I don't who posted this comment in regards to the Discussion Thread; but it rings true.

The Discussion Section offered me knowledge from around the world. We were able to obtain views of our Country that really helped expand my political knowledge and caused me to think what I might do as an American to bring about change.

Although, not directly related to Age-Gap relationships, it was always interesting for me to note the approximate age of the poster.

I've felt attacked in this section at times; but always looked for the truth behind the statements. Some people lack communication skills; but they would learn more through experiences on this very site.

It is sad that this valuable section has been eliminated.

Over and Out!

Where is the thread where I brought up the topic of Group Conscience?
Was that edited as well?

I think policy needs to be re-evaluated. I was hoping, just hoping, that the Mods would discuss with the GROUP, and make GROUP CONSCIENCE decisions, however, that doesn't seem to be worth real consideration. I am an idealist...as I have said, I can go elsewhere and do not intend to disrupt the flow here. I have been on other sites where that is what is done and it works. It preserves respect and unity. Isn't that how Groups work?

In my humble opinion, I think the Mods need to take a big breath, step away from the keyboards for a few days and let this self regulate on its own, which it will. I know what it's like when I overmanage because I care so much.....and I do absolutely no good. My two cents. :)

Rebecca, you haven't been here very long. So, just to give you a bit of history, there have been several changes made to the forums over the years based upon "group conscience."

Just to give you some examples:

We implemented a Discussion section so the members could hold discussions with each other.
We developed a Debate section so that members could debate each other
We developed a LDR section so that members in LDRs could receive support
We developed a Pets section for the pet owners
We developed a long-term relationship section for the LTR members
We developed a Poetry and Literature section
We developed a Music section
We developed a Movies and TV section
We added a photo gallery
We went to a single Chit Chat section
We later went BACK to 2 separate Chit Chat sections
We changed the settings so that Sexually Speaking areas are not viewable to non-registered members
We developed the Blog section

All of these came about from suggestions from the members. I'm sure there are countless others that I can't think of at the moment. But, my point is, once you are here for a while, you will learn that we make many of our decisions based upon member input.

However, the ultimate decision about what does/does not happen here rests with Jody and me (the 2 site admin's), and the owners. And, when we get to the point where a particular section/issue is affecting the site and the moderation team, then we may make decisions without discussing them with the group first. And, that is just the way that it is.

But, my hope is that after you've been here a while, you will come to realize that MORE decisions about the site format are based upon member input, than are not.

And, I'm really not clear why you would make the comment about over managing and what that has to do with the decision to close down a section of the boards.

Rebecca, I wanted to add, if you have any further suggestions about the moderation practices here, you would need to PM either Jo-Admin or me.

thank you
