I don't know why it is so hard for grown kids to understand parents wanting a life too. Of course it is hard for me to relate because my parents never divorced but you know what? They lived life for themselves once my Dad retired and made no bones about it.

My oldest daughter was upset too when I dated younger. But she was 16 at the time. I guess I find it hard to understand when the young person hasn't even really met the boyfriend. :(
How much time did you all get to spend with each other?

well I taped it I will send it to anyone for the cost of a tape and postage

I don't know Peachy, can you enlighten us about your daughter. I mean my daughter freaked when I told her I "cared" about a man I met online. I really don't know how she is going to feel about him when she finds out he is coming here and is 19 yrs younger than me. But yes. I mean they have an image of you as a "mother" you aren't supposed to be a person.

For me it was my dad... I absolutely loved his first girlfriend after my mother died. And she was almost 20 yrs younger than him. I however HATED my stepmother when he dated her, also younger. Its not about age, its about character for me.

I had to ask my mother to tape it for me, since I don't have cable. Even though I provided a blank tape, I am going to PAY for this down the road.............. *cringe*

As this is the first time I have ever asked her to tape anything for me, of COURSE she will have watched it, to see what the big deal is. When I go over there to pick it up, the first question out of her mouth is going to be, "Is there something you're not telling us?"

Hey, I didn't see the whole show, but I did see the part with Peachy and Joe. Good job, Peachy! You did very well explaining where you were in life. I noticed a lot of women in the audience nodding their heads affirmatively, as well as Oprah herself giving positive comments. Peachy, you looked absolutely gorgeous! Joe looked great too. It must have been a little nerve-wracking to go on there and deal with your daughter's comments, but I think people were leaning on your side. I think you did a good thing! :)

Thanks for all the comps from everyone . . . of course, I'm supercritical of myself, but I seemed to be scowling most of the time . . . I'll have to watch that :)

All in all tho, the show was very positive on the older women-younger men relationships and that's what we all wanted to see.

Other than my daughter's distress, which I knew about ahead of time, the trip was fun and we had a great time. She and I had lunch on Monday (they had stayed in Chicago until Saturday) and all is well with us. If nothing else, she and Joe have now met and maybe things with her will be a lot smoother.

I was not pleased that they cut the things Joe had to say on the Oprah show, but they did include his remarks on the After the Show.

He is one HOT number, huh, ladies???? Don't get any ideas . . . he's mine and I'm not sharing!!!!!

We do appreciate all your positive and complimentary comments and all the support you great people provide on this site. :)

I actually was off work today, and able to watch. You looked great guys, I was proud to have you represent us. Personally I was irritated that they kept saying stuff like, Demi was leading the way.... we've lived together for 2 1/2 years now, and lots of us for longer, Demi is just copying us.
Peachy, I can understand your daughter, in lots of ways. The mom she knew is gone, and she has to go through a normal grieving for that loss. And it did have to be uncomfortable for her to do the meeting liket that. She'll be fine, you did a good job raising her. She sure looks like you, by the way. I think you did such a good job taking care of her, that she just assumed that was going to continue with her kids, and she's just going to take some time to realize its not.
I was tickled that Oprah was as supportive as she was. When the Ricki Lake show was trying to recruit us, that was the main concern I had, that I know how nasty Ricki can be, and wasn't interested if that's the take that was going to be taken. And it was, it went in a totally cougar direction.
Anyway, I agree with everyone else, you two are hot!

and I can say peachy I was really impressed by you.......you really carried yourself good and your confidence really showed......Joe well he didn't say anything, but he really looked relax, not sure if he's shy? As for your daughter I can't be mad at her.......she is your daughter, and I think she is really concerned for you, and that probably is her fear. Why should we be mad at her for being honest with her feelings too, she just met Joe and that is hard to get use to,it looked like she was holding back her tears.......now mom try to understand and be sensitive to her, and in time she may understand you. She still is your daughter. Haven't watched oxygen but planning on it.:)

You guys are really a great couple - although we all know how much fun you both are here, watching you together really brings out the nice relationship you share. I'm happy that Oprah was inclined to address the issues that big-age gap relationships incur, (i.e., children) because the way in which you two represented us, proved that a good relationship can survive and thrive regardless of age differences. It's about time that people face the reality - older women, younger men.....it's no longer a taboo! YES!!!

Both of you look great! :)

Joe you looked really great, Libby you look great, infact you are a great looking couple, you don't look like you have an age gap and you certainly don't look like mother/son at all.
I do beleive you inspired many people today with your great story.

Yellowrose, everything was laid for, . . . oops, I mean paid for.
We stayed on the topest floor of the Omni Hotel in downtown, the 25th floor to be exact. It was a suite, kinda like a little apartment. Free roomservice, booze, limo rides everywhere we went and other little petty things.

I think someone did warn Oprah about me because one thing she asked me was, "Joe how old are you?" and I simply replied, "That depens Oprah, how old do you want me to be?" She just stared in awe!
Then she asked, "Since when have you had an attraction to older women?" and I replied, "Ever since I was 4 yrs old. I used to chase after them, trying to kiss them and touch them in NO NO places (i was squeezing my hands together as if I was squeezing titties)!" Oprah just sat there staring and moaning, "U-huh, mmmm. . . u-huh. . . !" The crowd laughed, but I guess they edited that part out. :)
Dang, whatdya' expect.

You both did such a great job! My husband and I felt upset about what your daughter was saying. I have gone through some of that myself with a couple of my sons - they thought that I should continue living my life for everyone else but me! I'm glad that you stood up for yourself the way you did Peachy - I was wishing that I could have been there to hug you and tell you how proud I was of you! You were incredible!

You seem like a great couple, and I am glad that you represented us all like you did. At first, after my husband and I were interviewed to be on the show and didn't get chosen, I was really sad. After seeing the show, I was glad that you were chosen - you both did a super job! I loved it.

YAY!! I got to see the after the show on oxygen last night in the hotel loby where I worked.Thank goodness we got all those new chanels added. I was impressed at how sexxy all of the older wemon looked and handeled themselves, especially peachy. It's no wonder,(classy ladies) Thier ym's Adore them.
Peachy, the preasure you must have felt being put in the spot light like that, and you kept your cool so well.
as far as your girl goes,......I couldnt help but feel a lil sorry for her.Im sure she misses you,(Me and my daughter are close, as well as my mother and I) but you are doing the rite thing standing your ground. That is admirable.
My opinion, as Long as you take time out to spend with her and only her,( Just the girls),say *a movie night.* on ocation, then she may warm up to the whole idea of mom's new found life. Be patient with her. Geuss I can relate a lil, as I saw my mother go through so many changes growing up. First she was the tipical June cleaver type, church, dinner, rutine. then came, the divorce, younger men, Parties. I didn't think moms were sposed to act like that. Til I found out how exasting being the "june cleaver Mom" can be........."smirks"
It can be a lil strange for a teen girl.....but now here I am 15 years later and I see that she was a woman too, who was also human and she chose to be her "OWN" woman.I think there was a lesson learned in that.I just didnt see til later.I suposse there comes a time in Life when we decide it's time to Enjoy Life and learn to live a little.
I always thought she was being selfish for her childish behavior, and I at the time felt more responsible then she.She used to call me her little mother. But NOW Being a mother myself, and going through a divorce.I find myself going through some of the very same things she did. looking back on that and being a woman myself,I know *NOW*I was the childish , Selfish one.

P.S. Peachy, I didnt get to see your tattoo:(
But I got my first one a year ago, and a belly button piercing too  that was my rebellion. (ex hubby didnt think it was so cute though..........:D:rolleyes:

My daughter has been my best friend and my worst critic, but through it all she has stood by me. Through three divorces. And adopting another child which she wasn't in favor of at the time. But now she loves her little brother almost as much as I do and if something were to happen to me she would raise him.

I fear her in some ways because she speaks the voice of reason and I am more of a free spirit. Usually she is right but I can't be her. I am an experimenter. I remember very early in my life I was dertermined not just to live but to EXPERIENCE life. And as full of hard times my life has been, I have to say, its been quite a ride.

My kids laughed when that song came out, she gets knocked down but she gets up again. That is my life.
