I got fired today! They fired my brother a few months ago for marrying a chic who used to work there. Then she went to the company's "competition" and is working for them. They wanted me out of there so they used a poor excuse to get me fired! We had a company party this past Friday, and I was pissed because my department didn't get recognized for anything!!! So I was cussing and saying that we deserved more. Well, some people who don't like me said that I was telling the president to "F" off and doing other things I didn't do. So, the company gave me a resignation letter and would write me a nice letter of recommendation to any potential employers!!! I disagreed but thought about what they did to my brother and what they will do to my future brother-in-law (he's been my lil' sister's boyfriend for over a year and we got him a job there. Now, they are gonna take it out on him!). The reason my ex-company is pissed is because morale is so low and people are quitting to go work at my sister-in-law's company down the road. They think I have something to do with that, but I don't and never did!!! So when I left, I told EVERYONE TO "F" OFF AND LEFT TO THE GYM TO LIFT 405 LBS IN THE DEADLIFT FOR 5 REPS!!!!!!!!!
The funny thing is, the president of the company works out at MY gym and I was waiting for him today. That pansy never showed up, but now that I'm without a job, I'll be there everyday waiting for his sorry a$$!!!
In the meantime, Peachy is keeping me calm.

Joe, that sucks! If they fired you, they owe you severance pay. Maybe you and Peachy can take time off and go someplace to relax and have some fun!:)

But at least this gives you a chance to make a fresh start
in 2004 --- with a brand new job. ;)

I'll be out there pounding the pavement with ya!

Oh don't worry Polly, Peachy and I are going to Disney World next week, and we're gonna show them what "older women/younger men" are all about!!!

And to top it all off, we're gonna have "fantasies through Fantasyland, and adventures through Adventureland, and . . . new frontiers in New Frontierland!!!"

Harrison, you and I need to go out, have a few smokes of grass and say, "F YOU TO ALL THE EMPLOYERS" out there and be our own boss! Though, I am in Psychology school right now trying to obtain my doctorate!!!

Man, that sucks that you got fired, especially with all the other crap that went on there. It'll be better in the long run, though. That sounds like it was a really bad company to work for.

BTW, what school do you go to?

I am finishing up at Brookhaven College and then transferring to Argosy University School of Professional Psychology across the street from SMU.

Sorry you lost your job, Joe. My sister just got fired right before Thanksgiving. She caught the President siphoning off the top and went to the board? They fired her. . .big business sucks big time.

Bummer, Joe:( It sounds like it was a lousy environment to work in, though. You don't need to put up with that kind of garbage any longer. Hopefully, you'll soon find a job in a company that recognizes and values the work of good employees.

Yeah, sorry here too, Joe :(

Still, really sounds like a lousy environment - bad morale in a company is usually due to bad management and a general mobbing culture - pretty much what you are describing ...

The important thing is to keep in mind it is not your fault, that you can and will do better and that they are going down the drain sooner or later anyway with that corporate culture - believe me, they always do :p

Little comfort tho, now that you got to look for something else, I know, but keep in mind, you never know what good might come out of any bad ;) so keep the faith and go right ahead and vent your anger in the gym ;)

Actually, should tell this to my guy too, sounds like a good anger management approach :D

It does sound like you're better off not working in that environment. You're a bright guy, and if you're half as personable f2f as you are on here, I'm sure you can charm your way into the job of your choice!

but you know the story...when one door opens a window is left open inviting you in...there's a party going on, come on in...lol

I was laid off about 9 years ago from a job I had been in about 6 years...but I had saved so much money, I didn't go back to work for 5 years. It was fantastic. did a lot of traveling, my nephew was born at that time and took him around. It was great.

So keep your chin up. Stay focus.

Boy, what a bad thing that is.....can I ever relate. I got fired, first time in my life!, about 2 1/2 years ago, it's a big blow to have happen to ya when you never did get canned before.....but, I have been bustin a!@ for that time now, trying to get the "full time, benefits job" - well, got it alright, hate the women there. What a dilema huh? But, I know what you mean about fired, it has such a blow to it, even though you know you are soooo much better off. Keep hanging in there, things will work out for what you need to do. It is rough, but, hey, I know ya can do it! Good luck.

Not bad, bro. It seems like I have someone to workout with when I return to the weights......LOL

Seriously Joe, I'm sorry to hear that. I wish the best for you, dude.

I got it real bad too. When I was with the police department back home, my oldest brother was on the force years before me and he used piss off alot of people, especially the ranks. By the time I got on the force, my name was already MUD because of him. Many who knew us both could tell that we were both different but others (those who disliked him already) could care less about knowing me.

Now I work at a company where my older brother recently retired from. He pissed people off because, like me, he sticks to the books and shows NO favoritism. Prior to his retiring, he told me "Be careful because alot of people who didn't like me may give you alot of $hit now." So I'm screwed either way.
