Rhad's great news!

I've just had one of the best weekends of my life. I went on a short roadtrip with the YW and her family this weekend, which meant that we spent just about all of Friday and Saturday together. It was great.

And to top it all off, she told me last night that her mom had had a talk with her. She's figured out what's going on, and she's fully supportive. In fact, she said that when she first figured it out, she didn't even think about my age, she was just happy. And se talked with her dad about it (the YW's grandfather), who also gave his support!

We still have to work on her dad, because he's still not ready to accept it. But even so, it's a major victory for us. I think he's still just got a problem with the idea of his "little girl" dating anybody, more than a problem with me in particular. And I think that we can overcome that, because I know the whole family pretty well, and I think that eventually he'll accept me a lot easier than he'd accept most other people.

Man, I can't believe things are going this well. Things never go this well for me. As happy as I am, I'm scared to death that something awful is going to happen soon to offset all this joy.

That all sounds terrific, Rhad.

As happy as I am, I'm scared to death that something awful is going to happen soon to offset all this joy.

Isn't it funny how humans are always borrowing trouble and fearing the worst? You would probably be worried about possible problems regardless, even if things weren't going so well. Don't worry about jinxing it, just enjoy!:) :) :)

Congrat's Rhad!

One major hurdle/milestone covered with a victory on your sides!

Wasn't it George Carlin that said "don't sweat the petty things & don't pet the sweaty things" ?......anyhoo...no sense not enjoying the great news and living in the moment.

We had a great day going today (out cruising in the car, stopped at a park had a picnic, fed the ducks 'most' of the leftovers, stopped at a deer ranch and walked around looking at the animals, cruised the back country roads, stopped at a couple friends and visited) At one friends place he told me he needed me to help him do a side job that might take a couple weekends but would be great pay for both of us. (I said sure let me know if it comes through and when)

After we left and were going down another road C was all quiet & I asked her what was wrong? She was bummed that I would be working for a couple weekends and it may cut into our together time!

Now here we were having a wonderful day, and she wanted to bum out over something in the future that may or may not even take place. I asked her if she realized this was cutting into our together time right now? Small bum out fixed in a matter of moments!

My point, Don't let your fears keep you from enjoying what you already have

Another quote from the movie Road Trip....."seize the carp"

Don

Hehe... I should clarify that I'm nowhere near as worried as I made it sound in that post. Yeah, somewhere in the back of my head is that nagging fear, but it's not really interfering in my enjoyment of the good because I'm one of the most laid back people I know.

While I'm at it, though, thanks to everybody here for your support. It's really helped a lot. And the main reason I posted this thread in the first place was to share some encouraging news with everybody - sometimes it seems like you only hear the bad news on these boards, because when things are going well we're too busy enjoying life to come here and tell everybody about it. :)

the fact that we do hear a lot of bad news and or end up supporting those with bumps in the road, so it is great to here good news as often as possible. congratulations and thanks for showing us that the light at the end of the tunnel might not be a train coming after all. lol

Good on ya Rhad!:)

Sounds like you're shoring up votes in an election. You've blocked in the mother and the grandfather...

... getting the father might be like the Democrats trying to take Texas, or the Republicans California!

But maybe... you're already elected!:)

ROTFLMAO!

I hope it's not that bad! :) Actually, I think he'll come around, it just may take a little while. Or a long while.

I've never really thought of it in election terms, but that's not a bad analogy.
