We got our Christmas tree up yesterday
and the kids had fun decorating it.
I will be "rearranging" the ornaments today
and then I am going to take a pic of it to show you all.
I will place it here.

I thought it might be fun for all of us
to place pictures of our trees here for all to see!
And please feel free to place any kind of pictures here
of your home Christmas decorating.

I can't wait to see your tree and other holiday trimmings!</FONT>

If you can give me some directions on how to upload a picture without it having to be an attachment, I'd love to share a pic with everyone of my Christmas tree.

Yes, directions, please. I'm afraid I'm quite inept at this kind of stuff. Hopefully, we'll be able to borrow Robin's sister's good digital camera. I could have Robin stand in front of the tree wearing nothing but a Santa hat! :D

Ok. I can't figure out how to upload the pic to here. So, here's a link to my page in the photo album. The picture is a little blurry, but I thought it was such a pretty picture as it's so colorful.

By the way, don't laugh at my board under the tree that I had to place there for stabilization after the tree crashed last weekend onto my coffee table. I hadn't even gotten my tree skirt back under it when I took this picture!

12/16/03: EDIT: I followed Dan and Sage's advice and guess what! It worked! yay!

Beautiful tree, Babes. I love that color scheme.

I think that's a great idea about the posters, Babes. It's a Wonderful Life is one of my all time favorite movies.

My ornaments are a huge conglomeration that I have collected for the past 21 years. Each year I buy at least 1 dated ornament that represents either a place we visited, or some significant event that occurred throughout the year. In 21 years, I have not broken a single ornament until this year when my tree fell over (probably too heavy with ornaments!!). I lost 2 dated ones. But, have already found a replacement on ebay for it and it's already on the tree. The other one was for 1997 and I feel fairly certain I have another one on the tree already for 1997, but I simply cannot tell because I have so many. If I don't find one, I plan to find something on ebay again for that year that might work well.

But, the thing I love best about my tree is like you said... so many of them have such a special meaning. Such great memories with each and every one. I enjoy so much sitting and looking at all the various ornaments and reminiscing.

Thanks for sharing the pics of your beautiful Christmas trees!
I love the blue and white theme too Babes and I hope that I can do that some year.

Whiterose, so sorry your tree crashed on you!
I had that happen one year, but luckily I didn't lose any ornaments.
I am glad you were able to find another on eBay and hope you find the other one too!

I have a pic of mine.
I am not that pleased with how it turned out, but it shows you how it looks.
I'll see if I can take a better shot in the days to come.
In the pic with our tree is my daughter Sarah and granddaughter, Trinity.
Sarah wouldn't look at the camera cause she didn't have her make up on.
*silly girl*

Also, the red yarn bows that I had written about for our tree have been retired. Sarah thought they were looking rather "ratty" and as much as I hated to admit it, I had to agree with her.
We now put ready-made red bows on the tree to remind us of that Christmas 16 years ago.

I'll post some other shots of my Christmas decorations as the weeks goes on.

Here is our tree!</FONT>

To post an image on the boards using an outside image host:

First you need an outside image host. You cannot link to images stored on your computer. The best place to look for image hosting is through your ISP. If they offer space, use it. . . you're already paying for it.
I use Homestead

Things to remember when uploading (storing) images to your host:
- URLs (the address of your image) are case sensitive. Try to use all lower case letters when creating your file names.
- Do not use spaces or special characters when creating your file names.
- If you need to separate words use only the - or _ characters.
- Be sure to save your images with a .jpg or .gif file extension.

When I tried to type in my directions, the codes weren't showing, so I found this page.
It gives great advice on getting images in your posts.
And this page is found at Ageless too!

Good Luck!

Sage pretty much got it correct...

As for outside hosting...pretty much, Homestead is one of the few that will still allow hotlinking (posting images on outside sites)...you can ALSO use www.ecomplanet.com

If you use them, it's the "image library" option once you log in...

The easiest way to post an image...is right click on the image, and go to "Properties"...and then hightlight the URL/Address and copy it...

When you go to post it...you can either

a) Use the img button above the reply box where you type your message in and paste the url in...

b) Use html which for image code is:

img src="PutURLhere" and put that whole thing in between < >

so, it would look like < img src="URL" > (Just eliminate the space after the < and before the >

As a side note, you CAN use geocities to host your pictures. HOWEVER, after you upload the picture you must rename it...

Say it's Dan.jpg you MUST rename it (to get it to show up) as Dan.txt

Then, you paste the URL into the "img" code of your choice (either through the button this board or through HTML)

Also...I don't think it's possible to get the pictures from the photo album to show up on the board. I don't think MSN allows them to be hotlinked.

Hope that helps as well...

~Dan
