Yippee...my home computer has finally been fixed and I can now check the internet from home. Yippee! I have been wanting to join in the chat room when others are actually on so now I might just be able to do so. I'm looking forward to getting to know people a bit better that way.

And I took the plunge and joined Match.com. Wish me luck!

Darn it!!!! I hate computers sometimes. Last night my computer froze and won't unfreeze...I even took it to my computer store and they can't figure it out, so it's back to Hewlett Packard again. BUMMER!!!!

Poor Tiger. I understand perfectly what you are going through.

My Compaq computer which I bought in January 2002 had been giving me trouble for months. Sweet boyfriend worked on it, uninstalling and reinstalling stuff several times. Finally, it died. Luckily, I had bought a warranty from the store. They told me that the hard drive had died and that they could replace it for free, but that the recovery CD which came with the computer was not sufficient to restore everything, that I would have to call HP, who bought Compaq, to order a special set of restore CD's. I tried calling HP for a week at different times of the day and night. Sometimes, I was disconnected while waiting. One time I waited for 40 minutes and another time for an hour. THEY NEVER ANSWERED! Then, it occurred to me (duh) that since I speak Spanish, I could connect to that line. They answered immediately, but told me that my original CD should work. I called the store back, they tried it, but it was insufficient to restore. So, then I called HP back (Spanish line again) and finally got someone who knew what I was talking about and who connected me to the sales line to order my restore package. After a total of 3 weeks, I finally got my computer back last month. I will NEVER buy a Compaq or HP product again. My computer was not cheap in the first place and should not have broken after only 1 1/2 years of moderate use and the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced, even worse than AT&T, with whom I also refuse to do business.

Oh I hate them too! My NEW laptop (Gateway) has this wireless interface built in. It has barely worked since I got it. I always have problems and the bozo's at tech support know less than I do. I have a 24 year old son who is a computer genius (well, he is :) ) and he has come to fix it for me 3 times so far. Tech support told me the last time I talked to them (at least 4 hours total I have spent with them on the phone) that I will have to reformat! Well, they told me that 2 weeks ago and my son came over and said "Let me look at it" I told him what tech support said and he said "And you believe them?" He had a point. He looked at it...did some stuff, IT WORKED! For a week. :( Now tech support tells me the same thing. My son says they are full of it and to just wait on him. I do have the benefit of having a son who does this for a living but you know the old saying "The shoemakers kids had no shoes" ? yep, I may wait a while so in the meantime I plug into my broadband. No biggie. At least I have access.

I am sorry for your trouble onetiger. I hope you get it all sorted quickly!! Computers. Ugh.
