Spam/Spyware?

Does anyone else get their homepage on their web browser changed while on this site? For some reason I keep getting this spyware message even though I'm constantly clearing my cookies, and using my ad-aware. And it seems like this has been the only site i've really been to out of my regular surfing routine.

I was just curious if anyone else is experiencing the same thing?

I was getting those but a friend of mine cleaned it. I don't know where it came from, but it was not from Ageless. I suspect it was from a gifs site.

Do a search for a free proggie named "Spybot: Search and Destroy"...

It's free (thought they like donations made)....get all the updates for it and run it. To me, it's alot more thorough than AdAware and it will pick up things that it doesn't.

Also, run a virus scan on your computer. It's possible you picked one up as well and that's what's changing your page.

Yes, Dan, I heard there are these kind of quite harmless virus which only do that.

The time people spend on these things. Honestly it just makes me hate this stupid page I get instead of my normal homepage.

I don't know if this would help, but at work I complained about pop-ups and the IT Department sent me a link to download a free program to prevent them. It is called PopUpStopper, but I don't remember what the link is. If anyone is interested, I can send it home to myself tomorrow. I am not at work today.

Spy Bot may actually be installing hidden files on your computer. Try going to adaware.com and downloading their program to see if there are any hidden "data miners" on your computer that companies use to trace where you've been on the internet... You'll be surprised! This program is completely free and will delete most of the files - I got three that keep coming back and I'm not quiet sure what to do about them except quarantine them each time...

If anybody knows how to rid these three, plz let me kno.

Spybot does not install any hidden files...

I got Spybot from watching TechTV's "Screensavers" and they are a very thorough and reputable show with reputable experts...

As long as when you start the program, you have it go out and search for the updates, you will be fine. I've had the program and have all the latest updates for it and it currently searches for over 10,000 different instances of spyware.

Between Spyboat and AdAware, I recommend Spybot, as it has caught things that AdAware hasn't. Even security holes and flaws for Windows Media Player and DSO exploits.

Tigerlilly, if you have three that keep coming back. It is probably a certain site you visit.

Spybot may actually take care of them. If it can't delete one it is probably because it is loaded in memory and can not be deleted 'cause it's open. Spybot will run on startup before Windows loads fully and will catch and delete them...

Since I work for the IT Department, I have to be careful which programs I use. And this program, Spybot, I've never had a complaint or problem with. And everyone I do sidework for love the program once I install it on thier system.

Thanx, Dan. The program that keeps installing is VX2.BETTERINTERNET and I don't think it's coming from a particular site but I don't know. I'll download Spy Bot and see what happens. :D

No problem Tigerlily..

Just as an FYI...I did a search for the VX2.BETTERINTERNET, supposedly the latest update to Spybot will get rid of that. It must be something fairly new...

So as long as you use the "update" function of Spybot, that should take care of it...

Glad to help and make PC's cleaner...*LOL*
