I absolutely LOVE horses...raised several MORGANS while i was growing up...showed on the county and state fair level...rode the 'circuit'....unfortunately, live in TOWN today...ahhh lifestyles...wish i could say that i lived on a farm...so think about another member here whose children get to watch the ducks=)...but would DEARLY love to move to the country again so that we could raise horses. I go regularly to the stables and ride...for all the Texans on the board..ive NEVER riden western:(but ride English...my sister rides western tho=). Just commenting on the fact that i truly thought that Funny Cide would pull off the triple crown:( All in all, he gave us a wonderful 'showing' and I, for one, was pleased to have had the pleasure of watching him run=)

Funny Cide didn't make it??
I was so interested in the story how the 5 guys bought him for 5 grand each! Dang! I was hoping he would have won!!
PS My grandparents owned a riding stable when I was younger, yep even had my own horse, I named her Tammy :)

:( Yes, dogonnit, I wanted so badly for him to win...just knew he could do it! Wonder if the wet track could've been a factor. Thought it would've been weird to have a gelding as a Triple Crown winner though.

My sentiments exactly, Dabrake . . . should never geld one until you see if he can run!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a waste.

Wow, singalou.. another thing we have in common! I love horses too. I had lived on a ten acre place with my parents and kids in a small town near Joliet, IL up until about a year ago. We had lived there together quite happily for about three years. We had three horses.. my favorite though, was a chestnut quarter horse gelding, who at one time was trained to be a cutter. He was awesome! Extremely fast, could stop on a dime, do flying lead changes. (I ride western pleasure). Unfortunately, my father passed away last year, and we had to sell everything, including the horses. We are doing better now though, and I'm back in the city, but I do miss my horsies! :(
(I don't miss cleaning stalls too much though.. haha)
