I've lived in California for a long time, but I grew up in Las Vegas (missed being born there by 6 weeks). My childhood home was on the east side near Desert Inn and Boulder Highway, and I'm a graduate of Chaparral High School. Cheers and welcome! Dave xited1 07-31-2003, 01:29 AM Well, you're as good as a native. I've been here since 65! I graduated from Valley High. Glad to have another Vegan to relate to. LADave 07-31-2003, 02:49 PM Wow! Vegas was still a pretty small place back in '65. My folks came in summer 1969, with yours truly riding in a bassinet. Dad had just gotten a job teaching sociology at UNLV. My mother still uses her 1969 license plates on her car to say "native.":) xited1 07-31-2003, 07:20 PM Yes, I've watched this town grow. Back then we lived off of Sahara and Maryland Parkway, behind the shopping center on the northeast corner, the other side of Sahara was all desert. So how long have you been in CA? Do you visit here at all? LADave 07-31-2003, 08:36 PM I graduated from Chaparral in 1987 and then went all the way to Minnesota for college. After I finished college in 1991, I got hired for my first job (selling rare books) by a shop here in Los Angeles. Except for 2 years back in MN for law school, I've lived in LA ever since. Vegas sort of reminds me of LA except there's no ocean. I also can do without the summer heat! But, I get back to visit 2-3 times a year. My folks now live around Flamingo and Rainbow. xited1 08-03-2003, 01:55 PM Wish there were more from Vegas on this site. Glad to hear there are some former residents out there! I don't know how you can get used to living anywhere else after you live here for so long....but California isn't too bad, I'm just so used to being able to go shopping at midnight or 2 AM if I wanted to. Wish there was an ocean here tho LADave. Say 10events, is college in Seattle? |
