Goodbye

Ciao to everyone I've met here and whose company I have enjoyed this past year. It's been lots of fun and I wish each and every one of you all the very best.

I'm afraid I don't feel comfortable here anymore. I have always tried to speak my mind responsibly and thoughtfully. When I don't feel I can do that any longer, it is time. When there is a lack of respect for free speech, it is time. I worked for many years as a reference librarian and censorship was anathema to me. It still is.

I hope you all have a blessed holiday season. I hope you all find the love you so richly deserve. I hope you are able to get rid of some of those darn chit chat stickys. :D

p.s. To the Webcam Fun thread participants .... it was a blast! Let me know when a definite date has been selected. I just hope I am still of sound mind and body. Ok, sound body. :p

You know lol I am so glad someone brought this up!
To me they are annoying!! I can honestly say It reminds me of my fridge, so many stickys and can't find a darn thing.

I am probably the last one you would think that would say this but......... The board will miss you.....

First I will say goodbye Moon. Your posts have been some of the ones (I will say yours almost always do) that make me laugh out loud when I read them. I will miss your witty replies!


Secondly, I do not understand the sticky thing! I guess if people are complaining about something so small as sticky's it is because the rest of the site is so good there is nothing else to complain about! IMHO :D

I wasn't around last night, but I heard the jist.
Being moderated is a shock. I have definite opinions on this.

I had a post cut in August, I think, not even on my thread, because I was trying to make lite of a situation. It pissed me off. This had never happened anywhere else. I went away, but lurked on occasion until 2 weeks ago.

It's like a relationship, really. I get far more support being here than sitting on my *** alone and not communicating with anyone. So, there are things we don't agree with. Moderation seems to be the wrong term for the job position..perhaps Moderator/Editor.

I don't know how they make their ultimate decisions, but this site is still up and it is a place to commune. In this crazy world, I trust the opinions of most on this site.

Moon, you crack me up. You summarize well. Take a break, be pissed. We all feel this way about something or other.

Then come back. I look forward to seeing your posts again.

I, too, have been "called on the carpet" for some things I said. As a result I had dialog offline with the Moderator debating a case for free expression and non-censorship.... Of course, it was a no-win situation for me, but I relished the opportunity to state my case :)

I think it all gets down to a case of -- if you're visiting in someone else's house, you must follow the houserules... :( like it or not...

Don't go.......I know I don't know you well but I think your such a cool person....I don't know whats going on.....but that happens, it's not everyone elses fault.....stick around!

Wow, Moon! I don't know what to say! I haven't been here as often as I used to be, got my head up my *** for 'nother reason, but I couldn't see you go without saying something:

I always thought you were so cool! I'd look at your avatar, and read all the smart, witty, WISE things you would say, and you reminded me of the "cool" girl in high school...not the most popular, or the cheerleader type, or the brain, but the one who stood out from everyone else in a cool way, not a "ham-at-a-Barmitzvah" way. I always thought that you were unique, and belonged only to yourself, but it was a club that a lot of us would have liked to have belonged to. :)

It's true, you're actually too cool for this site, but it would suffer if you left. Sure, it would carry on, as it would if any of us left, but it wouldn't be the same. You add honesty, style, humor, and wisdom. You add it on YOUR terms. We appreciate it.

I've been edited, even by a mod who knows me elsewhere, on a smaller, more intimate site. I guess I just trusted her enough, along with Maria, that anything they edited (and they have edited quite a lot! :D) that they knew what they were doing. Of course, I probably said stuff that was pretty obnoxious (as could be expected of me) but sometimes I said something that I believed held merit, and then it was edited and I said, "Oh! Okay...I guess I went a bit too far."

Anyway, I see moderating as such a tough, thankless job, and it's not like the pay's great or anything! :D Just don't disappear. You know what they say about this place..."You can check out anytime you like...but you can never leave!"

You've been my sister judge for so many months now, I feel as though we could elect each other to the Supreme Court !

I can't tell you how much fun it has been at Webcam. It would be impossible to go on with that show without you. We have put it to rest (although I'm sure those guys won't put anything else to rest)!

I am really going to miss you. Not only at Webcam, but for all of the other, witty, intelligent, thoughtful posts your absense will deny us. Please keep in touch.
