You knew I was a snake.

One cold frigid day, a man decided to take a walk through the forest and contemplate thoughts of life and living. The man was familiar with the area and knew how to navigate his path; he'd done it several times before in all seasons.

This particular day, he walked upon a snake. It appeared to be lifeless and almost dead. The man immediately felt sorrow for it and decided to take a closer look. Perhaps it wasn't completely frozen. The man decided to pick the frozen snake up and put it inside his coat. He put it very close to him, right near his heart, in his bosom. The man resumed his walk and decided to head home where it was warmer. As the snake grew warmer and cozier, it vbegan to regain its strength until it was ready to uncurl and resume its normal life.

As it did, it raised its head from the man's bosom position and struck a deadly blow to the man's throat. As the man collapsed and began to die, the man esxclaimed, How could you do this to me, after all I've done to save your very life, how could you do this!

The snake cooly stated: You knew I was a snake when you picked me up!

What do you take as the lesson from this story?
And what is the song that was made after it? (oldie but goodie)

There's another story like that too, even tho I haven't heard that variation.

A scorpion was standing on a river's bank when a fox walked up ready to swim across it. The scorpion yells out to the fox, "Please take me on your back so I can get to the other side." The fox looked at the snake and said, "If I do that, you will sting me and I will drown."
The scorpion replied, "If I do that, both of us will die because I can not swim."
The fox thought it over and agreed to it. The fox kneeled down and let the scorpion onto his back.
The fox started swimming across and was about halfway there when the scorpion stung him.
"Why did you sting me scorpion, now both of us will die!" exclaimed the fox as the poison was running through his veins.
"I could not help it fox, I am sorry. It is in my nature to sting."

Moral of the story: A scorpion is always a scorpion, no matter what and can not change his habits...his life.

To me, the morale of the story is: Be nice/kind/charitable, by all means, but be smart about it and know the nature of the beast, and take the necessary precautions .. :p
