I guess it could be about personal preference, but certainly not always. I had no idea that I'd marry a man 14 years younger than I. I didn't pursue him, that's for sure and I was really shocked by how vigorously he pursued me. We just had a great deal lin common. We had, and still have terrific, complex conversations, debates and share a lot of common interests.

He had no idea I was 14 years older than he was. In fact age never came up until we were on a cruise. I went to the bar for a drink and the bartender wanted my ID in order to serve me a drink. Damn! I was 40 at the time and proud of it. I showed my ID and got my drink of course and was surprised to see my YM laughing it up. It wasn't about the age. It was just the idea that a 40-year-old woman had to show her ID and give the bartender a lecture to get a drink that had him cracking up.

All laughs aside. We've been together for 10 years and are very happy. So I think great relationships are far more about personal chemistry and the ability to keep a sense of humor and a positive outlook on life. Love, laughter, and optimism -- these are the weapons of the angels.
