As odd as it sounds there is something simple that you can try, it has been very successful for many people, including myself. (and if nothing else, it can't hurt to try)

Take a bar of soap (any kind will do) put it under your bottom sheet near the (1 1/2 to 2 ft) end of your bed. That's it. Not many doctors will suggest it, yet as I said it has given relief to many people.

I don't know why it works - I'm just happy it does.

(I'm not crazy lol)

If I cut down the caffiene and chocolate, it seems to make a big difference.

Good sleep hygiene helps as well. It gets much worse when you are over-tired.

Reducing caffeine and other triggers is a good start. Triggers can include cola drinks or certain over the counter medications.

Wishing you restful legs.

Oh I used to have this and it drove me CRAZY!!!!!!

I have cut out all foods with Splenda in them. It took a while to figure out what was setting it off for me. I really felt Diet Coke was wreaking havoc with my legs and once I got rid of that, things got much better.
I also make a point of stretching my muscles in my calves and Achilles tendons. I have never had an incident again.

Best of luck!

I had this a few years back. I would always get it right before I would fall asleep at night; it would tingle and feel numb. I never went to the doctor or took meds. It went away after a few months. I'm almost certain it was because I wasn't getting a lot of excersize at that time, plus I was sleeping in a tiny twin sized bed and felt cramped.

Anyhoo...sorry can't help about the meds part....hopefully yours just goes away like mine did!
