Hello. I am new to this forum. I am a young man, mid twenties who is involved with an older woman, mif forties. We JUST started our relationship.

What are some funny stories that happened when you first decided to get together? (Mine was my mom who freaked that I was with someone only two years younger than her!)

Let's see...

1) She was in the NAVY for 20 years, I would HATE to be in the military.

2) I'm the calm, often reserved type - she's a lot more boisterous and outgoing.

3) She's a widow (whose husband was a good man), I'm divorced (from a cheating wife)

4) She's a trained marksman, my shooting skills are very rusty

We're very similar in most other ways, to be honest.

We're similar in most ways, including politics, religious/spiritual leanings, hobbies, etc. We've both had a lot of very unusual life experiences and read voraciously, so we never run out of things to talk about.


"What made you fall in love?"

We had a sexual attraction at first (I was into BDSM, she was a spanking fetishist), but the emotional part followed soon after. The similar tastes and beliefs helped a lot, as did the fact that we both trust each other fully.

She was wanting something to hang from the rearview mirror of her pickup truck. I bought her a pair of fuzzy handcuffs, and she packed them in her luggage when she went back home (we flew back and forth between Florida and Texas before she moved to Dallas). She accidentally put them in her carry-on luggage, though, and got pulled aside when she went through security (this was years before 9/11). The guard held them up over his head with his thumb and forefinger, and said "Ma'am, are you a law officer?" She said "Ummmm...no." He said "We'll have to check these, then..." and proceeded to walk across the terminal towards the check-in desk, holding them high above his head (where everyone could see them), with her following right behind. It was a tad embarrassing for her, to say the least *g*.

You are right... we have had this question before as well as other questions that get brought up more than once. But you know what? This site is getting new people day in and day out. So I think if a question gets posted again... we need to let it slide and give the new people a chance to answer so we can get to know them. Plus we can copy and paste our own stories to let them get to know us. I don't want newbies to be discouraged from posting.
If it is a post about a problem and we have discussed it, we can always refer to the past link for more information.

How are you and your mate different (besides the age! )?

My sweetie is very outgoing, and I am sort of reserved. I've been married, he's never really had a long-term relationship. I'm finished university, he's still in school (obviously due to the age gap). I tend to be pessimistic, he's an optimist. I worry about everything, he's totally laid-back.

How are you similar?

We both find a lot of the same stuff funny and entertaining, we love talking, we love trying new restaurants and activities. We both want to have kids someday (I'm only 30) and travel a lot. We both want to enjoy life... he's just better at it than I am right now!

What made you fall in love?

His energy, spirit, and intelligence. He lights up a room and is a wonderful, sweet person. I care about him so much.

What are some funny stories that happened when you first decided to get together?

This isn't exactly ha-ha funny, but: My male friends (my age) were not thrilled about the situation. My bf and I were introduced by this guy (who was 35 trying to pursue a 20 y/o woman who was wayyy out of his league). Once he realized that my bf and I were attracted to each other, told me I should be ashamed since I am an adult and my sweetie isn't (he was 20)... I had to point out that there was more of an age-gap with the woman he was in love with and him. He had to admit he had a bit of a prejudice. Anyway, he ditched both my bf and I... totally no longer speaks to us! We are hurt, but decided it was worth it!

Okay, let's see...how are Robin and I different? He's an anal-retentive neat freak, I'm a messy pack-rat. He's a real tightwad with money, I'm a compulsive spender. He likes gory horror flicks, I like romantic comedies. He likes video games, I like coming here and typing stuff! :)

How we are similar...we like going to auctions and yard sales to find antiques and other good deals. We like camping. We like laying in bed together and watching certain t.v. shows. We like playing cards together. We like almost all the same foods. We like to play pool together. We enjoy our kids and pets. We like all the same people. We're both conservative Republicans. We like the same music. We both want the same things out of life and our futures. We like eachother!

What made us fall in love? Well, I fell in love with Robin the first night I met him. We met, talked for eight hours, he came back to my place for a nightcap (my kids were gone for the weekend), we started fooling around, and he left me the sweetest note to call him because he really liked me. I loved his appearance, his eyes especially, his smile, his honesty, his dedication to his little boy, his trustworthiness, his smart brain, his personality, the ESSENCE of him. I think it took him a little longer to fall in love with me, but for him, he says it was my appearance, my enthusiasm, my honesty, my dedication to my kids, my being able to have a good time but be responsible too, my "sexy ways", and to be totally honest, I'm sure the great sex between us was a help too! :D

What funny thing happened to us when we first started dating? Well, I look back and think this is pretty funny...I had been cheated on in the past, and I didn't totally trust Robin in the beginning of our relationship. It was wrong of me because he was such a trustworthy person, but old habits die hard. Well, one night, I was going out, and I called him to meet me. He said, "Oh, I'm pretty tired. I'm just going to stay home and go to bed early. You have a good time. I'll call you tomorrow." I thought it was odd that he didn't want to go out with me, so after a couple of drinks and talking to people, I decided to drive by his place and see what he was up to. I parked the car in the trees, walked up to his bedroom door and found it unlocked, so I walked in. I thought for sure I'd "catch" him with someone. Instead, I found him sorting hundreds of PENNIES by YEAR!!! He was like, "Hey! What's up? What brings you here?" and I felt so stupid! I was like, "Oh, I just got bored and thought I'd just stop by to say 'hi'!" I was like, "Why are you doing that?" He said, "Well, some of these are really old. I thought I'd put them together by year and be done with it." Okay, whatever! :D

Sounds like me. I'm the neat one (and I'm a guy!), she's the... how should I put this... not so neat one.

hmmmm,besides the fact that he's a male and I'm a female????JK.....he likes sci fi books,I like like mystery....he likes comedy movies,I am more into drama...just little stuff like that.

we both LOVE animals....they are a BIG part of our life.We both love living in the woods,we both love going to plays,we love going to concerts,we love to go to flea markets and yard sales,we have sooo many things in common,the list could just keep going on.

What are some funny stories that happened when you first decided to get together?

when I first took him out shooting and he said he was a little uneasy with hand guns..I thought he was kidding...and I tried to act like I wasn't that good a shot,,,I am.he's fine now with guns and likes to go to the range.

when I had him meet all my "kids' to make sure he really liked them...he was in a big play area with about 20 dogs all over him wanting attention,he was so at ease with them....I could tell he was real by watching how he interacted with the animals.he knew I loved animals,but I had to see how he could get along with them to make sure he meant that he REALLY liked animals...he did.

Mark is calmer and much more logical. He likes obscure European bands and I have very eclectic tastes in music. I love a movie that makes me cry or think, he prefers comedies. He reads fantasy and Irish books. I love mysteries and psychology-type books. He's more creative and I'm more practical.

How are you similar?

Mark and I love discussing politics and current events. We love trivia. We play video games together. We're both loners and we both need a lot of quiet time. We share a love of books. We have similar values and similar spiritual beliefs. We both love to go to Las Vegas.

What made you fall in love?

I haven't a clue! I'd guess that I loved his self-assurance and self-control, the way he treats me with respect, his high moral standards and his pouty lips. He says that he loves that I know what I want, I say what I mean, my kindness and that I look "cute" a lot (How the heck does a 45 yr old look cute???)


What are some funny stories that happened when you first decided to get together?

My 15 year old son hadn't been very accepting of my new relationship. One day, we were talking about it and he seemed a bit more accepting. I asked him why. He said, "Well Mark must really love you because he sure can't be after your money or your body!"
