Hi Friends~
Not sure if you noticed I have been absent from the boards a couple days- the flu laid me out!!

I caught it a week ago Thursday and at first, I thought it was just the usual type cold/flu that we have all had a million times.
Well, it is NOT!!

Here in my state of Washington, the flu is speading like wild-fire!
If you can get the flu vaccine - GET it ASAP!
You do not want to suffer what I have!

The body aches have been the most severe that I have ever experienced, not to mention just the general horrid "yuckiness" that over-takes your whole body.
It's awful!

I am feeling a little better today, but sweating it out like a pig!
I was taking some antibiotic at the time I came down with this because of an infected tooth and I am not sure if that kept any respiratory infection at bay or not.
I didn't suffer any terrible respiratory problems, but did my share of coughing and blowing my nose.

I just wanted to warn you about this flu.
Get vaccinated now!

Unfortunately, I've been right there too, Sage . . . I've been laid up with it since Wednesday evening. Finally yesterday morning I went to the doctor because the sore throat was killing me. Turns out I had the flu and strep throat. :(

But I got a shot that made me feel like a new person so I think I might live now. :)

They have a shot to make this better?
Oh drat!
I'm feeling better today, so will not be going to the Dr.

I think the antibiotic I was taking kept the strep throat from taking hold of me, as everyone I know here that got this horrible flu also came down with the strep.
Haven't heard of anyone being given a "miracle shot" though.
Most have been given antibiotics and some lucky dogs got pain pills.
I'm trying to keep my medical bills down, so I decided to stay away from the Dr's office.
I should have went.
If I get any worse, I AM going.

Glad you are feeling better Peachy!!

This has been the nastiest bug I've EVER had!

Hi Sage,

I had my flu shot after Halloween and I still caught it last week. The funny thing was I had it during my finals and I knew I can't miss my finals. :)

I had the flu shot back in October as well. And am thankful to God that I did. My daughter was so ill for the past 5 days with the flu. She is just now getting better, poor kid. The pediatrician's office did not even recommend bringing her into the office to be seen because there truly is nothing that can be done for the flu. I understand there's a new antiviral injection that is available for adults, but her pediatrician's office is not giving that to the kids. Maria -- do you know anything about this injection? May be called Flumed??

Anyway, my son had it last week while at college and he came home for the weekend and still feels lousy.

As for me, being around two sick kids all weekend, I am beginning to come down with something, but so far, I believe my flu vaccine is helping me fight it off because all I have right now is a slight cough. Nothing at all like I have felt when I had the flu before. That was a week that I can only vaguely recall because I felt like I was dying.

Thank God for the flu vaccine. And Sage is right... if you haven't gotten the vaccine, you better get it if you can.

I do not take shots such as these.

My imune system has been fantastic for 30 years. I take calcium, Vit C, Olive Leaf Extract and more. People coughing, sneezing, sweating, you name it have come into the shop for years... my partner has been ill, everyone around me has been ill.

I just seem to keep sailing along (no pun intended). The worst I ever have had in many many years was a first day onset, one night sleep... all better.

Now, I'll go find some wood to knock on:D

I feel so sorry for you guys. Like Salt, I don't get flu shots because I am pretty healthy. I just get occasional little colds. It has been 23 years since I last had the flu, but I will never forget it. I absolutely could not move. My throat was in agony. Since I had a little cough, I had to try to suppress it because my throat hurt so badly and therefore would almost choke to death. I suspect that I may have had strep throat. At the time, I didn't really know anything about strep, so didn't go to the doctor.

We are practically out of flu vaccine here, but may get a new shipment soon. My son hasn't gotten his shot yet. He needs it because he has a chronic lung condition.

Be careful with strep. My mother got nephritis many years ago because of having strep and not treating it. It caused kidney damage.
