Women and Doctors (I hope this doesn't sound sexist)

Why is it that so many WOMEN hate doctors? Is it a kill the messenger sort of thing?

(Men are just too lazy to go to the doctor. They don't actually hate doctors)

Hm, DO women hate doctors in the first place? I know I don't, and tbh, if I am not happy with one - fex I am not confident in his/her competence or if I dislike the style or are uncomfy with them - I look for one that I do get on with.

So, cannot answer the question, but doubt the underlying assumption ;)

Gee I don't know where you got that opinion, I always heard women got a crush on their obstetrician.

I have had great doctors, mostly women because I like women doctors, but some men too. Just went and saw a dermatologist for a sore on my arm I thought might be skin cancer. He was nice, friendly, helpful, (cute). Just saw a general practitioner for my blood work (cholesteral, which turned out to be really great by the way) He was nice, friendly, helpful, (cute).
Going to see a OB/GYN next week, that one is going to be a woman.

But no, I don't think women hate doctors.

I think women love doctors. In medicine we even say that women don't get sick, they just get worse...because they are always sick anyway...
But we say this because women go much more often to the doctor.

I remember having seen many women in Brazil who would ask for a male doctor when coming to the private hospital where I worked some evenings, because they didn't like female doctors (I worked as a pediatrician there). The girl at the reception had a special pleasure to announce that all three doctors that evening were female doctors.

And so had I. :p

Doctors are ok...if they know how to treat a woman.

Many doctors used to think that "women's complaints" were in the woman's head and they were just a bunch of whiners.

As that group retires and a new more "femme friendly" group comes in you'll find less hate of doctors and more warmed up duck lips.

Yes Polite you have a definite point. I had three horrible experiences with doctors in the 70's. Once I had an ovarian cyst that burst and I was hemoraging. I didn't know this at the time but when he did the pelvic exam and probed the area I jumped on the table... he said angrily that how could he examine me if I was going to squirm. I wish I could probe him. :D
Another doctor examined me when I had a bladder infection. He molested me on the examining table. I mean he was fondeling my clit.... Damn that makes me mad.
Another was when I had a miscarriage. Heartless. Didn't seem to realize I just lost a child. To him it was a hunk of flesh with no soul. To me, I will see that child in heaven.
So that is why I prefer woman doctors.

LOL I guess I just found some regressed memories, perhaps this answers the original question better.
