Going Crazy!!

Okay, so I am a small petite gal (4'11.5") and weigh about 130 - 140...I haven't checked lately, I'm scared to look. So being short, you can only grow one way...and that's out.

After Labor Day I started to watch what I eat and exercise. Now, I can blame PMS for this, but the past two days have been terrible. I've been running 1 mile every day (hey, that's good for someone who doesn't exercise), and have been eating much much less.

I hate having to eat like a bird. I love my bread, cheese and wine. I read the thread about Atkins Diet, I have the book that I have yet to touch, but would like to try. I've been on the verge of tears the past few days. I'm not happy with the way I look...especially after hearing "teacher, are you pregnant?"....that's when I decided to exercise more and eat less. You would think hearing that would be motivation enough to get your *** in gear and lose the pounds, but it's not. I want to eat what I want to eat!!! But I know Italian food (my boyfriend owns a restaurant) isn't the best...but it's just so damn good.

Anyone have any ideas or words of wisdom?

Thinking about doing Atkins,
EM

How's your health? I ask this for a reason.

If you have no previous health problems, such as heart problems, kidney or liver problems, diabetes, high/low blood pressure, or pregnant or nursing, try using Twinlab's Diet Fuel or Ripped Fuel or MuscleTech's Hydroxycut.

This will increase your metabolism and increase your energy. If you are following a good diet and exercising well, you should be able to lose 7-10 pounds in about 2 weeks. If, however, you suffer with any of the mentioned health problems or you are not able to use ephedra, try the ephedra free items of any of the two products.

Good luck!!!

I have no problems with the things you stated, but I have a problem using pills such as Twinlab's Diet Fuel or Ripped Fuel or MuscleTech's Hydroxycut. I get exreamly grouchy and moody and I don't feel good when I take them. I'll just have to find something else.

Well I own a candy store. And I have a good sugar free section and I bring this up because in that section I get some good customers and good input on diets.

The one diet that I always hear good things about is Atkins.
I have ladies and men who come in and say "Ive lost 30lbs. in a month" etc. etc. Always happy, always loving it. More energy they say, eat what they want (not much bread at the start though, well no bread at the start).

Now I tried Atkins and instead I do a modified version because I have hypoglycemia and I get shaky with that few carbs.

So I eat whole grain breads and I cut out a lot of the bread on some things. I dont eat white pasta, but whole wheat pasta.

If I go out to dinner I skip the bread basket (ugh!). I eat a protein like example: Filet mignon with sauteed veggies.

I dont eat the baked potatoe. I eat the meat and the veggies. You could get chicken or shrimp or lobster as well.

Then on top of ALL that (lol) i drink herbal iced tea instead of soda (with no sugar or you could use splenda). Or water.
I drink soda like twice a week now. I dont drink diet soda because believe it or not it INCREASES my appetite wildly.

If I do eat sweets I try real hard to eat it in the form of a balance bar because at least it has vitamins. But cant overdo those. They are like a candy bar calorie and fat wise but better for you with the added vitamins. They make some incredible sugar free chocolates now if you go to a gourmet type store. Look for the sweetener malitol (think thats it) and just eat sparingly as it will cause stomach aches if you over do it. but you can have a turtle and be fine. :) If you get s/f candies look at the total carbs then deduct fiber grams and sugar alcohol and thats your net carbs. So say 25 total carbs per serving. But has 1 gram fiber and 22 sugar alcohol. You have a net 2 grams carbs.

What else. La Tortilla factory whole wheat tortillas. Ill go get a carne asada burrito (just the meat and the cilantro) and take it out of the fattening tortilla and stick it in one of those (they have 3 grams total carbs).

I dont get mayo on anything, or sauces. I dont use salad dressing and if I do like 1 tablespoon. Use cottage c heese instead if you can.

I work out now (just started recently) 3 to 4x a week on the elliptic trainer at my gym and the rower, plus a bit of resistance training. Only 20 minutes each time, working my way up to 30 minutes.

With all this work I do, I have about 10 to 15 more left, started and lost about 30lbs!. I didnt realise how heavy i was getting becuase I carry it super well. It just goes all over me rather than in one place but eventually, well it has to show lol.

Now my body shape is getting back to normal and im looking good again in no time. But these last 15 are stubborn .

Sweets are the number one culprit for me and cutting those drastically is really what did the most good.

Good luck!

Heather

I have 2 possibilities that will work for you:

1) If you're not able to use any of those products, try the ephedra free versions of one of them.

2) Go for L-Carnitine. This is a great amino acid that promotes fat loss by converting bodyfat into energy. For your money's worth, buy the Weider brand. It comes in jars of 500 tabs and since you only need to take one 200 mcg. tab a day, that will last you an extremely long time. I've used this in the past and have had NO side effects. In addition, the ephedra free versions of the above products also contain L-Carnitine. But read the label. If there is less than 200 mcg. in them, it's better to just get the pure L-Carnitine since less doesn't help.

The Atkins Diet is absolutley awsome! A couple years ago I was on the Pill for birth control and i gained like 20 pounds! (Some people really gain weight on hormones) Anyways, I really wanted to loose the weight. I'm 5'6" 110 usually, but when I was on the pill I went up to 130... so without getting off the pill, I went on the Atkins. It totally worked. In a nut-shell its just trying to eat as little sugar and carbs as possible. So I had a ball eating my eggs, bacon, sausage, all kinds of meats, seafood, cheese and also sugar free stuff(but you gotta watch the carbs too) and then I would go jogging for like 45 minutes 4 times a week. In about a month and a half it was off. Its great, just try it! Make sure you are taking your vitamins and stuff- I take Coral Calcium, that has everything in it. It is amazing how you get so full faster than before when I was eating breads and pastas.
Just a note: You still can treat yourself , but its best if you wait till your at a weight you are happy with :-)
Anyways, hope I helped.

"FEED THE MUSCLES AND NOT THE FAT!!!"....Exactly what I've been telling people for years.

EMCAD:

LadyInGreen is right. Get a blood work done and have the doctors check for any thyroid problems. If they're okay, ask them to prescribe a small amount of Synthroid to you (maybe a 10 day supply). That will give your thyroids a jump start. But take no more than that or your thyroid will depend on them forever and that's not good.
