PoliteSuccubus 10-03-2003, 01:15 PM Among her other fobiles when I took my girl to work day the dog likes to stick her head out the window...no biggie, all dogs do.
It's been raining the last few days and every time we drove through a big puddle a spume of spray would flash up.
My dog tries to CATCH these spumes! Not only that, but she looks ahead and when she sees a puddle she runs to the side window to get ready for it!
Such a weirdo.
She also likes to eat pens and pencils. She had a nice peice of modern art growing on my carpet under the coffee table where she hides them.
If your hand is palm down she'll paw at it until you flip it palm up, then she'll lay her head in your hand.
She plays with spiders like cats play with mice...stabbing it with her nose and flipping it up in the air and waiting for it to try to get away before grabbing it again.
When she thinks we are going out she runs to the front door and bashes herself, butt first, against the wall beside it over and over again. If she thinks we are to slow she'll make these little frog jumps over to where we are and bash her butt against the wall again to remind us.
When out in the yard she makes these Pepe Le Phew leaps and bounds that are so funny through the high grass with her ears and tail all perky.
She's just a year old this month, and she's so cute and uses it unmercifully.

PinkCat 10-03-2003, 02:19 PM AWWWWWWW!!! YOU ARE SO LUCKY! She is absolutely beautiful and adorable and sounds like such a sweet angel!!!!
Genevieve 10-03-2003, 02:45 PM One of my dogs is a boxer/lab mix. He's the biggest baby. If it's cold, rainy, snowy he does not like to go out, no matter how badly he has to use it! As soon as he sees rain, he backs up as if to say.. "are you kidding? I'm not going out in that, I'd rather hold it." He's also afraid of bread for some reason. As soon as someone takes a loaf of bread out of the drawer to make toast or whatever, he runs under the table and cowers. We can't figure it out! My other dog is a Belgian Tervuren, the herding instinct is so strong that she would sometimes try to herd my kids up, and when we lived on a farm, she would try to herd the horses.. a few good kicks in her direction made her back off a bit, but was still funny to see. They are both medium/large sized dogs, but are so affectionate and sweet, they think they can fit on your lap!

Maria 10-03-2003, 04:57 PM Dogs are fascinating creatures. I always had dogs in my parents home, but since I left I never could have them again, either because I was too busy, or now because the owner of this house doesn't want to. The law allows me to have one, if I want, but I just don't want to go against the old man's wish.
So until I move, I'll have to be happy caressing the neighbour's dogs or walking the orphan dogs from the shelter...they recruit volunteers to do it on weekends.
You all have cute dogs! :)

Savannah (the dog, not me!) is a boxer/doberman cross, and she has the same aversion to water. On walks, she'll do a sudden detour to avoid even the shallowest puddles -- which usually means I end up splashing through them! She is the least affectionate dog I have ever known -- she's more like a cat in personality.
Ythan is the complete opposite when it comes to water -- I can't keep him out of it! He'll put his face right into the spray from the hose to try and catch it, and he could empty the 1-gal. self-waterer onto the floor in 5 minutes flat by "digging" the water out of the bowl. But he's afraid of just about everything ELSE, including strangers, other dogs, the back stairs, large bags, the front door....... (Avatar is him at the top of those horrible stairs)
PoliteSuccubus 10-03-2003, 08:22 PM My dog, Princess Curiosity (Curi) is a full blooded American Eskimo (White German Spitz before WW2).
But she isn't good enough to show since she has some pink on her nose and wave in her coat.
She currently weighs about 30 lbs and that's her full weight, but she looks smaller because she's a very compact dog.
Eski's, as they are called, are very affectionate and playful by nature and live fairly long lives (14-17 years). They enjoy people and learning tricks, bark at strangers but don't bite.
The biggest problem with these dogs is they get bored easily and if bored will turn noisy and somewhat distructive. (ie the pens). They used to be used for circus dogs because they actually love learning and performing tricks. For them it's fun!
They are great dogs for families where someone is home most of the day.
kyrianne 10-04-2003, 07:53 PM ~smiles~..great puppy stories...I'd like to add mine. I have a black lab/husky mix. She's the nicest tempermented dog..but she's the biggest wimp on the face of this planet! First, she doesn't bark. I've had her for 12 years and I can count the number of times she's barked on my hands. If someone comes to the door she just looks toward the foyer, at me, at the foyer, at me..like she's saying hey..wanna get that or what? ~laffs~ She's terrified of thunder storms. She's slept with me on more than one occasion. Once she crawled under my bed..and bear in mind this dog never goes upstairs on normal occasions..but..during this storm she was under my bed..woke me up with her panting.. everytime it would thunder she would pant harder..making my bed shake fiercely! My friends teased me that after the storm passed I probably made thunder noises for another hour! ~laffs~ hmmm...a quarter a shot for a vibrating bed..or is it a dollar now...at any rate..maybe I should start a business! ~laughing~
