Gabby 03-31-2008, 01:16 PM Secondlife.com is a huge free world and I've been playing there for over two years. I find it fun to see what all the folks come up with, since basically if you can dream it you can build it there. I have had small businesses there and stuff off and on, owned property, met folks and stuff. Even had a bf that was really a younger man cop in OR. I've been a kitty, a fairy, a dragon and other such stuff and was curious if anyone else played there.
Since this is my first post here, I dunno what else to say. Um.....I know, here's my inworld photo...!

JennyJen 03-31-2008, 01:27 PM I've heard a lot about it but I never played it!
Gabby 03-31-2008, 01:52 PM When I get my cable back up so I can play, I'll PM you and can set you up with clothes, etc. :D You should at least check out the website, or, here's a fun video for you to watch...
This is a movie made in Secondlife, and is really very funny!
Lip Flap (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epW2j86VDwA)
JennyJen 03-31-2008, 01:58 PM Sounds good...I'm in!
Gabby 03-31-2008, 02:10 PM Here's another good one Vacation (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EgtGcTHL2dI)
And there's a lot of tutor stuff on You Tube for SL which can help a lot: You Tube SL listings (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=Secondlife&search_type=).
I've met so many intresting folks there, including my last young man, and gone to concerts and stuff...but when we broke up most of my friends were part of a RP we were in as a clan, so can you say AWKWARD? lol, so I thought I'd ask.:tongue2:
Bodhi Tree 03-31-2008, 03:37 PM Been there since November 2006, but I lost interest.
The good thing is that I met my SO there. We both enjoyed being silly with everything that went wrong in SL. Then we started going to live music performances and we still attend them from time to time.
I like all the technical possibilities of actually building 3D worlds. It's quite amazing what you can do.
Here's my avatar

Haraio 03-31-2008, 04:50 PM Me and Nat are there almost every day!^^
Nat has actually gotten a job there, as a model. And I mostly spend my time running and jumping around, and generally making a fool out of myself :bgrin2:
Well, that's what virtual reality is for :tongue2:

tigerlilly5 04-03-2008, 07:33 PM Yes my YM and I both enjoy SL. We have (very carefully) made a few RL friends as well.
We have an art gallery where we show both of our artwork, and a romantic club where we hold events for our friends to get together.
Y'all come say hi! Look me up, Fivebrothers Hutton. Most often found at Club SoulWinds.
We were actually considering starting an agegap group on SL but didn't know who to invite... maybe now we know? lol...
hmm nice ;) you should look me up!! IM me first!!
Oh!!

Bodhi Tree 04-05-2008, 04:28 AM We have a dance floor on the roof of our house (I feel silly saying that :p)
Maybe tonight I'll invite all of you over, I'll ask Peter to join us too :)

Haraio 04-05-2008, 04:41 AM Lol, dancing on the roof? Sounds kewl :bgrin2:

Gabby 04-07-2008, 04:04 PM *cries* My cable won't be up for at least two more weeks and you all are dancing on roofs and what not!
Haraio 04-08-2008, 10:53 AM Bodhi, we'll come and dance on your roof in the weekend^^

Haraio 04-08-2008, 11:01 AM Oooh, a club? We'll go! *puts on the disco clothes* :bgrin2:
tigerlilly5 04-08-2008, 10:31 PM My club is in Monowai... I don't remember the coordinates but the very bottom left corner... I should be there Wednesday and Thursday evening, probably between 5-9pm SL time... there's a fun icebreaker game in the lounge and a funny truth or dare game too (nothing too naughty).
We'd love to meet everyone ;)
Bodhi Tree 04-09-2008, 05:04 AM I hardly ever go to SL anymore and plus been extremely busy, but will definitely visit the club and also organise a parteeee on my roof soon, maybe this WE.
Gabby 04-09-2008, 04:54 PM Weeeeelllll....
It's gonna take me longer than I thought to join you all, which is rude because I brought it up! lol.
But I lost my job yesterday. Office poltics, gotta love them.
Told my boss that I was looking for another part time job to help pay bills, had a dead battery Monday and even though I called in they called and said that due to repeated tardys I'm being let go. Thing is, my friend said that it wasn't anything to do with tardys it was about looking for another job.
Upside: have an interview tomorrow for a job I'm well qualified for, full time, at a buck fifty more an hour.
Belisama 04-10-2008, 07:44 PM Lucent and I met playing Second Life!
Him: Jonno McConnell
Me: Eithne McBride
We can usually be found in Avilion :)
Bodhi Tree 04-11-2008, 02:39 AM Lucent and I met playing Second Life!

We can usually be found in Avilion :)
You must be joking ! Peter and I met in Second Life too :bgrin2:
Belisama 04-11-2008, 08:11 AM *grinz* No, no... definitely not joking, I promise! He and I are entwined both here in RL and there in SL. Wouldn't have it any other way :)
Oh hey, if any of you need anything, Lucent is a scripter and has been dabbling with building too! We work on items together (he makes them and I give him fine-tuning input :P ) and he's made some really cool things, including some funny (kind of gross) items at other people's requests. He says he isn't very good but I'm telling you, every time we go shopping, if I see something I like, he goes, "I can make a better one for you" and then he does exactly that! Except clothes and hair. He hasn't done that yet but, knowing him, he will sooner or later.
Mshort 04-12-2008, 05:10 PM I started a 2nd life character, but I am completely lost. so if anyone wants to show me around I'd love that hehe
Belisama 04-12-2008, 05:55 PM LOL - it can be totally overwhelming when you first get started and I used to spend a great deal of my time showing noobs around. What's your SL name? i'll find you and help you out...
Mshort 04-12-2008, 06:53 PM LOL - it can be totally overwhelming when you first get started and I used to spend a great deal of my time showing noobs around. What's your SL name? i'll find you and help you out...
I'm good question actually.. Its been a while, I think I might make a new character and start fresh lol. i'll let you know when I make it :-)
Lucent 04-12-2008, 07:12 PM What follows is an ever so slightly shopped image from our SL Wedding. You wouldn't believe the circumstances that took place around it.
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/KelleyGreenEyez/JonnoandEithne2.png
(we're on the right)
Belisama 04-12-2008, 07:32 PM LOL! That really was an amazing day from beginning to end! We went the "old fashioned" route - remained 'chaste' before our wedding and on the actual wedding day itself, did not see each other before the ceremony; I was such a slacker. Lucent took care of everything from the ceremony to the reception - all I had to do was show up, look pretty and TRY not to walk into the river next to the ceremony site! (oh well, two out of three.. what can i say?)
Jo-Admin 04-13-2008, 12:31 AM Thats really pretty and romantic! Tell us the story!
Okay, so because y'all were talking about it, I went and joined up. I just have the basic thing for now...I figured I would learn how to do things like..oh, walk? before I attempted to do something like build a house.
I am totally, totally lost...completely. No clue what I am doing. So, ya'll tell me how i am doing so far.
But anyway....I made a character, got her looking what I thought was fairly attractive...and then popped into the land. Went through the little training area...learned how to walk and fly...communicate, etc.
Went to the free place and got some clothes and stuff..then went to the welcoming area...there I met some chick named Peaches, who first off taught me how to see the front of my avatar. I then found out I had been wandering around for half a day in a see-through shirt with my nipples showing...
Then...she ever so generously gave me a transport back to her house, where she gave me a bunch of clothes, and she told me you have to look good to get a job there...good skin and good clothes. She also said I had a newbie figure, so she gave me another shape or figure or whatever.
Then, I pretty much wandered around, since I only know how to get to about three places...
But I'm there! Now what?
Oh, also, a lot of people have been sending me friend request thingies..do you just make friends with everyone you talk to? And also, I get requests to join clubs or groups, do I want to join them all? The first one I accepted because I didn't know what I was doing..and it was something like Club Camelot.
Belisama 04-13-2008, 02:00 AM LOL!! No, no, no... you definitely want to be careful about who you accept friendship with and what groups you join. Suffice it to say there is a lot of... erm.. "inappropriate" behaviour that goes on in SL *laughs* and you kind of need to be careful while you're exploring, especially when you're new.
I completely lucked out my first day and, not knowing that private property in SL is like in real life, I just wandered into somebody's house, after somebody who didn't even speak english teleported me someplace I'd never been before. Thankfully, the people who owned the house were three VERY nice girls (we're still friends and, after I moved to chicago, I found out that one of them had lived only 10 minutes away from me when I was down in central IL) who showed me the ropes and gave me ... wow, a whole bunch of free stuff.
In case you haven't figured it out yet, be careful about clicking on "pose balls" because... well *beet red face* let's just say the first time I clicked on one, it was a completely unintentional (and prior to that moment unknown to me) action - I'd clicked on a sex ball, not knowing what it was! How embarrassing!
Anyway, Jo (and Mike), there are some really good places to go where you can get free stuff plus, if I find you online, Jo, I can give you a TON of things I bought that I no longer use (cuter - much cuter - clothes, hair, etc.) that will not make you look so generic.
Jo-Admin 04-13-2008, 02:07 AM Holy crud, you better tell me what a pose ball is and what a sex ball is before I get into trouble.
The lady I met was very nice....she teleported me back to her house, gave me a bunch of clothes, and even helped me buy some hair. I don't look generic anymore, but I couldn't figure out why she would be so nice to a complete strange.
I look pretty cute now, actually...a little bit ****ty but cute.
Okay, now what is a sex ball? I would like to remain a SL virgin!
Mshort 04-13-2008, 02:21 AM my characters name is mich sopwith.. I know the last name sounds weird but it was the first one that i found that was available lol. anyways, i'm abit like jo. rather lost and stuff :-)
Jo-Admin 04-13-2008, 02:35 AM I'll try to find you...or befriend you or whatever. I can't remember my character's last name right now! Her first name is Jenae, so if I find you, you will know me!
Belisama 04-13-2008, 02:59 AM Hmm, our wedding; how to describe it?
We laugh and say it all began over a torrent of tea and man-sized tissues because that is precisely what our first conversation was about. It would be a bold-faced lie if I said we didn't both think "hmm, better be careful here" when we first met; however, we're also both steadfast people who were in very commited long-term relationships at the time so, as we got to know each other, we were relieved to find out that we were each in what we thought were solid relationships (there is a LOT of.. sexual stuff.. that goes on in SL and, if you're not careful, it's easy to fall prey to it) and our friendship grew.
You all know the drama that happened in my life and I think most of you know what happened in Lucent's so there's no need to rehash all of that. But anyway, we found ourselves enjoying each other's company more and more and so Lucent asked me to marry him. He crafted an engagement ring for me and we made our announcement. We had to go to the owners of Avilion to get permission to be wed there. They gave us their blessing and, while I'd like to say I did something to contribute, it was really Lucent who put the whole thing together. The ONLY actual contribution I made was that I picked out our wedding outfits (they were spectacular! LOL!) and, I think, the wedding cake. Lucent crafted our wedding bands, put together the entire wedding (including a dove release) and arranged the reception! He literally did it ALL!
One thing to mention is that we made the extremely rare decision to remain "chaste" before our wedding. Most folks in SL are.. well, sex is a pretty strong theme LOL! But we said we wouldn't and so we didn't. And, as i alluded to before, we agreed to not see each other until the actual ceremony on our wedding day. Which sounded great at first but, once the day arrived, we thought it was going to kill us. We couldn't talk to each other in any IMs, we kept each other on our maps so we would know where not to go... and everyone was in on the fun. They kept us busy and away from each other - i think they all had about as much fun with the day as we did! It drove us crazy and we kept asking everyone, "How is he/she doing? Is he/she as nervous as I am?" and they all would laugh and assure us that we were both absolute wrecks but that we would be fine in just a few hours *laughs at the memory*
Shortly before our ceremony, we sent each other a letter and a gift. He gave me two, beautiful gowns that he had selected for me and I gave him an earring that was identical to the one that he wore in real life.
When it came time for the ceremony, my friend, Korgi teleported me to the location so he could walk me down the aisle to Lucent (Korgie was also our wedding photographer). And walk we did! Only my computer got stuck and I kept right on going into the river next to our wedding spot! LOL - in real life, I was laughing hysterically! Once we got that little glitch fixed, we had the actual ceremony. It was a Christian hand-fast and was performed by one of the Ancients, Zarkela (she is also a dragon). Jonno's SL sister, Spirit, was my maid of honor and our dear friend, Atzel (now Zarkela's husband) was Jonno's best man. We had a beautiful flower girl, the very precocious Musa and I couldn't even tell you how many guests but it was a ton of fun.
During our reception, one of the fae, Tofer, blessed us by wishing that we would soon hear the pitter patter of many tiny feet in our home so, naturally, we became pregnant with twins shortly after the wedding (hahahahahaha)!
The whole thing was a ton of fun but the best part of all has been telling them that we're now a genuine couple engaged out here in the real world :bgrin2:
Belisama 04-13-2008, 03:10 AM oh geez... sex balls/pose balls! LOLOL!! okay, so i clicked on one completely innocently and was immediately like, "hey!!! what is that mini-me doing?? hey!! quit it! quit it!!" and i didn't know how to make it stop.
Pretty much anywhere you go in second life, you'll see these little circles that say "click here" or "F" or "M" Those are pose balls. Usually, they tell you what action you're about to do but not always. As a very basic rule, if you see a pink ball and a blue ball side by side (or two pink balls or two blue balls), it means that it's a "couple" action and oftentimes, it either means some sort of sex act or some sort of dance move. hahahahaha!
Jo, yeah, there are some really nice folks in SL, too - a lot of us remember what it was like to be new and lost!! I actually joined SL for the first time four years ago but, back then, there was nothing to do! Now? Holy moly, you really need to explore. Go to the search button (on the bottom menu bar), click on "places" and then choose a keyword based on something you like. You'll find places to go that have everything from car racing to zoos. Microsoft has their own place in SL, as do 1-800-Flowers, Adidas, Motown, Cisco, Mazda, MTV... you name it, they're either there or probably making plans to GET there!
Bodhi Tree 04-13-2008, 04:36 AM I want to find all of you guys, this is getting funny. Let's have an Agelesslove gatthering in SL. LOL
Belisama 04-13-2008, 04:51 AM hahaha!! i know!! And Aline has gotten to know a little bit about another side of the real Belisama now that she's visited me in SL :bgrin2:
Haraio 04-13-2008, 05:03 AM Hmm, Ageless gathering sounds kewl^^ Be sure to invite me and Nat there. Our names are Natasja and Haakon Schumann^^
Oh yeah, me and Nat have quite some experience with both dance balls and sex balls :tongue2: lol
Bodhi Tree 04-13-2008, 05:08 AM LOL, I must be the only innocent babe in SL. This is what my profile says :
Please, do NOT even begin to plan to think about asking me for the slightest possibility of even considering a perspective for a project of having sex and I do NOT want to see your dick. Thank you.
:D
Bodhi Tree 04-13-2008, 05:12 AM hahaha!! i know!! And Aline has gotten to know a little bit about another side of the real Belisama now that she's visited me in SL :bgrin2:
OOOh yes !!! I know things about Kelley :p
but I haven't seen any of you yet.
Let's set a time when we can all be there
YAY more people on SL!!

http://i39.photobucket.com/albums/e162/Haraio/Wedding.jpg
Bodhi Tree 04-13-2008, 05:21 AM I never married Peter on SL because we got bored with the game before we did, but the day he asked to marry me was strangely fantastic.
He surprised me with an engagement ring and a pose ball to get on his knees.
So he gave me the ring and I didn't know that it was a box. I clicked on the box and wore it and all of a sudden I was bald and I had a huge box on my head where my hair used to be.
Then I started all over again, but this time I took the ring out and rezzed it on the ground and lost it.
It was quite hilarious, but with Peter we only make fools of ourselves in SL, so it was all perfect.
The funny thing is, that I felt the great emotions that I would feel in real life if the love of my life was asking me to marry him. How strange is that ?
To top it all up, he asked me again to marry him in real life, and guess what ? I said "yes" :o:o:o
Haraio 04-13-2008, 05:23 AM Chim is much better for dancing than pose balls. Pose balls are old fashion though :bgrin2: Chim (Chimera) is something that is put on one person, and when that person dances the others who join the Chim will be dancing synchronised to the first person^^
Hmm, agree a time to meet on SL? How about right now? :tongue2:
Bodhi Tree 04-13-2008, 05:26 AM OK, I'm logging in now :bgrin2:
Yay we at ageless now! talking to bodhi and going thru her garden! it was wonderful! ;)

Pics taken with Bodhi at her garden! it was awesome! :)
Jo-Admin 04-13-2008, 07:30 AM Hmmmm...wonder if we should have an Agelesslove in SL?
Well, I had an interesting night. I can see how this game could be...distracting. I met a nice guy, then I met another nice guy, then I met a nice guy who took me dancing (slow dancing)...
Apparently I am quite good looking for a "noob", and I am beating off guys with a stick. Might be the sexy clothes that chick gave me, I dunno.
Anyway, I want to meet you guys there too! I'll try to add you guys, or y'all add me...my name is Jenae Mauer.
I just sent you a friendship and my name is Natasja Schumann :)
Hmm sexy clothes? o.O i want to see! hehe
Agelesslove group on SL? Sounds like fun hehe ;)
Haraio 04-13-2008, 09:01 AM Yes, someone should create the group on SL!!! Do it do it do it!!^^ :bgrin2:
I will join it the next time I come online!^^
Belisama 04-13-2008, 09:30 AM That would be awesome! If no one minds, I can have Lucent do it or we can nominate Aline. :) *laughs at Haraio's comment re: dancing pose balls* definitely chim but for ballroom dancing, I haven't seen anything other than poseballs!
Now I want to share more photos - I'm off to church right now but I'll check back in later and share :D
Jo-Admin 04-13-2008, 01:56 PM I don't know how to create a group, but I think it would be all kinds of fun to have an Ageless group!!!!
Somebody create it and let me know...
I added you Hao!
Belisama 04-13-2008, 03:58 PM No worries - I created an Ageless Love in Second Life group; everyone whose names I know. If you'd like an invite and haven't received one, just shoot me a note and I'll be glad to add you to the group! Jo, I need your name so I can add you too :)

Hmm, now I just need to add all the new names to my friend list :bgrin2:
Rozie 04-14-2008, 11:54 AM I'm enjoying this thread. I don't play Second Life...too busy right now with RL, but I checked it out and it is such a monumental leap beyond Sims Online that was my first online game. Belisama...great pics!! Hao, I enjoyed Natasha's pics...you are one drop dead gorgeous woman in both worlds. Ailine and Joel'strouble...I want to see more!!
Gabby 04-14-2008, 12:23 PM I suggest, if starting over, that you pick the CSI version as the starter avvi's are much better.
cuteguy37048 04-14-2008, 12:43 PM If I knew it was dial up friendly I'd likely do it. I'm in 56k Hell :(
JennyJen 04-14-2008, 12:54 PM I'm gonna have to step on it and sign up soon!
Gabby 04-14-2008, 01:03 PM Hey, if we get enough people we could totally rent a small bit o land for a club for ourselves. I've got the buildings in my inventory, including a hot pink 1950's diner with outside love seat made from the back of a 58 Chevvy.:D
Belisama 04-14-2008, 01:26 PM Lucent and I have been throwing around the idea for quite some time, Gabby! We want to build our own sim anyway (and by "we," what I really mean is "Lucent is really good at that stuff and I pretend like I do it too by being his advisory board but he is the one who actually does all the work" ) :bgrin2:
BTW, is anyone else cracking up that this thread has actually made it to five pages? In the gaming forum! Who knew??
cuteguy37048 04-14-2008, 03:52 PM Yup looked it up. CG is Sierra Omega Lima. Minimum requirement is DSL.
I kinna hate new games on one aspect they all require broadband and none of the broadband companies will bring their service out to our location because the area because they can't turn a profit off of it cuz there is not enough people in one small area to suit their picky money-grubbin needs.
Belisama 04-14-2008, 03:57 PM aww, that stinks! Sorry, CG! You could always get satellite! :bgrin2:
Gabby 04-14-2008, 05:43 PM For those of you who are thinking of joining, membership is free unless you want to own land, also, some terms:
Inworld....In Secondlife.
SL...means Secondlife.
Lindens...is the money base, and the group of folks who run SL.
Noob...A person who has just joined
Rez or Rezzing...when you see the world as grey blobs, with messing pecies, or other such problems which means your settings need to be adjusted, there is a lot of traffic in the area, or your comp/connection isn't good enough to support the high graphic richness of SL.
Sim...A sim is a square of property (region) which may or may not be owned by one group or person and have a theme, or owned by many. (Not uncommon to see a shack next to a palace next to a club)
Crash...When a person or sim freezes up.
Sim Crash...When a region goes off line, which may cause you to crash or cause you to be teleported to another location unexspectedly.
Roll over...When a Sim Crash is planned to reset the server.
(Side note: You can tell if your sim has crashed by looking at the map screen and if it's red, it's crashed, even tho on your screen you may still be moving.)
Teleport...also called TP or Port, when you jump to another location. You can send TP's to your friends to have them join you in locations as well.
Prim...stands for Primative, which is what everything in SL is made out of, yes, even you. Anyone can use prims to build things, but only on land where you have permission.
Prim heavy...Each bit of land can support so many prims not worn by people, so if you see two chairs, for example, that look very alike but when you look at them one is "14 prims" and one is "39 prims" the second one is considered "prim heavy".
(Side note: Prims are the real gold in in SL, if your a whiz comp artist and can make textures that end up saving other folks prims, such as a texture that looks like that 14 prim chair into a 4 prim chair, your in the money, honey.)
BIG NOTE: Not everyone can, but it is totally possiable to make a living in SL because you can convert the inworld money into real money and back again. My friends who owns their own business was offered early retirement in the real world (IRL) and will be focusing on his inworld business, of which he makes several thousand a month.
AND NO MEMBERSHIP IS REQURIED TO DO THIS! :D
You only need membership if you want to own land.
JennyJen 04-14-2008, 06:22 PM This is gonna come in real handy for me
Jo-Admin 04-14-2008, 06:35 PM Boy have I had some strange experiences since I got there, but Bodhi Tree told me that is actually some of the most fun.
I met Mshort on there, and went shopping with him...I laughed until my eyes watered when he accidentally turned himself into a green guy with a little tiny head, and then couldn't get change himself back.
I accidentally transported myself to a sex club in the mature area....and then clicked everything so fast trying to leave, I crashed. Note to self: When you log in again, you are right back at the last place you were before you left.
Another "sexual" misexperience on my part, I met some people who, after chatting for a while, wanted to know if had a swimsuit and wanted to go swimming...I have a swimsuit, I thought, okay! Flashforward a couple of minutes, and unless "slow ride" is a new swimming stroke, I was staring at a pool full of those sex ball things Kel mentioned.
Other than that, I have met a few really nice people, and I went to visit Bodhi and saw her bee-you-tee-ful garden and meditated a bit. Sat and watched a swan swimming, and some horses down on the beach.
My son joined, and he and I went shopping, and then tried out dancing in a club together. That made me laugh a lot...
All in all, more positive than negative definitely.
I have chosen not to talk about any first life things in my second life, so I even put in my profile no personal questions, please. All I am in second life is the character I play there...I don't want to involve my first life at all. ;)
Anyhow, I hope more of you join, because it would be neat to get together on there and talk...a lot better than sitting in the chat room here, although I like that too.
Belisama 04-14-2008, 07:10 PM Gabby, I nominate you to be the keeper of the noob SL dictionary/glossary :D
Additional terms to include:
OOC - "Out Of Character" for those who roleplay inworld
/me - this is what you type in order to indicate an action. for example, to turn and look at someone, of course you can make your character do it physically, but you can also just type /me turns and looks at Gabby. then your chatbox will say, "Eithne McBride turns and looks at Gabby."
Mouselook - This is what you'll use in order to look at the SL world through the eyes of your character.
LM - Landmark. When you find a place you like, you can get their landmark for quick access when you'd like to return to that particular place. Second Life is HUGE and those LMs come in handy if you're into traveling ;)
Griefer - a vandal or attacker. A griefer can push or impede your movement or completely overload your screen with images or sounds. Griefing is most common in noob and heavily populated areas. For the record, this is a violation of terms of service.
Ruth'd - Sometimes when you log in, you end up looking like a generic female. When this happens, you've just ruth'd!
SLT - Second Life Time. SLT coincides with Pacific Time because that's where Linden Labs is located.
Other things to keep in mind:
You can shout to everyone in your region/sim so that everyone, not just the people in your immediate vicinity, can hear what you have to say.
For those of you who have microphones, we can chat live in SL if you want! Sometimes you'll be traipsing about and suddenly you'll hear voices... whatzzis? You've got it.. people chattering away!
practice flying!! It gets you where you need to go within a sim a lot faster than walking! I'm a decent flyer but Lucent is amazing (I'm not sure how he does what he does but his flying is incredible).
Just like in RL, there is a LOT to explore in SL. You can find the Eiffel Tower, the Cistine Chapel.. you can visit prague, enchanted forests, Tokyo, go to discoes, ballroom dancing, there are castles, pirate ships, places where you can go sky diving... you can even go to church or synagogue there! For realz! LOL!
--------------------------------------------
Once we get some of this put together, we can create some notecards just for our Ageless noobs as they start arriving. I have a sneaking suspicion that we're going to have quite a crowd eventually...
Gabby 04-14-2008, 07:19 PM lol, Ok.
SL tip of the day: Your profile.
Click on yourself or someone else and choose profile.
You'll see a lot of tabs which you can put in there such as mentioned above that you First life is none of anyone elses business, you like jazz, etc etc.
Experinced SLers see someone they like and usually check out their profile really fast. Saves time and effort sometimes if you only want to chat and their profile states they will ...er...ya....
Picks is a great way to see where other folks like to go and see that might be intresting to you.
Bonus tip:
SL boxes can be a pain if you buy something and most often you have to set the box down and then open it, yada yada yada.
WELL! If you wear the box on your hand, then click on it, go to edit you can pick and choose from the contents the things you want to keep rather than have the entire contents dropped willy nilly into your inventory.
Belisama 04-14-2008, 07:34 PM Bonus tip:

You need to "unpack" your box to get to the thing you bought. Think of it like unzipping a zipped file - everything's in there; you just need to take it all out so you can use it the way it was meant to be used :)
Gabby 04-14-2008, 07:36 PM For experinced SLers, a funny: RL SL (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flkgNn50k14)
You know you’ve spent too much time in SecondLife when…
You see a cute guy/gal at a bar and you want to right click on them to read their profile.
You stand naked in front of the mirror wishing there was a slider to reduce your belly.
You walk out of the mall, realize your car is at the far end of Timbuktu and think “I’ll just fly. Where is that F button?”
While surfing on other websites you have the urge to zoom in on things with your mouse wheel.
You instintively stick your arms out to the side in front the mirror to check your appearance.
You find yourself shopping for clothes that are as cool as the ones your avatar wears.
You look for stacks of green dots on Google maps.
You try to click on locations on Google maps and then look for the Teleport button.
You’ve begun measuring distance in SIMs instead of miles or kilometers.
You reach your hand out to edit the size of your TV and feel disapointed when that line of white light doesn’t extend from your hand.
Mshort 04-14-2008, 08:39 PM that bonus tip helps me alot. i've bought myself a car, and when ever click wear, the box appears on my head... lol
I'm enjoying this thread.
*blushed* awww rozie you making me blush! Ty ;)
Hmm we have a walking dictionary and also glossary too!! and damn now the pages has jumped to 5!

So when is the get together!? :)
Haraio 04-15-2008, 08:02 AM You all should watch those videos ^_^ They are really good and they helped me alot when I first started SL^^
Gawd, Nat is such a shopping addict <.<;; Lol, she gonna make me bankrupt if she keep buying as much clothes as she does now :bgrin2:
When is the gathering? Make sure I get an invitation! Or else you will taste the sharp edge of my halberd! :tongue2:
Belisama 04-15-2008, 09:23 AM LOL - I want Lucent to make clothes for me so I won't have to buy them anymore but he's been having too much fun making swords and babblers and such
Lucent 04-15-2008, 09:42 AM I do what people will pay for me to do (SCRIPTING ONLY, NOT ESCORTING) I gotta try and keep you in the lifetsyle you wish to become accustomed to. :-p
Belisama 04-15-2008, 09:50 AM ROFL!!! Yes, you do... but no, no, no... no escorting! :bgrin2:
tigerlilly5 04-15-2008, 10:04 AM Fivebrothers offers use of the lounge area on her land whenever anyone wants to hang out ... yeah it's a club but there's never a cost ... well then again club isn't quite right, more like a romantic nature park with a dance floor and lounge in the center. Just check my profile, links to it under classified and picks both :D
Belisama 04-15-2008, 10:15 AM Hey, if it's alright with you, I'll create a notification to send to everyone - thanks for generously offering!
Jo-Admin 04-15-2008, 10:49 AM Wow, that would be totally awesome and wonderful...thanks Tigerlilly!
Gabby 04-15-2008, 02:49 PM Tip of the day:
See something you like, house, chair, etc? As long as it's not worn by someone else you can do this:
Click on the item and it will tell you who owns it, but also who it was created by. Click on the creators name and their profile will come up. Even if they don't have any ads, usually they have the stores where they sell stuff under their profile!
Bonus tip:
Ladies, need some hair? Join the Bewitched Hair Update Group, go to notices, and accept attachments. Boxes and boxes of free hair!
Also, ladies, search Another Store for some great free skins!
Ellethe 04-15-2008, 03:25 PM I've tried it, but just couldn't get into it. It seems sooooooooo freaking difficult.
Gabby 04-15-2008, 03:27 PM You didn't have a good mentor then. I'm not sure when I'll be back in world, but when I am, and if you want to try again, I'd be more than happy to help you out. I've played in world for almost four years now, so I know a thing or two. ;)

You may be right... I'm a bit spoiled for SL, by There... still always willing to try again. You were one of my favs Polite... so send me a PM and maybe we'll hook up in game. M~
Gabby 04-15-2008, 03:39 PM I actually played there for a while, but I didn't like you couldn't give anything to anyone who wasn't a member, etc. Seemed very eliteist, where as SL is much more free form.
There is the 'burbs, and SL is the wild frontier! lol

Yes I know you did try There... didn't I bring you in?
;) :bgrin2:
Gabby 04-15-2008, 03:59 PM You tried, but my poor poor comp wouldn't let me. So I joined like a year later...something like that...And my girl did too. We had a nice little beach front property there. Then we both joined SL.
Jo-Admin 04-15-2008, 04:51 PM Gabby, you know what, Im ashamed to say I forgot who you were for a bit with your new name!!!!
Gabby 04-15-2008, 05:15 PM Well, I don't mind if you can figure out a way to give me back my old one since my password is way forgotten!
Jo-Admin 04-15-2008, 06:38 PM I can and I will....
Can you spell it for me...Was it PoliteSuccubus? I think that was it...
Gabby 04-16-2008, 01:30 PM Yes'm. Then I can get back to my real post count. ;)
JennyJen 04-16-2008, 01:38 PM While you're fixing things can you please fix my birthday...I'm so tired of people thinking I'm 10...I keep getting these sick PM's from some sick guys!
Belisama 04-16-2008, 03:03 PM wait. you're not??
JennyJen 04-16-2008, 03:05 PM wait. you're not??
Only sometimes...I'm really 12!!!
Jo-Admin 04-16-2008, 03:49 PM Huh...I'll change Gabby's name...I'll have to think about Jens birthdate....
Belisama 04-16-2008, 03:57 PM is she allowed to stay here? I mean... don't we have an age minimum? :tongue2:
JennyJen 04-16-2008, 04:04 PM is she allowed to stay here? I mean... don't we have an age minimum? :tongue2:
You love me...you'd be so lost without me I might be 10 but I'm still a good time!
Belisama 04-16-2008, 04:08 PM LMAO - truth
::: gently but firmly takes the bottle of jagermeister out of Jen's hand and walks away :::
Woot we had a dance at Bodhi's place today! it was fun! and JO i love that pink dress hehe ;) its looks good on you :)
Gabby 04-16-2008, 06:13 PM SL tip of the day:
Don't want to sign back in to the place you last left?
Use your map functions to find a telehub in a low lag area and set it to "home", then, in your settings change your log in place to "home". Then, when you log in, you'll always be at the telehub. OR, if you buy land you can set that to your "home" as well!
Jo-Admin 04-16-2008, 07:46 PM Boy hon, could I have used that bit of information on a number of occasions. Besides where I teleported back into a sex club twice...
I also went a friend's house to change clothes, and had my computer crash. I just gave up. Well, later I went and logged back in...and showed up in the middle of her living room topless!
*sigh*
Yes we went to Bodhi's and danced on the roof. Her partner spun some records for us, and even ordered a pizza. Then, Im not certain, but I think a beachball attached Bodhi. It made me laugh because I looked over, and there she is laying on the floor with a beach ball on top of her...and her partner goes "you okay over there, hon?". LOL
I just love seeing everyone there...
Now the thing I am having difficulty with is...knowing everyone's real names, their names here, and then their names there....it gets confusing!
Belisama 04-16-2008, 08:00 PM hey you guys need to let us know on the boards when you're getting together so we can show up!
PinkPanther_04 04-16-2008, 10:46 PM Hey guys, I've been kind of curious, so I made me an avatar and I've been wandering around a bit in the orientation thingy. Not sure how much time I really have for it, but I wouldn't mind if someone could show me around sometime so I can check it out. I'm actually a little bit afraid to leave the orientation island because I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I think I can just about walk where I want to without running into too many things, but I'm not real good at anything else. I did the Sims thing for a while when that came out, until it got to be too tedious and time-consuming, but this seems more interesting. I haven't played any of the other online games, though, so I think my learning curve might be a little higher than someone who has. Oh, my name's Kat Kaufmann, btw.
Shewolf 04-17-2008, 07:06 AM LOL I am also have problems learning to walk here........... I guess I just have to keep trying til I get it right LOL
Belisama 04-17-2008, 08:08 AM Hey guys - I've got to go run some errands and whatnot but when I get back, I'll check in. If you've got some time to get on SL, I'd be glad to help you out unless, of course, someone else here beats me to it! :p
Strwbrries 04-17-2008, 08:51 AM I remember that I had a little person on this thing but I got bored and never actually went anywhere. Hell if I can remember what email I used or log in lol. It's been fun reading this thread.
Gabby 04-17-2008, 02:14 PM LOL, glad I could help!
Tip for the day, some awesome free stuff places.
Yadni's Junkyard is HUGE, but hard to figure out, and if your not careful you can end up accidently wearing everything in the box. Once, I turned myself in to a tall male truck driver in a tutu and couldn't change back. I had to scrap the account and start over. Happily,it was only a few days old and I hadn't gotten a lot of stuff.
New Citzen's is a great place, it has classes, free things, practice places.
A Dove is a new place, great lay out, nice things.
Another Store is for ladies skins only, but GREAT ladies skins.
The Shelter is a newbie hang out, not very much new stuff, but very very helpful folks and a great place to meet new folks.
Freebie Beach is one of the better sorted places. Acres of stuff with signs to show you what they look like rather than boxed in big clumps like Yadni's.
Terms:
No Mod means you can't change it.
No Copy means you can give away the item, but you won't be able to keep one for yourself.
No Transfer means you can't give it away.
So, if something is copy/transfer that means you can give it away and still have one for yourself.
And if something is Modify that means you can change that chair that just doesn't match into a chair that does match!
PinkPanther_04 04-17-2008, 05:13 PM Okay, how do you find specific places? I searched for some of those on the map and couldn't find them.
More questions: what's camping, and is it a scam when someone advertises free money?
Oh, and is there a possibility of getting a virus or any kind of malware by accepting something in SL?
Okay, never mind about how to find places. I guess you search for it in the Search option instead of on the map.
tigerlilly5 04-17-2008, 09:32 PM Okay, if you've been on SL for... more than 10 minutes... you might find this funny:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=flkgNn50k14
Oh, and if you wanna turn off that annoying typing animation and sound... I know the trick :D
Jo-Admin 04-18-2008, 12:08 AM LOL...I thought that was funny!
Hey y'all anyone on this thread who doesn't have me as a friend please add me.
I haven't been a lot of places on there, but I know a cool place to listen to some blues music, have a beer or two and dance your butt off! as well as ride a mechanical bull...
I also have some clothes and stuff I would be willing to share..if you need them.
It looks like I am on there 24/7, but really I just leave it running while I work so I can get messages and stuff, so don't distress if I dont' answer right away.
Belisama 04-18-2008, 12:16 AM Okay, how do you find specific places? I searched for some of those on the map and couldn't find them.
Oh no no... just click on the "search" button on your bottom menu bar (it's a complete and separate button - has nothing to do with the map) and then "search places" for whatever it is you're looking for.
More questions: what's camping, and is it a scam when someone advertises free money?
Yes and no. It's free money but it's an utter waste of time. You have to "camp" for ridiculous amounts of time for what pretty much amount to nothing. Your better bet is to go to some of the freebie places Gabby mentioned.
Oh, and is there a possibility of getting a virus or any kind of malware by accepting something in SL?
Not viruses so much as griefers - read Gabby's definition in one of the earlier threads for more info. They're a pain and they can freeze up your game. No severe damage but... a huge pain nonetheless.
Okay, never mind about how to find places. I guess you search for it in the Search option instead of on the map.
yup, you've got it :)
Gabby 04-18-2008, 01:23 PM I know Freebie Beach is on the most popular list, if that helps. And typing NCI I think brings up the New Citzen's center...
Tip of the Day: Lag, what is it and what can I do to prevent it.
Lag is when you are moving or speaking much slower than usual. Sometimes it's just you, sometimes it's the whoel region because too many folks are in the area etc.
Some ways to reduce lag:
Personal prim count....If you are wearing a lot of added on things it can slow you down. Like armor etc. In RP realms like Nor etc folks like to dress up very fancy but when they fight it slows them down horriable. The fastest fighters are those who don't wear a lot of prims (like armor, or costumes) but instead have a textured outfit. Take shoes for example...Prim shoes are made out of peices and then put together and then worn on the foot, while a textured shoe actually IS your foot....but it looks like a shoe.
Effects....Sure those sparkles look pretty when you dance, and it's cool when little hearts fly over your head when you say I love you, but if a lot of folks are doing it at the same time, it can cause lag. And just not using it doesn't reduce the lag becuase the 'channel' the object is tuned into still is listening. In high lag areas remove the object.
Peferences...Under the peferences tab you can move the slide bars to make you have a smoother experince. Things like fog on or off, how far away you can see, how detailed things are can really make a difference in your speed, but not so much to your experince. I mean really, how detailed do you need those trees anyway? And do you really need to see 96 meters away? Why not 50 meters? (tho those who fly a lot might want to leave it at 96)
Belisama 04-18-2008, 02:40 PM hey, is Freebie Beach what used to be Freebie Planet a few months ago? I don't see that on there anymore and it was fantastic (well organized, lots of stuff, looooots of visitors)
p.s. Are you going to touch on dancing/escorting? :bgrin2: *bawdy laughter*
Jo-Admin 04-19-2008, 12:45 AM or sex clubs? holy cow.... Oh, or transvestites? Or people with houses full of sex bubbles and special beds....
I only had to hear "just click on the bed to get the menu" one time...Im a fast learner!!! lol I was outta there!
Haraio 04-19-2008, 06:13 AM Hehe, sex beds are just awesome!^^
Me and Nat have one with more than 40 different positions :bgrin2: Never a boring moment in our house lol :tongue2:
Belisama 04-19-2008, 08:59 AM LOL!! Lucent and I had one and tried adding more positions but getting our mini people to line up just right was a pain. Also the "penile attachment" thing was too much *laughs excessively*
Lucent says it's not so complicated in real life plus he doesn't need an attachment so... *more laughter*
Jo-Admin 04-19-2008, 01:27 PM LOL!
Too cute!
I had a friend of mine who does some work on SL help me build my avatar, and it came out really well for a new person. Now she gets hit on all the time by pervs, so I drag him along with me almost everywhere for "cover".
In all honesty, I see how people can get freaky addicted to that place. I had to have Lou give me a reality check the other day!
It's just so strange that you can so many different places, meet sooo many different people and do so many different things. You can actually take college classes there in SL...
Belisama 04-19-2008, 01:58 PM LOL!
Too cute!

hahahaha!! You do know that's how Lucent and I got to be friends, don't you?
But yes! I've been telling people for a long time, you can take classes there, attend churches/bible studies there, buy real estate (RL or SL) there, I've attended lots of concerts for all sorts of different music genres... there's really not much you can do in RL that you can't do in SL beyond physical contact; crazy, isn't it?
tigerlilly5 04-19-2008, 06:28 PM Ooooh... my FAVORITE thing so far in SL????
For Valentine's Day... wasn't really a way for my YM to get me a "real" gift ... long story unless you've read some of my previous posts ... but ... oh he's so wonderful ... he went to this place called Starfruit... you can pay with Linden$ (the SL "currency" which you can earn or buy) ... bought me this crystal heart necklace that my avatar wears. The FUN part is... when you click the necklace (or whatever the SL gift is), it takes you to a website where you confidentially enter your address (the buyer never sees it - only the recipient of the gift for those who desire confidentiality of that) and lo and behold... about a week later... a crystal heart necklace arrives in the mail in REAL LIFE as my Valentine's Day gift.
Sweetest V-Day gift ever :D
And btw ... he makes real life $$ doing commission artwork in SL... can't beat that!
Jo-Admin 04-19-2008, 10:59 PM I'm off work tomorrow and Monday, if you all want to meet up anywhere.
Shewolf, I didn't get you added as a friend, because I thought you were a pervie guy. Send me another request!
OHLis 04-20-2008, 11:44 AM I signed up for SL about a year ago at the request of a friend..and at the time my computer was as slow as molasses, so I gave up quickly.
It all looks so fun and interesting but so incedibly daunting I cant even imagine getting anywhere with it!
If jenny gets her butt on there and figures it all out and then can drag me through it, Im in! LOL
Shewolf 04-20-2008, 12:59 PM Shewolf, I didn't get you added as a friend, because I thought you were a pervie guy. Send me another request!
LMAOOOO And there was me actually using part of my real name as my avatar's first name LOL I shall have to inform my adopted mum she gave me a 'pervie' sounding name, she'll die laughing LOL
Shewolf aka Censi Thei
Belisama 04-20-2008, 08:12 PM Okay, Leigh, I've got you added to the Ageless group in SL :)
Gabby 04-21-2008, 12:08 PM Tip of the Day (the requested escort/dancer tip! ;) )
Sex is alive and well in SL, as it is in any internet medium. There are magazines, flims, and sex workers. There are clubs, entire sims dedicated to sexual RP, and naughty bits abound. Anything you thought you may have wanted to see or try, you can in SL.
A sex worker in SL who knows her/his stuff can make upwards of 1500 L for a half hour of jumping on a pose ball and talking 'naughty' to the client. Which is about 9 bucks in the real world, but SL money goes further.
The sex clubs are free, usually, and full to the brim and sooo laggy you may not even be able to see the acts being performed. It's huge business to make poseballs for these acts, as well as 'toys'.
Dancers work in strip clubs or on 'dance pads' for 'camping' and may dabble in escorting. Camping is where you hang out for money, usually one linden for every ten mintues. It's a suckers game, but good if you need a few linden and a headache of a inventory to sort out. lol.
Sexual RP can be taken very seriously by the players. One of the biggest ones is Gor, based on some novels. There are men, who are warriors usually, Freewomen who are completely covered from head to foot, and slaves...who are usually completely UNcovered or wear silks. A lot of folks get upset when they see the Gor players, esp if you come to a newbie place and the guy who's supposed to be teaching you has a woman kneeling three paces behind calling him master. Remember: The person you see being the slave has a real life, can afford a comp and connection good enough to run the game (which is more than I can say right now) and can quit the game at any time. If you are offended, don't be a greifer....just leave.
If you want to play around with the sex beds or fetishs I suggest not a sex club but Heaven and Hell. Above ground it's a beatiful park, with hidden little nooks for romping around, waterfalls, etc. Below ground there are rooms dedicated to various kinks, and the 8 sim area is shaped like a giant spider if you take the map overview. When you use the overview you can see if it's empty or not by the number of green dots. It also has a dance club called the Purgatory Club, but you have to go thru the kink store to get there. That's how I found out about the place, going to the club. I won a lot of money there from the Spolder Ball, put ten linden in, got like 300 out :D
JennyJen 04-21-2008, 02:31 PM I signed up for SL about a year ago at the request of a friend..and at the time my computer was as slow as molasses, so I gave up quickly.
It all looks so fun and interesting but so incedibly daunting I cant even imagine getting anywhere with it!
If jenny gets her butt on there and figures it all out and then can drag me through it, Im in! LOL
Yeah I want to do it so bad I just need freakin time and I can't find any to sit through it...next time we talk I'm gonna go through it and we'll hook it up I promise lovie!!!
Gabby 04-21-2008, 03:35 PM I know! Let's have a play date, get everyone one who needs to be mentored on line at once. Sadly, I won't be there, but, what do you the rest of you think?
JennyJen 04-21-2008, 09:09 PM OK, it's 10:08 and I have some free time (making some anyway) so I'm looking into this SL stuff...you peeps better be here to help me along the way!
JennyJen 04-21-2008, 09:28 PM Alright I don't know what I did, first I think I'm bald!!! Then I just hit a bunch of buttons I think I'm naked and I can't stop jumping in the air!!!
Oh and now there is this naked dude flying above my head...and I still have no hair...
JennyJen 04-21-2008, 09:34 PM Alright that's it...I quit you guys have fun!!!
Belisama 04-21-2008, 11:33 PM LOL!! noooo, come back! Jen, you need to let me know your character's name so I can add you and help you out...
::: bribes with a jager bomb :::
Jo-Admin 04-22-2008, 12:24 AM Yes, Jen...come back. I have all kinds of clothes and hair and body shapes and skins...
I would be more than happy to bring you where I am and fix you up.
Someone helped me an awful lot when I got there, and I look like a whole other person.
Belisama 04-22-2008, 12:31 AM Okay okay okay. Instead of just hooking up haphazardly, let's set something up. Keeping everyone's time zones in mind... how does 7:00 pm SL time sound? (reminder: 7:00 pm SL time is 7:00 pm US pacific time)
If anyone has another idea, I'm all for it - just thought I'd throw something out there as a starting point. :)
Shewolf 04-22-2008, 04:34 AM Someone helped me an awful lot when I got there, and I look like a whole other person.
She sure does!! She is so hot she is sizzling LOL
And she is great at helping out too ...........
Thanks again :)
Inahnia 04-22-2008, 08:38 AM Me and hubby are thinking about if we want to get SL accounts or not. To be honest, the only thing that puts me off about it is all the sex stuff. I guess you can avoid all that if you know what you are doing, but the last thing either of us want is to be constantly approached by nuts looking for a cyber hookup. (bleh) Other than that, it sounds rather fascinating, and being able to "meet" you all there is really cool, since in RL we have NO social life.
We'll be watching this thread to see how it's all working out...also have to see if I have enough room on my hard drive for another large game.
JennyJen 04-22-2008, 08:42 AM LOL!! noooo, come back! Jen, you need to let me know your character's name so I can add you and help you out...
::: bribes with a jager bomb :::
Jager??? OK OK OK I'm gonna try one more time, in a fit of rage I uninstalled it so I'm gonna reinstall it now and hook it back up and give you my info!!!
Belisama 04-22-2008, 09:38 AM Dian, you guys might REALLY like the place where Lucent and I met - it's kind of a medieval fantasy place and the rules are pretty strict about what kind of clothes you wear. Plus there are all sorts of interesting activities to do, things to learn, scavenger hunts, skills to learn... I love it there.
Also, I meant to tell everyone about another cool place Lucent and I visited the other day - it's actually a CSI crime lab; you have to solve mysteries. Once you get past the initial "what the heck am I doing" part of it, it's actually a lot of fun. Our first mystery we went through, we were like, "Hmm.. not sure about this; it looks like it's pretty basic and boring." And then we did another one. And liked it so much that we did another one.... you get the idea. I finally told Lucent I needed to get up and do something else because my butt hurt from sitting for so long focusing on solving crimes! :bgrin2:
Jen, this time, let me KNOW when you're going to be there. Or let someone - anyone - know; it's hysterical and a lot of fun and a bit addictive once you get past the starting point!
::: runs off to make good on her promise to ply Jen with Jager :::
JennyJen 04-22-2008, 09:54 AM Jen, this time, let me KNOW when you're going to be there. Or let someone - anyone - know; it's hysterical and a lot of fun and a bit addictive once you get past the starting point!
::: runs off to make good on her promise to ply Jen with Jager :::
Ugh the starting point was nuts, I was jumping in the air before i read my directions on how to walk, I ran into some lady (leterally) and then I finally picked my car, I drove it into a building, that was the part I said I quit...but it's all good I'll redo it and this time try not to take my clothes off or hurt someone else!
Belisama 04-22-2008, 10:16 AM LMAO! I hated that orientation... and the sim is so crowded, unless you've got a gaming computer or one that's basically got nothing else on its memory, you spend a LOT of time bumping into people and walls and stuff LOLOL
tigerlilly5 04-22-2008, 11:21 AM 7PM SL works for me... almost any night.
For all you newbies... I have plenty of free female clothes, and some men's as well. Not too many freebie shoes (unfortunately). Plus I regularly mentor others as an "official" SL mentor ... so if you have a question and I don't know the answer... bet I know where to find it :D
I'm not as much any more... when I am I'm either at home/gallery or at our club... but if I know people will be on I can make time!
Gabby 04-22-2008, 12:22 PM Tip of the Day...
Getting your person on (layers)
First is your body shape, you can think of it as your muscle and bones. When you sign up you get a free one, and you can mess around with it but for new folks it's easier to find a new one and put that on. There are fat ones, thin ones, big booty ones, furry ones, scaley ones, tiny ones and even giant maggot ones.
Once you have your shape on, next is the skin. If you went through Ori Island rather than the CSI island you're more than looking a little dorky. Flat, pasty or yellow, and very little detail. Most noobs look like this, and more than 75% of SL members won't talk to you. The better the skin, the more polished you look. In my opinion the skin is more important than the shape.
There are two kinds of hair: Texture hair and prim hair. Prim hair called Flexi actually moves. There are lots of places to get free hair (I've mentioned some) but if your 30 days or less both men and women can get some awesome hair at Gurl 6 by filling out a form and they will drop it to you. Which means you can get something most folks have to pay for for free.
Drag your shape, skin, and hair to your body from your inventory and they should automatically get on your body. THEN SAVE UNDER APPERANCE.
Can't stress saving enough, since a lot of folks dont' save and mess up and then what happens? They are stuck as a lumberjack in a tu tu!:paperbag:
Jo-Admin 04-22-2008, 01:12 PM Good lord...
Can some please make a list of what everyone's name is here and then there? I get so darn confused!!!!

Gabby 04-22-2008, 02:58 PM Oh my goodness!
Your playing drunk? How fun is that!

JennyJen 04-22-2008, 02:59 PM LOLOL NOOO not yet...I'm at school on a break just wanted to rejoin but I'm getting way to into it...I'm gonna be so late for my afternoon class!!!
Gabby 04-22-2008, 03:07 PM Warning, it can be highly addictive. I'm suffering terriable withdrawls....*sigh* :o
Belisama 04-22-2008, 05:40 PM Shewolf is on the list, too - she's Censi Thei
I've added you all to our Ageless Love SL group... when she has a moment, maybe Professor Gabby can explain groups to you. You're all members of at least one now :bgrin2: except you, Jen - still need to get you added LOL
JennyJen 04-22-2008, 05:48 PM How can you leave Jen out????
:(
Belisama 04-22-2008, 10:14 PM you're in! you're in! but............. where is everyone???
JennyJen 04-22-2008, 10:17 PM I'm in...I was on but I have so much homework to finish PLUS I'm waiting for OHLis cause I'm gonna set her up and get her in...as soon as the psych homework is done!
Jo-Admin 04-22-2008, 10:23 PM Where are you all?

Belisama 04-22-2008, 11:15 PM Okay - Jen and Lissa, I sent you both invites to the group; just accept and then you'll be in our grou, too :)
JennyJen 04-22-2008, 11:18 PM I'm in...not on but in!! :p
Wooo feel the excitement!!!
Belisama 04-23-2008, 12:45 AM Hey, Jo, Jen, Tigerlilly's guy and I got together for a bit tonight - lots of fun; we took a hot air balloon ride over Africa and then afterward took a quick tour of Tigerlilly and Dragon's place (VERY nice!)
Gabby 04-23-2008, 01:04 PM Professor Gabby? LOL!
Ok, at your request...Groups.
Groups get a lot of benefits in SL and it's not that hard to set one up tho it does cost a bit to do so and once you have it's hard to get rid of. (Speical tip, create an account to make the head of groups you don't want anymore so you can transfer them off your list.)
Groups can set up speical chats where only group members can see/hear no matter where you are in the world. Group leaders can send out items via the notices by adding an attachment to the notice. (Remember I said join the Betwitched Hair Update group and open all their old attachments for free hair?)
Groups can own 10% more land than indivuals can, and the cost of upkeep can be spread out among the members.
Let's say the Ageless Group wants to own it's own clubhouse (On a beach please, so we can swim! ;)) Enough prieum members with spare land allotment donate it to the group. (Say you have a prieum account, but never bought land, you have 512 sm unused land allotment.) The group buys the land and gets 10% land than if they tried to do it as a single person (instead of 2000 sm, 2200 sm). Then all members of the group can set that area to home if they don't have an actual SL home.
JennyJen 04-23-2008, 01:17 PM I got the hook up last night. I showed up looking not JJ at all and I got crap for it so Jo and Kelley gave me my SL makeover and now I'm looking a little more like the real JJ and not some pretend barbie doll...(I just need to work on the hair cause good lord)...last night was a total blast I stayed up past 2am playing around on it (not good when you have a 8am class) but it's all good...good times!!!!
Belisama 04-23-2008, 01:22 PM zackly what she said ::: points up :::
Our group is currently 11 members strong - 12 if Lissa accepts her invite :P - and we had a group chat last night. Very cool! We still need to get Jen's hair straightened out but Jo and I gave her the hook up with some hair, skins and clothes last night! I think Tigerlilly's man gave her some hair, too, if I remember correctly...
We've got a couple of members who do own parcels of land and, although we have basic membership now, there will be tiers and titles to go with everyone's membership names. Not quite sure what we're going to name the different tiers just yet but we're working on it.
AND, might I add, that our dear Jo-Admin. is as naughty and "un-admin" as she wants to be in SL? LOLOL!! She was all to happy to kick off her virtual shoes and pass the torch so you're all stuck with me for now. The cool thing is, until we decide as a group what rules to have (if any), my job is extremely easy! :bgrin2:
Oh! I'm also going to be creating a notecard that I'll give to everyone - the notecard will be a reference sheet so everyone can know who in Ageless is who in SL (and will include real life first names if you want)
Gabby 04-23-2008, 01:47 PM I have several buildings we can use as a clubhouse when I get back in SL...even two places: One gothic and one gold Louie the XIIII ish.
JennyJen 04-23-2008, 01:51 PM I feel like a SL addict now...:bgrin2:
Gabby 04-23-2008, 02:09 PM The thing about SL is that you can never see it all....
JennyJen 04-23-2008, 02:14 PM I'm so determined...I was in Africa last night then I hit a club..then it was bedtime!!! :(
This is gonna be the death of me I know it!!! :bgrin2:
Gabby 04-23-2008, 02:28 PM Yesssss, you will be one of usssss...you will say 'just five more mintues'....and you will buy Jimmi Chews for half price when real Jimmy Choo's are worth your entire years salary....you will begin to wish you had slider controls for your figure....and look for pose balls at the office....;)
JennyJen 04-23-2008, 02:36 PM Yesssss, you will be one of usssss...you will say 'just five more mintues'....and you will buy Jimmi Chews for half price when real Jimmy Choo's are worth your entire years salary....you will begin to wish you had slider controls for your figure....and look for pose balls at the office....;)
HAHHA oh I wanna go do that NOW!!!!! :D
Gabby 04-23-2008, 02:54 PM One thing about SL is it's great for Long Distance Realtionships...because you can go on dates etc.
My daughter and I go out in SL and do stuff togehter like a U2 cover band concert...Too much fun.
Belisama 04-23-2008, 03:07 PM Oh God, so true!!! That's how Lucent and I found the CSI thing and Africa... we're going to visit Venice soon and I want to find a good Tokyo. Oh and an amazing rain forest... and, let's see... there's also the SL Louvre, Israel, there's supposed to be a really spectacular mosque somewhere and there are countless amusement parks where you can go skydiving, ride ferris wheels, bumper boats, and a zillion other things!
It's really as Gabby said - you could spend your life in there and not see everything.
There are places where everyone's speaking Chinese... I've met a ton of people from Romania... Italy, you name it. Which reminds me - you'll want tool known as a "Babbler." It's invaluable because it's a translator. You speak in your own language and suddenly, your chat is multi-lingual. Can you imagine what it would be like if we could do that in real life???
Gabby 04-23-2008, 03:10 PM Where else can you say "I'm looking for a good Toyko" and not "looking for Tokyo?"
Try Gardens of Apollo, very beautiful. And on my profile is a link to a place you can float with your lover on a giant lilly pad down a river looking up at the stars....
Belisama 04-23-2008, 03:31 PM Other cool places:
Sky news has their own sim
The Grand Planetarium
Silk Waters Mountain
Hauwai Zoo (patterned after the real zoo in Hawaii)
American Apparel (yes, the real AA clothing company has a sim)
Ginsberg Art Center
The Sphere of Tranquility
Oh gosh, there are SO many more... this isn't even a teeny tiny scratch on the top of the iceberg!!
Bodhi Tree 04-23-2008, 03:32 PM Where else can you say "I'm looking for a good Toyko" and not "looking for Tokyo?"

I'm at the Lost Gardens of Apollo right now :) I'm there often
Gabby 04-23-2008, 05:00 PM I've been there a couple of times, usually on dates. My last date was with a lovely Polish man recovering from an motorcycle smack up. I miss him, but he had to go back to is real university student/swim team life after the hip to toes cast was removed...Oh well...So much for discussing art and books with someone who looked FINE in a speedo and had an accent!
Jo-Admin 04-23-2008, 10:39 PM I can't wait until you get back, Gabby. And I thought I changed your name here the other day, it must not have took.
Yeah, Im all kinds of...un-admin like there...can't help it people! Im happy to let Kelley lead the group and just let loose a little bit.
I
Gabby 04-23-2008, 10:44 PM Either that, or change my password on my old account so I can get into there. PM me the new password to the Gabby account. :D
Shewolf 04-24-2008, 05:34 AM SL the only place in you can stand out from the crowd by wearing your RL 'everyday style' clothes. LOL
I so need to learn how to script clothes LOL
I think I am addicted
OHLis 04-24-2008, 07:48 AM Im having fun exploring around...Nat helped me out yesterday with some clothes, and what not..very nice of her.
Jen and I discovered a sex club and had some hot girl on girl action, LOLOL. We were both in hysterics.
But aside from that im still kinda lost...not really getting the whole point of it...is it strictly a social venue? seems like most people I have seen just chat via IM and have their avi just standing around not doing much of anything. Is there a way to actually interact with others without the little balls? Like...can you hug someone or shake their hand? If so, Im not finding it.
Belisama 04-24-2008, 08:39 AM Yes there are scripts so you can actually hug someone and do other interactive actions as well but you have to get them (many of them are free).
Also, there is much, much, much more to do there than just social interaction that could be done just as well in an IM. If you read through some of the earlier posts in this thread, you'll see names of locations you can search for in the SL search box in-game. You can attend educational classes that may be of interest to you (some are in-game classes, such as learning how to script items; some are real life classes), discussions on a variety of topics - everything from religious discussions to book groups, and you can attend interactive concerts for just about any music genre you can think of, to name just a few ideas that come to mind off the top of my head.
OHLis 04-24-2008, 08:46 AM great, thanks Kel :)
I will do some more searching and exploring around.
JennyJen 04-24-2008, 09:46 AM [QUOTE=OHLis;564954]

We tried different postions to...let me tell you there is nothing funnier then having sex with one of your best friends online in a cartoon like setting!!!!
Leave it to me and Lissa to figure that part out but yet I still can't change my hair...Kel, Jo, I don't know what you're gonna do with me...I am a little ****!!!
Belisama 04-24-2008, 10:24 AM Oh yeah, definitely explore! I do like meeting people and visiting sometimes but I didn't really go there purely for the sake of chatting with people, you know? I found a place where people do virtual t'ai chi, a library, a museum for incredible, interactive art... the skydiving was cool and the balloon ride we took the other day was pretty cool, too :)
Gabby 04-24-2008, 12:33 PM Tip of the Day: Events
I was going to do something else for the tip of the day, but I try to let your comments guide me.
Anyone can plan an event and list it at secondlife.com. I figure after we get enough Ageless folks in there and a set of rules for the group we can have a mixer and list it in the events calendar and met more SL like minded folk (I'd like to have in the listing though we aren't a slave/master support group). But for now, let's look at going to some events.
In your search bar you'll see a listing for events and there are a lot of options for you to choose from such as Nightlife, Entertainment, Games, Music and it goes on and on but the one I most often search is Education. This Education shows the classes being held for the day, the cost if any, and a TP link to teleport to the class. Classes are for SL things, and for RL things. I took multi classes on building because **Bonus Tip: They give you free textures and stuff like poseballs!** I also took some classes in learning Spanish and Fung Shi.
If you look under the Discussion sub group you'll find a lot of poltics right now, and there are actual canidates for congress and stuff that come into SL. There's also support groups, Aminsty International, etc. London School of Journalism to offer lectures in Second Life.
SL on the surface looks very shallow...pretty clothes on impossably pretty people just chatting and hooking up. However, there is a lot of depth in SL, and a lot of schools and corporations are hooking into it as a learning/teaching tool. IBM, Ruters, and more have their own sims, and in world marketing is becoming a huge business.
The hard part, in such a huge world, is finding your niche!
Belisama 04-24-2008, 12:54 PM You know though, Gabby, I've met several people who are in SL age gap relationships... this might fill a void there because I haven't seen any AGR sites. Hmmm... definitely something to think about!
Here are some pics of our visit last night:
First, Lucent and I toured Africa and stumbled across an opportunity for a hot air balloon ride. Here we are (isn't the balloon pretty? Lucent was inspecting the balloon's interior for accuracy and it appears to have been done correctly LOL):
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/KelleyGreenEyez/HotAirBalloonRide_002-1.jpg
Then, a little later, since I liked it so much, I took some folks up for another, group-sized ride (notice diva Jo, too good for chairs like the rest of us, lounging on the floor of the balloon):
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/KelleyGreenEyez/HotAirBalloonRide_001-1.jpg
Gabby 04-24-2008, 01:11 PM You'll have to take me there when I get back in.
I know you're probably wondering why I'm not...I lost my job and haven't another yet, and my unemployment is hung up. So I turned off my connection and use my folks machine instead, but it's no way good enough to run SL. I'm down to my last 33 bucks, and that's less than ten gallons of job searching gas....*sigh*
I miss my SL....
tigerlilly5 04-24-2008, 09:54 PM You know Gabby... it's not quite the same but there is a "lite" interface you can use... you can't see any of the graphics etc. (or inventory or whatnot) but you would be able to at least log on and say hi to some of your friends (it does allow public and private chat). If you're interested I'll try to find the website for you tomorrow :)
Jo-Admin 04-25-2008, 12:19 PM Believe you me, It's not that Im too good to sit in the chair, it's that I never know what the heck Im doing...lol
Gabby 04-25-2008, 12:55 PM Thanks Lily, but my folks comp freezes up when I try to use chat and look at another page at the same time. So, even the lite would be too much for this old thing. I keep wanting to take it in and get it serviced, but their phone (and by extention Mom's Lifeline alert system) goes thru the comp.
Gabby 04-25-2008, 02:59 PM Tip of the Day...Gotta love SLX!
http://slexchange.com/ is your friend....
Search SLexchange and go to the SL main island to register your inworld account with the main SLX forum. While waiting to confirm go to the link above and search for all the freebies your little heart desires. Coz I tell you, looking for the right pair of shoes etc in world can be a big pain in the butt. Or chimes. Or a teal rug. SLX you can browse and mark things as faves, then when your in world send them to yourself. You can even send gifts to friends, but usually not the free stuff.
What I do is use the advanced search and key in 2 to 5 stars, 0 to 10 linden costs. The stars are the rating of the items. I've got some wonderful stuff there.
Haraio 04-26-2008, 10:41 AM Okay, you know...
We should add up a list of the people on Ageless, with both their Ageless Name and their Second Life name^^
Just copy this list and add your name!^^
Haraio - Haakon Schumann
Hao - Natasja Schumann
:tongue2:
Gabby 04-26-2008, 11:11 AM Here go you go! (http://www.agelesslove.com/boards/showthread.php?p=565293#post565293)
I put up a small list and some links, and folks can put up there names instead of having to scroll thru our now LARGE thread.
Haraio 04-26-2008, 03:30 PM Woot! Good going Gabby! ^_^
Guess what?
Me and Nat were looking at... beds... a while ago, and we found a couple of beds that made us roll over in laughter. When you were on the pose balls, your avatar's mouth would be wide open, like the Scream. I dunno about other people, but I would not be turned on by looking at that :bgrin2:
Gabby 04-26-2008, 03:49 PM I have a selection of beds, but the one I really want is WAY out of my price range....and for good reasons! ;)
JennyJen 04-26-2008, 05:24 PM I want to change my SL name to Cracklin' Rosie!!!
Gabby 04-28-2008, 02:01 PM Tip of the day: Gestures, AO's and Multitools
I have the Mystitool which when I type /hug Tojo a little thingie pops up on Tojo's screen and asks if I accept the hug. If he says yes, we hug. This is much more convent than poseballs, as you can walk and talk anywhere. You can find it on SLX. You can also search the term 'wallet' for a simlar product.
Gestures you've probably seen even if you didn't know what you were seeing at the time. It's when a avvie suddenly does a sound or movment like a laugh or what not, espically popular at gaming places, such as throwing their head back and laughing.
AO stands for Animation Override. When you get your avvie it walks a certain way, stands a certain way, etc. When you get a AO it overrides the default to a new set of movements to be more human, more cat like, more ****ty, whatever movements you like. A lot of them are sold preloaded, or you can get a free ZAHO one at Yadni's and add which ever ones you want.
Bodhi Tree 05-12-2008, 02:49 PM I rezed 8 cushions in a circle on the ground at my house just for you guys, so anytime you decide to have an Ageless gathering do let me know .
Jo-Admin 06-06-2008, 05:22 PM Can we schedule a get-together some time in SL?
And what are you all up to there anyway?
On Saturdays I am helping set up and hostessing live music at an open air venue, and Im also helping set up and hostess SL's 5th birthday party coming up the end of this month.
I haven't been able to spend as much time on there as I would like to...but Im still active there.
Whats up in your Second Lives?
OHLis 06-07-2008, 02:18 PM My second life has come to a halt.
The game has lost its luster for me. I spent a couple of weeks trying to get in to it...roaming around, talking to people, visiting places...and well...it got old. Fast.
I guess im missing the whole point of it. It just seems like a big chat room with avatars to me.
JennyJen 06-07-2008, 03:37 PM It ended for me as well. Like Liss, I walked around got some stuff, had sex with OHLis about 3 times (LOL) and then it was over!
:bgrin2:
Rozie 06-07-2008, 04:08 PM I want to change my SL name to Cracklin' Rosie!!!
Excellent taste in names!!

You totally crack me up, Jen!!
On a serious note, sometimes we just have to be somewhere else besides RL. That's where I was when I played Sim's online and I don't ever look at that as time wasted. Now RL just seems more fun and challenging and necessary.
OHLis 06-07-2008, 05:58 PM Ahh Jen, we will always have the SL memories of when
Daisy and Amelia had the beaver fever.
Goodtimes, goodtimes. :bgrin2:
Haraio 06-07-2008, 08:21 PM Hehe, me and Nat went to a wedding just now^^ It was very fun, except for the fact that the groom (almost wrote broom :tongue2: lol) fell asleep over the keyboard when he was gonna walk into the church. So idiot :p
But yeah, we had some fun dancing and listening to music, and the bride promised that she would slaughter her would-be husband :bgrin2:
JennyJen 06-07-2008, 09:22 PM Excellent taste in names!!
You totally crack me up, Jen!!
Thank you it's a gift...just comes naturally... :bgrin2:

Yes lovie... nothing is better then having cyber/cartoon sex with one of your best friends...
Goodtimes, goodtimes indeed lovie! LOL
:tongue2:
Gabby 06-30-2008, 07:27 PM I missed all the good stuff!
And STILL don't have access, which is really pissing me off as of the 19th my hot young swim team guy PMed me and it came to my email that he was back in game...and I'm missing seeing him! Yarg!
Jo-Admin 07-17-2008, 02:22 PM Well, for me it basically is a big chat with avatars... :)
I don't spend a much time there as I once did...I still do some live music concerts on Saturday nights, and sometimes when it's slow at work I let it run in the background there and see if someone I know comes on to talk to. I think people think Im on all the time because I leave it running though...lol
I did get burned out on it after about 8 weeks...
JennyJen 07-17-2008, 03:11 PM I think for the most part it dies pretty fast. Like I said I had my fun but it's pretty much over now. I'm not a gamer at all and what ever little game doesn't last longer then a month!
