Okay, great trivia question for all you history, culture
and geography buffs. Good practice for the 'Jeopardy'
TV show.

No cheating: See if you can answer the question
without doing an Internet search to find the answer. ;)

Which country in Africa:

- has German as one of its ethnic languages

- has a capital city where you can get by with
speaking only German

- celebrates Oktoberfest throughout the nation??

I'll post the answer in a couple of days if nobody
guesses. (Let's see if Carazy knows this one. :D)

Ok, totally got to guess here ;)

Germany never had many colonies, that should narrow it down - mind you, if it's some small obscure one, you definitely got me there ;)

The most well-known one used to be Namibia, so that's what I would guess ;) At least I know from some Travel Show that you still get by there in German ;)

Don't know about it being any ethic language there nor about the other things you mentioned, lol

DING-DING-DING-DING!

Give that lady her 60-million-Euro prize! :D :p

You got it right exactly.

Other interesting tidbits about Namibia:

* It has the only daily German-language newspaper
on the African continent, the Allgemeine Zeitung Namibia.

http://www.az.com.na/az/index.html

* Like Arizona, it is a hot, desert, dry country. The
Namib desert is the world's oldest desert.

* White people are about 6% of the population.
Mixed-race Namibians are 6.5% and blacks are
87.5% of the population

* It's the first country in the world to incorporate the
protection of the environment into its constitution; some
14% of the land is protected, including virtually the entire
Namib Desert coastal strip
