judith7 11-30-2003, 06:06 PM I'm new and am curious as to the average (and also the range) of age differences of folks who participate in this forum. Whose got the biggest one? <giggle> Mine is 34 years - I am 36, he is 70.
I look forward to chatting, offering and most definitely receiving advice!
Judith
MerAlove23 11-30-2003, 06:27 PM I welcomed you in your first post but Welcome again!!!!!!!
My husband is 17 years older than me... I am 28 and he is 45.... very much in love and baby on the way!!!
Good Luck to you both... Do what makes YOU happy!!!
TheChosen1 11-30-2003, 06:46 PM CONGRADULATIONS Judith. I think, so far, you've topped the chart of longest age gap in a marriage/relationship on our board.
I am same as MerAlove. Me and /A/ are 17 years apart. I'm 41 and she's a newly made 24. I was 37 and she was 20 when we met.:p
judith7 11-30-2003, 07:22 PM Thanks for your double welcome MerAlove! and for your reply TheChosen1. I spent a day skirting around this forum before posting and recall seeing a post somewhere which mentioned a couple of people with 30+ year age gaps. I've participated in a couple of other age-gap forums and this one seems, by far, to be the friendliest and quickest to reply! I have made a few friends on the other sites and will invite them here.
I really enjoy reading the dynamics of these relationships -certainly because mine is so new and I have so many questions about where we are going and what we're going to do once we get there! Okay, well I really, really miss my guy -just wrote him a long letter and DID ask some of things that you suggested MerAlove. I have found much solace in the success of the couples on these forums. Your posts are a calming pill to me. God, I miss my guy. :(
Thanks!
Judith
MerAlove23 11-30-2003, 07:50 PM Judith.. let us know how it turns out ok..... I will pray for a success story!!!!
rollsharley 11-30-2003, 08:01 PM Judith,
Hello and welcome to the site.
Myself and SmilinGal19 are a 22 year gap. I'm 41 and she 19. Hope you find some good advice here on the boards and looking forward to hearing your input as well.
Don
P.S. I think the largest gap here at this point is Muse and her guy though?
judith7 11-30-2003, 08:21 PM What's the age gap between Muse and her guy? Also, me and my guy seem to be like the "oldsters" on the forums I've visited. hmmm... (36/70) :)

I think you're right, Judith.
And please be careful where you proclaim us to being the friendliest forum. You may ruin our bad reputation.........LOL.:D
judith7 11-30-2003, 08:55 PM Your secret is safe with me ;)

I'm not sure exactly I think Muse is like 21? but her guy shes dating is 69 I am sure of. There are a few members in older brackets of age here but not too many that post often.
I'm not gonna say so-in-so is .........old though...lol. Just that you should be able to find a few others in your same age group.
Still feel free to join right in Judith.
Don
judith7 11-30-2003, 09:40 PM Wow! 21(?) and 69! That's awesome. I love to see these big spreads working. :) I know how good it feels to be with my guy. Don't notice the age difference at all. Not so far.
Also, at 36 I don't feel so old and, well, I HAVE joined in. :)
thanks,
j
yes, I am 21, and he is 69..... yeah, sounds strange, doesn't it? but somehow it works.
He is great; we've been dating for 3 months now. Sometime I will share some pictures, but I will have to get them developed first....
~Muse
oh, yeah, and to answer your question on who has the biggest one--I am pretty sure that I have the biggest one, with a 48 year difference.....
I should get a prize or something.
judith7 11-30-2003, 10:47 PM Hi Muse,
A couple of years ago, I might have thought your age-gap sounded strange. Actually, it's nice to have met someone with a larger age-gap than mine! SO, was your getting together slow or did all the pieces just fall into place quickly for the two of you? And, I HAVE to ask! My guy is 70 and I'm really curious (and eager ;)) about sex. Have you gone there yet?
Good Luck!
judith
judith7 11-30-2003, 10:51 PM You should definitely get an award for having the biggest one!!
j
Actually, it moved kind of fast. I met him off some dating site--and then, from then on, we just kind of clicked. I enjoy his company mucho, and he fit pretty much all of what i wanted in a man, except for the age thing, which I did not realize initially because he kind of misled me in that department, but that is a different story.
Oh, yeah, he is GREAT in bed....and we use toys...
and he is very passionate.....and I don't think we've had any problems, other than finding a condom to fit him.
Tom is a crazy guy. I love the idiot lots--not that he is an idiot literally--the truth is of the matter is he is quite intelligent because he is a professor, but you know what i mean. He is just such a goofball.
anyway, feel free to pm me if you want to know more...
~Muse
judith7 11-30-2003, 11:04 PM Sounds great! I hate that my guy is SO far away now. Well, I should receive a letter from him in the next week or so- we're on a schedule. GOD, how G-rated! But, it is better than nothing.
And when he returns, I hope that I can share tales of woe like your own -"having trouble finding a condom to fit!!!!" LOL
Is your guy still working? My guy is a retired professor! He is also an artist/craftsman which is what he is busy with now in his far-away home. :(
j
Judith,
What did your guy teach?
yes, tom still teaches evolutionary bio....and i don't think he ever wants to retire because he likes what he does so much. Like your guy, tom is one of those creative types who likes building stuff, and he is rather artistic, too.
~Muse
judith7 11-30-2003, 11:18 PM My guy taught English. I LOVE his letters, he is so beautifully literate. That was actually the initial attraction between us. Well, sort of -long story. Anyway, we had know one another for a couple of years and just by chance began e-mailing each other while he was in town and had access to a computer. And we really loved reading and writing e-mails to one another (my college ed was also heavily English laden). Through this we discovered that we have EVERYTHING ELSE IN THE WHOLE WORLD
judith7 11-30-2003, 11:19 PM in common! Sorry, got excited and lost my thread <giggle>
Okay, so he is great. Perfect for me and I think I'm perfect for him. I guess time will tell.

RLFORD 12-01-2003, 12:43 AM There is a 10 yr. difference between my SO and I. At fisrt I was really paranoid about the difference, but honestly, I'm in love with the guy and the closer you get, the less the age gap seems to matter.
My SO (an Englishman with an American woman!) and I have been with eachother for 9 months. He is a great companion and our age gap is within the "limits of what society would consider normal" (I quote from someone- not that society should matter. But it does make it easier on the relationship to know that people are rooting for us)
God bless you all! Happy Holidays!
RLFORD 12-01-2003, 12:45 AM Oh yeah-
I'm 20 and he is 30............ an engineer with a soon to be high school english teacher (next sept 2004-2005 1st year uggghhh!!!!! I'm really excited, I promise!

We had to pry the prize from Judith's hands because she refused to accept 2nd Place......LOL
But you're right, you've won.

PinkPanther_04 12-01-2003, 01:19 PM I'm 24 and SomeNight is 39, so technically there are 15 years between us, though it certainly doesn't seem like it (even when bratty teenagers try to spoil our fun! - Oops, wrong thread! :D)

MerAlove23 12-02-2003, 07:36 AM Judith we try very hard to keep it this way... I love this forum.... You get the best advice... even if it's not what you want to hear we say it with love..
lucysmith 12-02-2003, 09:34 AM With a 33 year age gap I am not often beaten, but you guys have managed it! I am 27 and my husband is 60, we have been together for four years now. I first consulted this forum back then to get advice and see how other people coped with an age gap. I certainly have no regrets ;-)

LucySmith, you mentioned consulting this site early on for advice and you've now been married for four years :) Did you and your SO get off to a slow start or did things just fall into place like they did for Muse?

judith7 12-02-2003, 07:45 PM Hi Kay (foolforlove),
I'm curious as to how you and your SO handle being so far apart. My and mine are on opposite sides of the US for six months out of the year. :(

Hi Judith,
we talk online and on the phone almost everyday, sometimes only for half an hour but other times we can talk for hours, it just depends what other things either of us have to do that day, having an 11 hour time difference makes it difficult sometimes. Another thing we do is send each other care packages, just with little things like a photo, a letter, i usually put him some sweets in every parcel I send him because the kind I send he can't buy in Australia, if I start wearing a different perfume I'll spray a little onto a handkerchief or something and send that too, so he can take it out and smell it if he's feeling lonely and know I'm thinking of him.
I think what gets us through it all mainly though is that we have very good communication between us, if either of us are worried about anything we talk it through, we trust each other completely and even though he knows he doesn't have to tell me anything he always tells me if he's going anywhere and one of his female friends are going with him. It's his way of showing me that he's not like the other guys I've been involved with. We both find it really hard at times but know that because we have this special love we can get through it, and one day we will be together permanently. Take care and if you ever need to talk feel free to pm me.
ladiebug 12-11-2003, 02:20 AM My husband - as of 10-10-2003 and I have a 37 year age gap...he is 60 and I am 23, almost 24. We met 4 years ago and it was a long distance rel for about 4 years while I was in the midwest/Indianapolis, IN finishing college and he lives on the coast in southern oregon/northern calif.... - I graduated in May of 2002 - we got engaged in December of 2002 - and married this October...the years of going back and forth during breaks and even when there were no breaks was awful and painful - but thank goodness it is all behind us...I thuoght I'd never see the day...but I have...
judith7 12-11-2003, 07:05 AM Hi ladibug,
Thanks for your story! Four years must have felt like forever. "Painful and awful," are a perfect description of LDRs. How did you and your husband meet? Did either or both of you have serious age-gap issues to resolve?
