Thanks RLFORD!

During the holidays I tend to get all emotional. Just last night, on my way home, there was a man on the street. It was about 10pm and no one around but me...he tried to wave me down....he was pointing to a gas can....I kept driving. My gut feeling told me to keep going, I didn't know who the man was or his intentions....but I got all emotional and cried because we live in such a world where one can't pull off the side of the road to help a fellow man with out being judgemental. *sigh*

But on a lighter note...this is a time for family and friends...and so far I am having a great holiday!!! :D

~Evett

P.S. I (along with RLFORD) wish all the Ageless members and the ones close to their hearts a happy holiday :)

I agree with you, Evett and it's a damn shame. I remember a while back that happened to a guy in Metairie, La. He and his family saw a guy broken down on the side of the highway and stopped to give him a hand. He ended up getting ambushed by a group of men hiding in the shrubs. He was robbed and killed. It didn't take long to find the robbers though because they picked the wrong person to rob. He was a State Senator candidate.

I hadn't heard anything yet, but I'll probably spend Christmas with family. If not, there's a Denny's up the block from me where I can treat myself to Christmas dinner.

If I'm lucky, I can hook up with Ms. A and there be more than chessnuts roasting over an open fire that day......LOL.

That's so sad...see...what kind of world is this!?

Anyway, I hope your Christmas turns out to be wonderful...no matter what you do ;)

And Emcad, you certainly did the right thing in that case. I would probably have gotten emotional too. The way we live makes me very sad sometimes.

I did though want to give a glimmer of hope by telling this little story. My roommate in college and I went to her house on Long Island for spring break our Freshman year in college. Her mom picked us up at the airport and we started out. About 45 minutes away from the airport (roommate and I were zonked out), she pulls the car over to the side of the freeway. There is something wrong with the car and it just died. It is 11:30 at night, we are on a Long Island freeway in March - 3 women. So, her mother decides to walk back to the nearest overpass because there was a gas station there. We both begged her not to - we said no one should leave the car, but she insisted, and she went.

10 minutes later, headlights pull up behind us and someone gets out of the car. As he comes closer, we can see that he is wearing a black leather jacket and has long stringy hair. Not the most savory character. Then 3 other guys start walking toward the car. My roommate and I are freaking out by this time.

Until

Her mom walks up and says "these men say they can help us". So, the first guy gets in the car, opens up the hood, fiddles around, then goes back to his car and gets something, and comes back, fiddles around again. Voila - the car works. He says, "Well, the fix is only temporary, and it could break again at any time, so we will just follow you home to make sure you make it alright." Now, I was nervous again. But, they did follow us home, and as soon as we got there, they took off again waving. My roommate's mother running after them begging to pay them a reward or at least a cup of coffee or something. Apparently, they were auto mechanics on their way home from some auto show or convention in the city, and they really were simply good samaritans.

Does that help your vision of humanity a little bit? :-)

MadBess....what a wonderful story.

I wish I could trust people more....but I'm a mall person and I get nervous and scared. Here's a good one for you!

I was 8 years old...my Dad and I were on the freeway in his (which later turned into my) Nissan Pathfinder. A few yards a head of us we saw this car spin out...I know it wasn't raining, but I can't quite remember what happened to make her spin out.

My Dad stopped and offered her a ride to the nearest gas station. She said no at first. Then he said that he had me w/ him and he was harmless. She could keep her door unlocked and her hand on the handle if she wanted to. So she got in and we took her to a gas station....she was very thankful and knowing my Dad did that for someone was awesome!
