I just watched this TV program on judgments in Tahiti, and there was this terrible story of a 23 year old man who was physically violent and abusive towards his 43 year old partner and her 5 children.
The defense lawyer tried to convince the judge that because the partner was an old woman, old enough to be his mother http://pages.prodigy.net/indianahawkeye/newpage05/17.gif, and therefore was probably manipulating him, he was under lots of pressure and deserved some understanding.
Now, isn't that horrible? A female lawyer, probably on her thirties, using arguments like that? I am shocked.
Ok, so I should know that many lawyers (my sister is one) will say whatever they need to say in order to avoid prison to their clients, but argghh, this argument was particularly shocking.
