I love cycling, but just for leisure, not really a sportswoman. There are some guys around who love cycling, ukfireball is one, it's even going to be his major at Sports Science. He's in Scotland, you might want to contact him!

Do you mean Motorbikes or cycling? as you can see, I like my cycling, and I am training to be a sports coach.

First, thanks for your time, i am 56, i have a mongoose mountain bike, not an expensive bike around$250, any way, it works for me, my female friend and i try to ride every other day, weather permitting, we ride 25 miles, takes us on average 2 hr 10 min. we take plenty of water, and snack bars, some times fruit, what's good to eat the day before a ride, or what to stay away from, what's good to take on rides, snacks, we usually take some type of granola bar, something like that, we are not pros, but we do ride alot, until the cold weather stops us. that it for now, i also have some bike questions, we'll hit that next time. thanks your the first that came back with serious interest to help me.

Pasta is the secret for all cyclists; pasta is essentially sugars that take longer to digest than say eating a candy bar or drinking a coke, and will give you enough energy to cycle for a much longer period, would be ideal to eat the day before you go cycling and your body will draw from it the next day. Proteins are also good, your bike ride would certainly be strenuous for your muscles, chicken, scrambled eggs are great to eat the day before, and will help to avoid muscle fatigue after. Your choice of food for the ride sounds ideal, oat bars and fruits, really help when your energy depletes, and you start feeling hungry, carbohydrate candy bars and drinks can really help, although quite expensive, and not really necessary for 2 hour bike rides; its a very good idea to stay away from fatty foods before and during exercise, as they are of no benefit, and you will lose your energy very fast.
But the main thing is that you have fun and enjoy your bike rides :)

I would love to bike ride..hoping to buy myself a bike for my Christmas present this year. My OM is very much into biking, running and weightlifting/training. He looks great for 57yrs. old..very buff! ;) LOL

I would love to bike w/ him (not the 20 + miles..yet), but maybe work up to it. He has a tandem bike that he keeps trying to get me on with him.. :)

I've never ridden a tandem, I hear it's great fun, and you could always let him do the pedalling after 10 miles :D
