I'm Goin' to Oz!

Dave and I are leaving early tomorrow morning for New York City and the bright light of the Great White Way. We have front row center tickets to "The Boy From Oz." Woo hoo!!!!!!

It is the story of Peter Allen, the Australian singer/songwriter who gave us the theme from the movie "Arthur", and top hits such as: "I Honestly Love You," "Just a Gigolo," and many many more. He was a beautiful man who died of AIDS in 1992. We are poorer for his absence.

Peter is played by the incredibly talented Hugh Jackman who was last seen heating the screen up as Wolverine in X-Men and X-Men2. He is also to die for in Kate and Leopold. He is also from Oz (Australia) and is a very talented singer. Currently our tickets would sell for $235 apiece due to the buzz word of his perfomance is creating. And we get to sit darn near close enough to talk to him! We are both big fans so it's something we are both highly anticipating (to put it mildly!)

He is lovely about signing autographs and we are hoping that since he will be able to see us at the standing ovation at the end of the show (there has been one every performance) he will spot Dave and give us an edge at getting at least a moment of his time.

Yes, he's devastatingly gorgeous, but I don't really care since I'm married to the handsomest man I've ever met. LOL I really want his autograph for my sister. She bought the tickets for herself and then could not get off work to go. I would have called in dead, but she is having problems with the boss and is a bit worried about her job. She gave Dave and I the tickets as a gift, asking only for a T-shirt in return. I'd love to get an autograph for her to pay her back a little better.

I will let you know how the show went when I get back. I'm expecting the experience of a lifetime. *sigh*

Peace,
Jane who already has a Leading Man...

I hope that you and Dave have a good time. Let us know how it was. It sounds really exciting, especially with front row seats. It will probably be very sad, too. I didn't know anything about Peter Allen. Thanks for telling us about it. I'm going to read up on it.

Hugh Jackman rules! Robin is a big time X-Men fan, and Wolverine is his favorite character.

Hope you two have a great time and a safe return.

I forgot to mention the most important thing....Hugh Jackman is married to an older woman! Deborra-Lee Furness is at least 8 years his senior and maybe more. He never misses a chance to tell the world that she is the love of his life. He kids once in a while about her being older, saying people want to hear kinky stories about how she is his mother. He said she's too busy being a mother to their little boy to bother with him. He just has to change his own diapers! :D

He is even better performer than I'd heard that he would be. He has a strong clear voice and an excellent stage presence. He plays the showman Peter Allan with gusto and a touch of sweet sadness. He had a solo number that brought a very critical audience to their feet cheering. The last number also merited a standing ovation. It was marvelous to see. Most of the audience didn't know who he was when the curtain opened, but they did when it closed.

We went out to see if we could get an autograph for my sister. Hugh came out and was signing. He turned around and spotted Dave. He gave a big grin, pointed at him and said, "Second row center!" Dave nodded that it was indeed him. Hugh reached over people's heads and took the program from Dave to sign. Thee was a very short woman next to Dave, so he took her program and Hugh grabbed it and signed it as well. We moved back to let others up. When we got to the street, Hugh stretched, caught Dave's eye and smiled broadly at him. What a guy! Dave is a fan for life and so am I.

He just couldn't have been nicer. He signed a lot of autographs and stopped to have his photo taken with fans. He gave a few moments extra to a lady who brought him a dozen yellow roses. When he left it wasn't in a limo, but rather a black Ford Explorer. Australian actors don't go in for the star treatment they think its silly. He said once in an interview that if his mates at home find out he's "gone Hollywood" they will be waiting to nail him when he comes back home.

I've been reading a lot about him since we got the tickets and he's the younger man we all dream of. He supports his wife's career (director/actress) he is very protective of her and all women he's around. He made sure the set was closed for Halle Barry's nude scene in "Swordfish" going as far as to evict anyone he didn't think needed to be there.

One thing he does is mention his wife. In every interview she is prominent. He doesn't usually mention that she's older, but he doesn't back down from the question. He just keeps saying that she is the love of his life and that his marriage just keeps getting better. What more could a woman ask?

Peace,
Jane
