I received word yesterday that my favorite Aunt has been diagnosed with breast cancer. She said a part of her breast felt different when she was performing a self exam. She said it didn't even feel like a lump, it just felt different. She figured she would let her Dr. know about it at her next visit. Well, here's the weird thing. She later went for a body massage at her favorite day spa. Her messuse, (I don't think I spelt that right) also practices hollistic medicine was massaging my aunt's foot when my aunt noticed that this one area of her foot felt sore. She mentioned it to the messuse. Her messuse said that in hollistic medicine, you can sometimes see what's ailing the body through different sections of the feet. Evidentally, the part of her foot that represents the breasts was where her messuse felt her pain was from. So can you imagine when she tells my aunt this? That was enough for my aunt to decide NOT to wait untill her next visit and she went home and made an appt. right then!
Anyways, long story short, she had a biopsy and it came back malignant. The Dr. is hopeful because it's small, less than a centimeter and due to the fact that she caught it early she has a good prognosis.
So, you know what I'm going to say...
Myself included.
Self Exams and Mammograms ladies!
Your prayers would be appreciated. You'ld love her too if you knew her!
Thanks, it would mean a lot!

hi Lisa, your aunt will be in my prayers. A lot of my family have had breast cancer so not only do I self examine but I have yearly check ups at the hospital too. One thing I do want to tell you though, my mum was found to have a lump during one of her routine exams and it turned out to be malignant. She had to have a mastectomy but apart from that shes now all clear and this was about 8 years ago. I just wanted to give you something positive to think about, I know its not easy though. Take care and if you need to talk to anyone then feel free to pm me

Lisa .....
My thoughts and my prayers are with you and your family.
My aunt had breast cancer and had a complete masectomy.... I will pray that she is ok and well!!!!
Hang in there!!
Ahhh...thank you all so much for your kind words and prayers. I'm trying to stay optomistic about my Aunt's diagnosis, although it's hard at times being that both my Aunt's mother and Aunt both died of breast cancer. Needless to say, my aunt is quite scared, but she is educating herself with all kinds of research while she awaits more test results. One test has showed that she has had the lump for appx. 5 years. However, her Dr.'s say it's a slow growing tumor. So, in the mean time, we just keep praying and try to stay optomistic.
Thank you again so much, it means so much to me.

Lisa, I will pray for your aunt. As it's a slow growing tumour, I am sure her chances will be much better.
Now it's important to remember that the self examination, and even the doctor's manual examination often misses real small tumours. That's why mammography is so important, especially from age 40.
First, I wanted to thank you again for your prayers and good wishes.
Second, I want to update you on my Aunt's condition. She went in for a lumpectomy on Wed. and everthing went better than expected. Her tumor was removed and it appears that the cancer was contained, it had not spread at all. All her limph nodes were clear! Wooo Hoooo! She's home resting, and very relieved!
