rollypolly 07-18-2003, 10:46 PM If you were granted the opportunity to have dinner w/ five famous people, who would you choose? My five would be:
1. Jesus Christ - I have always wanted to know what it is like to give your life to save the souls of many.
2. Aristotle - Arguably the greatest thinker to ever walk the face of the Earth.
3. Charles Schulz - Everyone has a little bit of Charlie Brown in them, and everyone strives to have Snoopy's confidence.
4. Teddy Roosevelt - The supreme jack of all trades. Is there anything this guy could not do well? His ghost has been known to appear at the Menger Hotel Bar in my hometown of San Antonio, where he was once stationed in the U.S. Army.
5. Harry Caray - Those who are not baseball fans will have no idea who he was. In my own opinion, he was the greatest broadcaster to ever call the game of baseball. He defined half of my childhood by being the reason why I became hooked on the Chicago Cubs.
Genevieve 07-18-2003, 10:56 PM Dinner's on me..
1. Thomas Jefferson - just think of the conversations you could have with this guy!
2. Crazy Horse - died too young, supposedly no one knows what he looked like, because he never allowed his photograph to be taken. Incredibly interesting man.
3. Robert E. Lee and Ulyses S. Grant together.. (I know, that's two)
4. Henry David Thoreau - if I could get him to come out of the woods..
5. Nuno Bettencourt - for purely lustful reasons.. I probably woudn't eat much and just sit staring at him! (Drooling of course)
PS.. this is hard, there are so many more I can think of!
1. Jesus - I would hope his goodness would rub off on me. I mean like really sink in. :)
2. William Shakespeare - I would love to meet the man who wrote with such passion. To be able to hear him read aloud some of his writings would be awesome!
3. Anne Frank - I would love to hear all of her story. I would want to hug her.
4. Christopher Columbus - I would love to know in detail about his talking the Queen of Spain into the ships and just what was he thinking and feeling.
5. Elvis Presley - I am so glad Gen said Nuno- cause I was thinking of Elvis, partly for lustful reasons too- he was so hot when he was young and partly to know the real story behind his fame.
My list will change daily as I read other posts and say "Oh yeah!! I would want him/her too!" :)
EDIT: I am already thinking "John Lennon instead of Elvis?" 5 is not enough choices....:)
SnowPrincess 07-18-2003, 11:26 PM Nafadda
Hadley
Jullianne
Polly
and Joannalee to moderate :)
I bet in the end we would all be friends.......................
Its a small world I think it would be so differant to meet in person.........
Mark_Texas 07-18-2003, 11:46 PM 1. Bill Clinton
2. Robert DiNero
3. Dr. Steven Hawkins
4. George Lopez
5. Puff Daddy
youngguy914 07-18-2003, 11:46 PM I would love to have dinner with Mother Theresa or Gandhi
Moonshadow 07-18-2003, 11:49 PM 1. Emiril Lagasse
2. Paul Prudhomme
3. Julia Child
4. Graham Kerr
5. Jacques Pepin
Hey, you said dinner right? :)
rollypolly 07-18-2003, 11:58 PM I am going to extend to 10. My next 5 are:
6. Will Rogers - He defined the humorist genre. He could grab anything out of the newspaper and make it seem funny.
"You have to go out on a limb..because that is where all of the fruit is."
7. Ludwig von Beethoven - How he continued to draft beautiful masterpieces after losing the sense that drew him to the music in the first place is remarkable.
8. Jackie Robinson - His courage to break baseball's color barrier amid the insults and drudgery was gargantuan.
9. Johnathan Swift - Gulliver's Travels. How did he know the exact location of the moons of Mars 100 years before they were discovered?
10. Adam Smith - The father of Capitalism.
Jannie 07-19-2003, 12:37 AM But the first that pop in my mind are:
1) Jesus Christ....just because I love him.
2) And I think I would let Jesus invite the others, it would be interesting to see who he invited, and I would just sit back and observe or serve the food.
SNOWP: Yeah, what you said is so interesting. I have often thought that those on here that seemed to butt heads on everything might just get along in real life. The written word cannot show body language and expressions of love or humor on one's face.... We are not all that much different from one another.
SnowPrincess 07-19-2003, 12:44 AM And to you dear sweet Jannie, I am thinking we should have dinner and a show
Dinner would be Prime rib, a sweet Tequillaberries salad, *email me at SnowyDlitezzzz@aol.com for the recipe! mashed potatoes and gravy, cheesecake with fresh strawberries and Young guy for the show (again) he he he
Than again I would love to be at Moonshadows dinner, she is gonna have the bestest!!!!

Moonshadow 07-19-2003, 01:14 AM You read my mind. The "Naked Chef" was originally my 5th choice but I decided to go with Jacques instead. For the life of me, I can't remember why.
Well, now that we get 10 choices, I will add him and 4 of his nude friends. :)
I am gonna be stuffed. :D
gadfly 07-19-2003, 05:40 AM 1) Dave Sims
2) Norman Mailer
3) H.P. Lovecraft
4) Lao Tzu
5) Fyodor Dostoevsky ( or Charles Bukowski whoever got there first)
Jannie 07-19-2003, 06:19 AM UUMMMMMMMMMMMM SNOWP! SOUNDS DEEEELicious!

Emma Goldman
Mîdñî†ê®åýñê 07-19-2003, 12:01 PM dinner (http://www.agelesslove.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3030&highlight=famous+people)
kingofsicily29 07-19-2003, 11:11 PM snowp is still here. she is just waiting for the administrator or Joannalee to send an e-mail so she can confirm she changed her e-mail.
when you change your e-mail, you have to confirm it.
Jo-Admin 07-20-2003, 12:09 AM Shoot, Im sorry SnowP and King. I don't do the confirmation emails. I don't know if Rob sends them or if they are an automated process. This happened to a friend of mine recently, and I think he was back on here the next day. I guess its just a wait-and-see kind of thing.
If you have not received one by tomorrow Snow, please let me know. *hugs*
Im glad to see you posting King! You've been away a while... Hope you stop by again soon!
Softsong 07-20-2003, 12:50 AM I'd say, let's have a party and invite them all! Everyone's lists are so fantastic!
Hmmmm.....
Well, I've always been either fascinated by or admired:
1. Alexander the Great - from a psychological standpoint he is an interesting person. The way he was raised (to be a soldier by his Dad and to be a God by his Mom), and all the contradictions of his personality.
2. Thoreau. The transcendatal movement is also very interesting to me.
3. William Penn. Founder of Pennsylvania. I admired how he dared to be different by embracing Quaker beliefs. The Quakers, as far as I know are one religious group who have never persecuted another religious group.
4. Woodrow Wilson.
5. Eleanor of Aquitaine. Strong, progressive woman. Wife of the French King, and then wife of the English King. Her inheritance made either France or England much bigger, and richer. Also, involved in an age-gap relationship! LOL
Figaro 07-20-2003, 03:22 AM 1. Gandhi
2. Marcus Tullius Cicero
3. Albert Einstein
4. John Merrick - The elephant man
5. John Lennon

gadfly 07-21-2003, 03:38 PM I would want to talk to Emma Goldman just find out if she ever blew anything up.
Genevieve 07-30-2003, 03:32 PM She was made fun of through childhood for being what she herself calls, an "ugly duckling". She had to wear a back brace, her parents were disappointed with her because they had wanted a boy. Feeling unwanted, she became shy and withdrawn. She developed many fears.
Despite all the disappointments, bitterness and misery she experienced she refused to give up. Instead she turned her unhappiness and pain into strength.
As a woman, she worked in soup kitchens, traveled the country, learning about the sufferings and social injustices to others. She became a president's eyes, ears, and conscience.
When she went to visit military barracks and hospitals, she stopped at each bed, and to each soldier she said something special, and left even the most battle-hardened, with tears in their eyes.
She helped draft the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights.
Later in her life, she fell in love with a man 20 years her junior.
I think it would be pretty cool to have dinner with Eleanor Roosevelt.
