Meyers/briggs Personality Test (interesting)

hi everyone, i wanted to share something that has been a topic of conversation at my house, some of you have probably done this before, but in one of my brother's classes they took this test and it has helped everyone to better understand each other.

http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/JTypes2.asp

i am an "INFP"

The INFP takes his/her energy from the inner world of thoughts and emotions. He/she prefers dealing with patterns and possibilities, especially for people, and prefers to make decisions on the basis of personal values. His/her life is flexible, following new insights and possibilities as they arise. He/she is quiet and adaptable (up to a point - when his/her values are violated the normally adaptable INFP can surprise people with his/her stance). He/she will seem to be very interested in ideas, and he/she may sometimes make very creative contributions. He/she has a hidden warmth for people and a desire to see self and others grow and develop. He/she prefers to undertake work that has a meaningful purpose.

You know, I've taken that test several times, and every time I come up with something slightly different. Maybe it just depends on my mood at the time.

Just call me Sybil.

this is me, (or so they say)...

The Counselor Idealists are abstract thought and speech, cooperative in reaching their goals, and directive and introverted in their interpersonal roles. Counselors focus on human potentials, think in terms of ethical values, and come easily to decisions. The small number of this type (little more than 2 percent) is regrettable, since Counselors have an unusually strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others and genuinely enjoy helping their companions. Although Counsleors tend to be private, sensitive people, and are not generally visible leaders, they nevertheless work quite intensely with those close to them, quietly exerting their influence behind the scenes with their families, friends, and colleagues. This type has great depth of personality; they are themselves complicated, and can understand and deal with complex issues and people.

Counselors can be hard to get to know. They have an unusually rich inner life, but they are reserved and tend not to share their reactions except with those they trust. With their loved ones, certainly, Counselors are not reluctant to express their feelings, their face lighting up with the positive emotions, but darkening like a thunderhead with the negative. Indeed, because of their strong ability to take into themselves the feelings of others, Counselors can be hurt rather easily by those around them, which, perhaps, is one reason why they tend to be private people, mutely withdrawing from human contact. At the same time, friends who have known an Counselor for years may find sides emerging which come as a surprise. Not that they are inconsistent; Counselors value their integrity a great deal, but they have intricately woven, mysterious personalities which sometimes puzzle even them.

Counselors have strong empathic abilities and can become aware of another's emotions or intentions -- good or evil -- even before that person is conscious of them. This "mind-reading" can take the form of feeling the hidden distress or illnesses of others to an extent which is difficult for other types to comprehend. Even Counselors can seldom tell how they came to penetrate others' feelings so keenly. Furthermore, the Counselor is most likely of all the types to demonstrate an ability to understand psychic phenomena and to have visions of human events, past, present, or future. What is known as ESP may well be exceptional intuitive ability-in both its forms, projection and introjection. Such supernormal intuition is found frequently in the Counselor, and can extend to people, things, and often events, taking the form of visions, episodes of foreknowledge, premonitions, auditory and visual images of things to come, as well as uncanny communications with certain individuals at a distance.

I remember taking this test in high school...oh, about 8 years ago. And I feel like a different person now; I feel I have grown and changed. However, I dug out my old scores...I scored INFJ way back then too!

I don't know what is scarier, the fact that I have, essentially, changed so little, or the fact that I knew where the scores were from high school (they were written down mid-way through an old journal, and it took me about a minute to look it up.

Scary.

I'm with emmie and Lara.

INFJ

Supposedly only 2% of the population, but up to now on this thread we represent a tick under 50%!

"...at intervals INFJs will suddenly withdraw into themselves, sometimes shutting out even their intimates. This apparent paradox is a necessary escape valve for them, providing both time to rebuild their depleted resources and a filter to prevent the emotional overload to which they are so susceptible as inherent "givers." As a pattern of behavior, it is perhaps the most confusing aspect of the enigmatic INFJ character to outsiders, and hence the most often misunderstood -- particularly by those who have little experience with this rare type.

With that I will pull my cape around my face and withdraw suddenly and inexplicably into my cave.

It says I am a teacher/idealist - which actually fits me pretty well. I have taught before, and I'm very good at explaining and training so that people really understand.

Also VERY MUCH an idealist - much to my husband's chagrin.

INTJ - Of all the times I've taken this test this does seem to be the one that I come up with most often. Reading the description, I think it fits. :D

I have taken this test several times in the past, and scored several different variations. Once, I even took the test twice on the same day, and scored differently. I think it's because I'm right on the borderline for some of the choices. The first time I took it, I was INTJ. Just took it a minute ago and got INTJ. I've also commonly gotten INTP (the J/P in particular is where I feel right on the borderline), but I've gotten other variants in the past.

I am an ISTJ all the way :)

I read the scientific/psychological analysis of the types and it describes me to a T...

I took this test 4 years ago and I was an ISTJ then.

I knew the link to the Jung test online LONG AGO and I have given it to lots of people to test themselves.

Introverted: 44 (Moderately expressed)

Intuitive: 11 (Slightly expressed)

Feeling: 33 (Moderately expressed)

Perceiving: 78! Holy cow, that's very expressed!

I am the Healer. I am supposedly found in only 1% of the population. Other Healers were supposedly Homer, Virgil, Shakespeare, Mary mother of Jesus, Helen Keller (I knew Baker nicknamed me that for a reason) St. John, St. Luke, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Tom Brokaw......and NEIL DIAMOND! RAWK!

I am abstract in thought and speech, cooperative in striving for my ends, and informative and introverted in my interpersonal relations. To all appearances I might seem reserved and even shy, but on the inside I am anything but reserved, having a capacity for caring not always found in other types. I am likely to have a sense of inner division threaded throughout my life, and I have a certain fascination with the problem of good and evil. My idealism is almost boundless and selfless, though at times my idealism leaves me feeling even more isolated from the rest of humanity. I wonder, often for my whole life, if I am "OK", when I am in fact just different, a swan raised in a family of ducks.

Yes, alas it is me.

I think I'll hand this profile to my parents and demand a plane ticket to a monastery, a new laptop, and proof that I was adopted. IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW.

Yes it does, dat - because the Homer they mention is actually Homer Simpson!

Well, if you want to be that way- did they also mean Shakespeare Simpson, Virgil Simpson, Helen Keller Simpson, etc?

Y'all be Hay-terrrrrrs......

Besides, what were you, like Stonewall Jackson? You disappear when you have emotions? That's cool.

The Virgil they mentioned was Virgil from The Thunderbirds.

(That classic British puppet series was, alas, before your time I fear - however a live action big budget U.S. film version will be out next summer - then you'll go, "oh THAT'S what Spunk was on about.")

The Helen Keller they mentioned was a fairly insignificant Swiss soccer player (I thought you might know that one) - and the Shakespeare WAS in fact Shakespeare Simpson - a shoe-shuffler of some ill-repute from the South.

However, that's not to say you aren't in good company. :)

Now get your photo up and stop making excuses based around computer illiteracy.:)
