Have you been surprised at how much people have focused on your relationship with Rene?
I think it interests people. They want to know everything about you. They don't only want to see you onstage, they want to know what your bedroom looks like, what kind of meal you're cooking for your husband, what are your favorite slippers, how do you look in the morning. I think it's just normal, just part of show business. I think it's up to you to give as much as you want and keep a few things for yourself.
Does it ever feel like the attention is too much?
I'm not screaming my private life to everybody. But I don't have anything to hide. If they ask me something private and I don't want to answer, I'm going to say, "I'm sorry, if you don't mind, it's discreet, and I would love to keep it to myself." There's nothing wrong with that.
How do feel about criticism that Rene has too much control over you? Or the comments about the 26-year age difference? Do these things hurt you?
I don't know about those things. I don't read newspapers. I don't need to look at a newspaper to know who I am, what I like and what I don't like. I know what I did and what I didn't do, who I am, where I want to go, what I want to be. I love Rene. I think we're the perfect team. He has been my manager for 15 years. We grew up together. We have the same goals, the same dreams.
