MidniteRayne 03-24-2003, 11:52 PM Dreamcatcher, Cradle 2 the grave, The one, Chopper, 8 mile, resident evil, The mothman prophosys, Momento, Changing lanes, Snatch, Road to prodition, Crouching tiger hidden dragon,
Minority report, Equilibrium.
These are just a few to mention.
Yehhhhhh I luv a good movie. not to mention all the ones I have not put on the list. check these ones out.
pictman 03-25-2003, 03:04 PM I liked Bourne Identity, which was good fun, and I also recently saw City of God which is a movie about Brazil in the favela slums and is totally worth trying to find. I had to drive 1/2 hour to find a theater that showed it. It is both serious, sad, funny, and traumatic, just like life there.
MidniteRayne 03-26-2003, 11:18 AM You kidding? I have the DVD of Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels,. :) about Equilibrium, I did not think so. I took it for what it was worth, a film on it's own. Besides I think there are HUNDREDS of films that would remind us of other movies. I seen American psycho, and liked it and got into the guys acting, that is why I wanted to see Equilibrium, AN I'M GLAD I DID. 2 THUMBS UP from this gal.
Pictman,
Bourne Identity was a good film also :)
MidniteRayne 03-26-2003, 12:24 PM 3000 Miles to Graceland, Good fellas, Reservoir dogs, The score, True romance, Suicide Kings, Donnie brasco.
MidniteRayne 03-27-2003, 01:05 PM haha Ya I hesitated graetly on even renting Psycho 2, and one day decided uhhhhhh what the heck, and rented it. My oh my you know where it should of been left? on the rental shelf, cause it sucked big time. *laughs*
Yes such films made it over here, but have to say the movie Chopper was only for rententing and they only had 1 in stock, I liked the film so much, I ended up ordering the DVD to buy it, and have watched it a few times :). check it out if you have not heard or seen it, it's with------------------Eric Bana.
American Beauty, Cast away, Fallen, Vanilla Sky, Gladiator, The Sixth Sense, Shawshank Redemption, agreed good films:)
Hey lets not forget oldie but goodie........SCARFACE. ya I know on and on......good to see you have good taste.....sheesh we must watch alot of movies uh? lol
MidniteRayne 03-28-2003, 11:05 AM Never seen nor heard of Mulholland Drive. besides being confused, did it leave you wanting more? should I look for it, and try watching it? is it worth it? *lol* like a kid.
Never read the novel.
My all time fave dracula movie, was bram stoker's dracula.
EMCAD80 03-28-2003, 11:45 AM Looks to me like I have come to the right place! I am a HUGE movie buff. I've noticed that the GODFATHER movies were not listed in the above posts!! Those are some of the best movies! To let you in on my obsession w/ movies. I have 300 VHS movies until last July when I bought a DVD player I started on my DVD collection which is a little over 200! I tend to buy movies and not watch them right away...sometimes I forget I have them. I recently bought ROAD TO PERDITION....I noticed MIDNIGHT gave it props....gonna have to watch that one now.
I'm a receptionist for a law firm that has a low volume of calls. So I organize my movies....I love all movies - comedy, musicals, romance, action, sci-fi to foreign films. Has anyone seen Amelie - have it, still haven't watched it but heard it was good.
Lately I've been watching a lot of comedy...anyone seen VAN WILDER or THE SWEETEST THING! OMG....these movies are ROTFLMAO funny!
Haven't been to the movie theatre lately, but hope to - well I saw Chicago (which was good w/ the eception of Richard Gere's singing.) At any rate, trying to make time to see THE HUNTED!
MidniteRayne 03-28-2003, 01:06 PM Welcome:)
Ohhh ya forgot that one, the Godfather, how the heck did we forget? Hmmm well to many movies that we like luv, and hate kinda gets mixed up in the jar, you know when it's being SHAKEN.:)
Don't you find DVD'S quality to be much better when watching movies? I was like you many VHS's then switched to DVD'S now it's nothing but, and have a huge collection aswell.
I'm telling your BOSS ON YOU *nanananana* shame on you working on your movie collection, work should always come first!!! ((((((YA RIGHT))))))) lol *nudge*
Seen VAN WILDER and The Sweetest Thing! *for that category, good movies* :)
what about 40 days and 40 nights?,* in that category*seen it, liked it. *smile*
Oh here is another one you guys should check out. Formula 51.
*Keep the movies rolling* WAIT.............................I need popcorn.
pictman 03-28-2003, 01:11 PM Anyone for Moulin Rouge? I loved all the music in it. I grew up with Bowie, Elton, and U2! How about Kylie Minogue as the green fairy? Parts of that movie were magic. Sometimes it moves so fast its hard to keep up, but I highly recommend it. Especially if you are a hopeless romantic like me!!;)
EMCAD80 03-28-2003, 01:21 PM That has got to be one of my all time fav movies!!! mmm...Ewan looked very yummy in that movie. Who knew that both he and Kidman could sing!? But yes...definatly for the romantics!
pictman 03-28-2003, 01:25 PM Hey EM- I saw Amelie about 2 months ago and really liked it. Its one of those movies that you have to watch several times to catch all the good stuff. It moves fast too, and being in French, well your reading the subtitles... Lucky you with your 200 movies, wow I was pretty proud of my 10 DVD library! I'm a movie freak. I even worked as a projectionist for a summer. That was fun. It was an old system with 2 movie cameras and I always had to watch for the cue when to switch over to the other projector. I still do that when I see an older movie on TV and they have that little blip circle thing up in the right corner of the frame, I subconsciously go 'click' :D
EMCAD80 03-28-2003, 01:32 PM The quality of DVD's is far better than DVD...didn't quite see it till I bought the S-Cable...he he. I also like all the feature and extras that come w/ DVD's.
As for the boss thing...I'm his blockbuster. Since I've made a disgusting display of orgaization of my movies...which shows off my anal side....it's easier for him to pick out a movie he wants to borrow. I have movies seperated by actor, by genre, by release date and then alphabetically. Each movie speil sheet has the name, genre, a pitcture, a brief discription, MPAA rating, release date and the five main actors. I know...it's so sad and pathetic.
40 Days and 40 Nights....total plus! One that I love was UNFAITHFUL.....mmm...Richard Gere....Some of those scenes were pretty hot n' heavy. Yikes!
Movies that I love: ALL KEVIN SMITH MOVIES:Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Clerks, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back....it's so fabulous!
The ONLY bad thing about movies is that they never come true. I live in movie land where I always wish that my life was like it was in the movies!
EMCAD80 03-28-2003, 01:36 PM I loved being a projectionist...the best part was HAVING to sit and watch all new incoming movies just in case things went wrong we could report it. However, the down side was i was a bad date...dinner and a movie? I had already seen them all! :D
pictman 03-28-2003, 01:59 PM Hey EM -
I see that you have the quote in your posting from the movie... That's actually from a jazz classic called nature boy... I was amazed how they wove together different songs and styles of music. Wow. Have you ever seen Cyrano De Bergerac w/ Depardieu? That's one of my all time faves.
pictman 03-28-2003, 02:06 PM You were a projectionist too? What a coinkydink. That's cool. It was fun but could be nerve wracking like if the movie broke or something. Sweating bullets. I had free access to Hagen Daz bars, though - soooo a little bit of a trade off there.:p Hey you look different, did you fix your hair?
EMCAD80 03-28-2003, 03:41 PM I've never seen Cyrano De Bergerac - but have heard good things about it :) someone else told me that my quote was from Nature Boy (i think). I love Moulin Rouge - can quote it almost word for word :)
I would get free popcorn - movie theatre popcorn is the best!
And no - this new pic is about 6 years old...but I have one of those faces that don't ever change...I still look like I'm 16 :p
EMCAD80 03-31-2003, 12:36 PM i had to take a double glance at my pic...I guess I could see where you would think I was in pain...but at that point in time I was laughing hysterically....LOL!
Movies I saw this weekend...
UNFAITHFUL Loved it....however the OM can't watch it...it has to do with Richard Gere's wife cheating on him w/ a younger man!!! That's my honeys fear...so that's a no no for him :) Really good plot, some good steamy sex scenes .... the only problem I had was the dyed color of Richard Gere's hair....totally not natural!
Scooby-Doo yes...I was at a friends house and she has a 3 yr old boy. Really cute movie, it had great computer graphics dubbed in with real actors. Matthew Lillard hit Shaggy's voice right on!
Shrek yeah...er....right...like I said w/ a friend with a 3 yr old boy...However, it was so cute. It had adult humor as well things children are entertained by.
Y Tu Mama Tambien whoa!! Opens with a steamy sex scene....even though they are 16 or so...still...it catches your attention real quick. The movie is definatly different, I'll give it that. Although I felt it was more sad than anything else.
Rat Race I've notice Cuba Gooding Jr. isn't doing such serious rolls...more comedy and even small rolls (Pearl Harbor). I loved Men of Honor. Anywho, Rat Race had it's moments, I love all movies so I thought this was cute too.
Can you tell I spent the weekend with my friend watching movies...lol.
EMCAD80 03-31-2003, 01:01 PM watched Goodfellas last night...i enjoyed it. I have never watched many gangster movies, but this was a good film. I guess i`ll have to go with your other suggestion and watch the Godfather movies
You MUST watch the Godfather trilogy!!! I never had the urge to watch them....my ex used to beg me...then when we broke up, I decided to watch them. Awh, great movies....Al Pacino was hot in his day...actually he still is a handsome catch.
Try these: Godfather I, II & III, Scarface, Hoodlum, A Bronx Tale, Carlito's Way, Casino, Deuces Wild, Empire, The Untouchables - and if you can find it try looking for the KINGPIN series, oh along w/ the Sopranos....good stuff. Did I miss any? I'm sure I did. For some reason, after the Godfather movies, I got real into the Crime and Gangster movies. You know, mafia stuff...love it! :)
Oh & Lonestar - no offense was taken! :) :) :D
pictman 03-31-2003, 05:45 PM EM-
I like how you keep everyone on their toes with your revolving avatar picture. :) You know I used to live in Napa, and I waited on Sofia Coppola twice. She was pretty cool, but I have to say she's unfortunately an awful actress. Wasn't she in 'Godfather III' because Why-nona skipped out on the film? I never saw it or only saw part of it... I loved the first 2 films, maybe I should take it in again.
I also recommend a kitschy but good film called 'CQ' which is a film directed by none other than Francis' son, Roman Coppola. You have to get the DVD for the extras- you'll see what I mean. Sofia has a non-speaking cameo role which she pulled off without any hitches.;)
MidniteRayne 03-31-2003, 11:14 PM Lonestar,
Glad you liked chopper...............................I loved it so much i watched it 3 times already! laughs.
about Mulholland Drive, I'll rent it this weekend comming and let you know what I thought!:)
EMCAD80 04-01-2003, 11:13 AM Maid in Manhattan last night. What can i say....I'm a sucker for romance. It was cute :)
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 04-16-2003, 07:29 PM Could not find Mulholland Drive, at my movie rental place, had them call one of the other locations, nothing came up *HUMPH* Will check a different movie place, dislike going to the competetors *laughs*
Seen SORRITY BOYS------no comment
JACKASS the MOVIE------Don't try these at home *laughs* liked it, however was tired of seeing one of the dudes in his T-bar through the show dancing like a fruitypatooty, got old after awhile.
Jingles 04-22-2003, 09:32 PM DITTO on unfaithful..that was a good movie...especially the ending! (except for the steamy scenes!)
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 04-22-2003, 09:32 PM Have not found it yet. I have now told a few close friends to keep an eye out for it.....CALLING OUT TO ANY LOCAL BC'ers......if you know where I can find Mulholland Drive, LET ME KNOW *please*
Yeh it was interesting thirteen ghosts:) I think it was oddly interesting I liked it *laughs*
Texas Chainsaw Massacre? never seen it? hmmmm that should be an interesting one for you.I did like it in a B-GRADE KINDA WAY *lol*
can't wait to see the newer MATRIX AND HULK *woooooohooo*
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 04-23-2003, 06:09 PM Between I dig your AVTAR
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 04-25-2003, 08:45 PM Ummmm next to my avtar? that's my bestfriend,
how could you not tell with all those human features? *rayne thinks for a sec* Oh come now...you mean you realy didn't know that I'm the furry beast in the pict?and my tongue fliped upword? :+)
mikanobie 04-26-2003, 03:15 AM Has anyone seen the North Korean film "Pulgasari" made by that crazy little Kim Jong-il dictator? I read that it's funny to watch even though most of the actors did not have an option to turn the offer down.
Flytrapp 05-03-2003, 10:06 PM Lonestar_stevo... if you liked Texas Chain Saw Massacre, you'd probably enjoy Rob Zombie's movie, House of a 1000 Corpses. Really gruesome, nicely done, lots of hack and slash.
Flytrapp 05-05-2003, 08:50 PM Yes, Stevo, he is a rock star... years ago it was White Zombie, but a more recent notable song with lots of airplay was Dragula.
Here's a snippet about the movie itself:
Universal was originally scheduled to release the movie, but chairman Stacey Snider backed out after screening an unfinished version in February 2001 . "The film is a significant accomplishment for Rob, yet there is a visceral tone and intensity that we did not imagine from the printed page," Snider said at the time.
The $7 million "House of 1000 Corpses," which was filmed partially on a Universal lot in the summer of 2000, is about two young couples whose car breaks down near a small town of creepy characters. Zombie, who has directed videos for himself, Ozzy Osbourne and others, wrote and directed the horror flick.
Zombie said he had to edit the movie down to an R rating for MGM.
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 05-05-2003, 09:55 PM Did you see TRAPPED? It was a good *^5...not to mention keven bacon suits his nutcase roll.:), check it out if you haven't already.
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 05-16-2003, 11:25 PM Catch me if you can. *liked it*:)
ukfireball 05-18-2003, 05:56 PM I saw that film a couple of months ago, it was cool! It was just incredible how he got away with all that stuff, he must have been really valuble to the FBI.
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 05-23-2003, 11:55 AM OHHHHH MY......................................WHY DID IT END THE WAY IT DID? Concluded? what? for how long? it left me hanging * didn't like being left on a string* now I have to wait till who knows how long for PART 3! arghhh. however the movie all in all was worth seeing. *sticks tongue out*
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 05-24-2003, 12:41 AM *BIG SMILE*
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 05-26-2003, 03:58 PM Have not seen x-man2 yet.
haha you know I think in matrix the love scene was a little to long and to much for my taste, the first one she was a kick-*** babe, and in the second, they tend to of made her brain more mooshed out cause she's inluv with Neo. *what does this go to tell us? woman become weeker cause their so inluv?* anyhow just my opinion.
Heard on the radio this morning that the new MOVIE with Jim carrey grossed in more this past weekend than Matrix, all together. Will have to see this movie this weekend:)
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 06-23-2003, 05:45 PM About Schmidt : Liked it *** out of ***** maybe even **** out of ***** sometimes it made me feel hell i'll give it even ***** out of ***** *check it out*

Gregory Peck just passed away too, and they announced his passing on NPR and then played the audio from a scene from the movie where he pleads to the jury to do the just thing, and it just sent chills all over. That is one of my all time favorite movies!
nafadda 07-22-2003, 06:15 PM yep pictman,it's a classic.Gregory Peck just like his character Aticus Finch was a REAL gentleman.a class act. It's no wonder his character was voted the #1 movie hero of all time.

IS PARIS BURNING?
Good film. Even has some original footage from 1944.
VenusScorpio 10-12-2003, 10:08 AM The most recent Movies I've watched: Catch Me If You Can:cool:
The Italian Job (ok) The second Fast and The Furious (of course for the car racing scenes) Anger Management(lol!!) and The Ring!
Ok, not as scary as I thought but I did like it and have to watch it again...I just didn't get the end.
last1standing 10-13-2003, 10:47 PM I saw a lot of my favorite movies mentioned in other's posts. A few I didn't see mentioned:
The Thomas Crowne Affair
Dusk 'Til Dawn (and most everything else from the mind of Q. Tarantino)
A Few Good Men
Oceans Eleven
Both installments in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy
The Sting (all time favorite)
I was fortunate enough to get to spend a couple of years after college living out my childhood dream -- playing baseball professionally. Because of this, there are a few other movies that merit special mention, even though they might not have been "great movies" in the traditional sense.
Field of Dreams, which -- as well as anything could -- captures the essence of why the game is such a spiritual experience for some of us, and
Major League, which is mostly a farce, but is absolutely dead-on-the-money with regard to the spirit and tone of clubhouse humor.
