Hi, everyone.
I joined this site because someone I met in a Yahoo chatroom told me about it.
I am 37, and my husband is 22. We met in a Yahoo chatroom for "Books and Literature, Room 2", where we both visited often. After talking online for a couple of months, then on the phone, he broke the news to me that he was interested in me "like that" and wanted to meet me. It took a while before I could get up the nerve, considering he was only 19 at the time and I was 35, with an 8 year old daughter. But, I took a chance at meeting him, and I'm glad I did - what most people at the time viewed my relationship with him a complete mistake, it turned out to be something so beautiful.
Within a couple of hours of meeting me, he proposed to me. We spent that first weekend in a small Ohio town getting to know each other, and then, four days later, he made the commute back to Ohio again from Missouri, and we eloped, moving in together to a new town, and getting married as soon as the paperwork went through by the JP in a tiny little Ohio courthouse. It didn't matter to us that there were 15 years between us, 9 hours between our hometowns, and a world of other differences.
Our story was so "romantic" and different that Yahoo caught wind of it in their chatroom and interviewed us for a story online! We have been married over two years now, and while being almost two decades apart has its challenges in our relationship, I think we are both enjoying it - in spite of all the negative things people have to say about it sometimes.
