I'm a little shy and I don't usually do this, but I've been lurking for some time, so I figured I would introduce myself. I'm a 23yr old guy from Brooklyn, NY, and I've been in a relationship with a Woman who is 18yrs my senior, for nearly a year now(how time flies!). This seems like such a friendly community, so I thought I would join in...
~Guinavere~ 06-10-2008, 02:05 AM Welcome! How did you meet?
We actually met through the internet. I remember that right after meeting her for the first time it felt like I was floating through the clouds, and I couldn't stop thinking about her. There is definitely something precious about first time encounters, though sadly those feelings don't always last...
~Guinavere~ 06-10-2008, 05:28 AM Have you met face to face yet?
I met my husband via the internet too. I think many here have met their SO that way.
Why do you say those feelings don't last?
We met face to face nearly a year ago.
Well, I feel those feelings can last, but in my case, after I got to really know her, she was too different from my first impression. I guess that's expected from most people, but although I adore her, maybe we're just not compatible.
~Guinavere~ 06-10-2008, 09:35 PM That's why it's really important to get to know someone before committing to a realtionship too quickly. There are situations where it's love at first sight and chemistry is strong. And some of those relationships are long lasting, but for the most part I think it's important to get to know someone by going through the seasons with them. Studies have shown that people behave differently in different seasons. It's a good way to identify a person who suffers seasonal depression, etc.
But spending time together will of course show whether you are compatible enough to get through a long term relationship.

Irto:
Welcome. Though I'm not in a relationship with a younger woman, nor any woman for that matter, and I could be considered a "lurker," too, this community feels like a family to me as I've made friends here. Everyone here is decent, kind-hearted, and all too willing to help and support other members. There's no finer community on the web than this one. Though I haven't dated anyone from here, nor found any prospects as such, I'm still happy as a clam to be a member. You won't regret joining...

Welcome from out of the shadows Irto. I spent a lot of time on another site lurking and would tease people with little sayings like *from the dark appears* or *disappears back into*.
Here, well I'm kinda stuck being out and I'm adjusting well...or so they say. :D
Welcome to posting and I hope you are getting adjusted. I look forward to reading your posts.

Interesting. I never even considered the parallels between changing seasons and how it affected our relationship... Since we're getting back to the time of year when we first met, hopefully our relationship will be more similar to a year ago.
