge instead of looking at whats on top!!!!

Normally just the bread and maybe some chips would be on top the fridge. We have one of those three-door fridges, where the top door is just an area of the icemaker and maybe some ice cream or something like that.

Anyhow, the other day my icemaker decided to die...so when I looked up there just now there is a loaf of texas toast, a screwdriver (lol), the ice bin and parts of the icemaker....ACK.

My sugar and my basket that my son fills with my potholders which I cant reach because Im short. Sigh. Oh and my backpack food carrier. Which I use for potlucks.

Like Pink, Faith and others....I have a TON OF CRAP on top of my frig....but it is all in 3 baskets that hide it all and make it look organized and earthy:p (NOT organized....I love illusions):bgrin2:

lol at the moment, about 15 cans of tunafish,bread,candles,a few cans of sauce, a bottle of mapel syrup, pancake mix, and a few other random things . considering that my kitchen is only about 6ft by 4ft (you can reach out and touch both walls at once) it ends up being used for extra storage space (and this is an actual house, not an apartment)

I doubt any of you have kitchens like the ones we have in Montreal... it's mostly appartments here with bizarre kitchen arrangements and even weirder bathroom layouts like one cubicle for the toilet, and another for the sink and a tub with no shower. Of course, never more than one toilet in each appartment.

The counter space in the kitchen is kept at a minimum, and shelf space goes up and up and up... i actually need a ladder to get to the top shelf.

Anyway, on the top of my fridge I have my kitchen knives, scissors, lighters and serving trays. We buy bread every morning, so if there are leftovers, I put them on top of the fridge too.

Bathroom layouts in the UK like that are fairly common. My friend is in a house where the toilet is in its own room and the sink and bathtub/shower is in a separate room. Makes sense because if someones having a bath/shower then you can still use the toilet!

Is that what you mean?

In a lot of places in Europe....the bathrooms consist of a toilet and sink....there is a shower head coming off of the sink and a drain in the floor.....no separate shower and it is very rare to see a bath tub!
I cannot tell you how many pairs of socks I got wet b/c I forgot the BR floor was wet :eek:

2 of ours hide on the fridge when the vacuum cleaner is on! The other one runs into the basement.

A basket filled with napkins, small packets of crushed red pepper and parmesan cheese from Round Table Pizza. I have no idea why I save them. They bring new ones everytime my son orders pizza delivered. Also a couple pot holders and a bucket of Sangria mix I really need to make one of these days...yummy

My kitchen is kind of an eclectic mix but I love it....it does need insulation, new floors and ceiling but it will have to wait....

Indeed, that's a lovable and cozy kitchen with a lot of character...

I have a couple jars of change, some air sanitizer, two bottle of vitamins and a bottle of Bacardi. Oh and a lot of dust...hehe. Yea, tops of fridges were made to be used.

I purchased a double door refrigerator a few years back, It's a May tag and I'm terribly disappointed. There is nothing on the top; but the paint is so thin that already it is beginning to rust.

While visiting Switzerland, I was talking with a gentleman about the refrigerator in my apartment. He was a realtor and became so excited to tell he had an "American " stainless steel refrigerator. He actually wanted me to come look!

We're participating in our company's annual Peep Show, which constitutes creating a 3-D collage integrating peeps into the theme. Well, we live two hours from our main office, in snow country, and I'd pay for just a couple/few of them thar snowmen peeps. At this time of the year, I think we're mostly finding the bunnies and chicks.

You can't go 5 feet down the road without seeing a "Keep Tahoe Blue" sticker on a car. It is the town mantra. So, "Peep Tahoe Blue" is our play on the Tahoe mantra for the peep contest.

I'm assuming you're talking about the pollution affecting the lake.

That was an easy way to put it but a lot if it is also attributable to the delivery of 'nutrients' bonded to sediment. As more development happens, more sediment is delivered to the lake, along with nutrient, which creates things like algae. The loss of clarity isn't directly due to pollution.

Lake Tahoe is still bee-yoo-ti-ful, and still has amazing clarity but we're trying to stop the loss and improve, if possible.

Dust...a watch that I could never figure out due to the various buttons (it beeps a few times once a day)..a drawing pad of my daughter's...two boxes of diet/nutritional powder (unopened)..two new boxes of Puffs and a small painted wooden horse (again, my daughter's artwork)..:)

Whey Protein Powder? I like the Chocolate and Chocolate Mint flavor. Mix it with milk with an egg beater and down it after hittin the weights. :)

I haven't done that in awhile, been concentrating on Cardio. I've dropped 36 pounds of body fat percentage in 3 years. I could drop a lot more real fast but it would drive me nuts to try and drum up that much determination. Slow and steady will win the endurance race :)

Once my BF% gets down real good I'll hit the weights again for a clean bulk.
