singalou 08-02-2003, 02:49 AM hmmmm cant sleep so im lookin around these boards, lol....sometimes my computer goes here by itself..like going somewhere in your car and you end up at your kids school...thinking THIS is not where I WAS going....must be my old age=). ANYHOW...watched Chitty Chitty Bang Bang today with my daycare children and thinking WOW i forgot about that one. That is one of my favorite movies i remember seeing as a child. As an adult, I have many, many favorites...EXCEPT horror films...i hate them, dream about them for days...saw PSYCHO once in HS...still look in the showers every now and then OR that Halloween dude that never seems to die off, LOL What are your favorites...as a child...as an adult. I loved Saving Private Ryan...Braveheart....but still think my ALL-TIME favorite as an adult would be On Golden Pond with Hepburn and Fonda.
DHShogun 08-02-2003, 03:42 AM A Better Tomorrow, Ghost Dog: Way of the Samurai, The Seven Samurai, Roshomon, The Thin Red Line, Shawshank Redemption, Full Metal Jacket, Diehard, too damn many.
irparis 08-02-2003, 04:03 AM Sing, I love Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...its one of my many all time fav. I also love Charlie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory...I also enjoy the Cary Grant, Jimmie Stewart and Gene Kelly movies. I especially love Guess who's coming to dinner for which I got for my birthday last year on DVD, even though I don't own a player...lol...I love Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracey together.
I just went to see Pirates of the Caribbean this week, so that's another DVD to buy soon.

singalou 08-02-2003, 12:17 PM naf----lol...i love those old 80's movies too:D
Polly 08-02-2003, 12:50 PM Sing, as SOON as Finding Nemo comes out on video (or DVD) you MUST rent it for your daycare kids. What a great movie! I can't say enough good things about it. You'll love it just as much as the kids will.
I'm mostly into chick flicks and comedy. I loved Bridget Jones' Diary, Miss Congeniality, O Brother, Where Art Thou, Steel Magnolias, Fried Green Tomatoes, The Color Purple, Cider House Rules, ANY Monte Python movies, Clerks, Mall Rats, Dogma, Powder, I could go on and on! Robin likes horror/action flicks, the gorier the better! I'm not into those too much, but I'll watch them. I hide my face in his arm sometimes but I can tolerate them for the most part.
xited1 08-02-2003, 01:16 PM My all time favorite is To Kill a Mockingbird, it sends such a strong message. Silence of the Lambs, The Abyss, Sixth Sense, Unfaithful...what an erotic movie. I could go on an on and on....
singalou 08-02-2003, 02:37 PM Polly....most of them have told me about Nemo...my 17 yr old even loved it=)....i definitely WILL rent it when it comes out...heck i should have part ownership in BLOCKBUSTER video by now anyhow, lol. I, too, need to get a DVD....my son has one in his bedroom that he won in a contest...but he guards it with his life and wont let his mom use it=) hehe. Heck, i had an 8-track tape player long past the time they stopped makin em...so ill go on using my VCR until they dont make videos anymore either;). ooooo and i almost rented unfaithful last week....heard it was good....but ended up with some WIGGLES kid video for daycare...go figure that one=)
jordan 08-02-2003, 02:49 PM My all time favorite is Die Hard...I mostly like action movies I guess...though over the past several years I've taken a liking to some Westerns, which I never liked to watch as a kid. The main problem I have with westerns though, they are not realistic...everybody has perfect teeth! But anyways, I also like James Bond movies, the cheesier the better, and 'parody' comedies, like Airplane, Naked Gun, Hot Shots....

That is one of my all-time favorite movies as well! Ordinarily I am the model of masculine stoicism when watching emotional movies, but I always find my eyes fogging over when watching Tracy's speech at the end of the movie. It is such a statement about the importance and power of love!
All of us on the boards should watch that film at least once. It is so applicable to our situation. Though the movie is about an interracial as opposed to an agegap romance, the themes and arguments advanced in the movie carry right over to us. Or to any genuine love as well.
My best to everyone, and go watch the movie!:)

Polly 08-02-2003, 02:59 PM Sing, don't The Wiggles seem so totally gay??? Is it just me? I see that show on the Disney Channel in the morning when my kids have it on. I mean, the main guy (the one with the dark hair and nice eyes) he's pretty cute, but he still looks really gay! Especially when they're doing that dance they do, when they raise their hands and legs up, you know the one I mean? :D
LA Dave, I'll have to rent "...Coming to Dinner". I saw it a looooong time ago, but don't really remember it now.
singalou 08-02-2003, 03:52 PM OH YEAH! My sister also has a childcare home in IL and we call each other every morning....DO YOU BELIEVE THEM:D...BUT....we figure those guys all got drunk after some AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL GAME then decided to sing a bunch of kids songs....guess not TOO BAD...they landed a couple million out of that DISNEY contract, hehe.
