Importing Contacts to Outlook

Oh, the fun, fun, fun of it all...getting my software and everything up-to-speed so that my home office is truly functional.

I haven't used Outlook in a couple of years. I just installed Outlook 2007. I'm not having problems importing or exporting my contacts' info but they import with a default File As setting of Last, First. I've played around with the Address Book settings but still can't figure out how to change how names are listed without doing each one manually (ick!). Not really an option as my mailing lists are growing.

There are certain views where I can see them listed First, Last, like Business Cards, but they're still listed alpha by last name (my first contact's first name starts with T and last name starts with A). In Contacts view, there is a column that lists names alpha by first name but the File As view still shows Last, First.

I'd really like to have the File As import default as First, Last so that I can see this info this way in Bus Card View, and so I can find people alpha by their first name.

Any thoughts?

Things You’ll Need:
Computers
Microsoft Outlook
Step1 Select Import and Export from the File menu.
Step2 Click on one of the Import action items to read a description of what that action is. You will probably choose either "Import from another program or file" or "Import Internet Mail and Addresses."
Step3 Cancel and add file converters from your Office CD or Microsoft's Web site if the description indicates that will be necessary. Install converters and return to the import process.
Step4 Click Next.
Step5 Choose the file type you're importing, then click Next.
Step6 Click Contacts under "Select a destination folder," then click Next.
Step7 Review the actions and options in the Import list and make changes if desired.
Step8 Click Finish.
Step9 Click the Contacts icon in the left-hand window to view your contacts. See if the import was successful.

The import works but I can't get it to default to listing contacts by their first names.

I'm also having trouble with syncing to my new phone. But I think I just need to call customer service.

Technology! :banghead:
