insearch 01-17-2004, 07:49 PM Okay I am looking..as we all all... for the Quick fix!! I am aware that there are not many out there. Though I work really hard on my body, my arms, my stomach, my weight.... blah blah blah.
Though I want those incrediable legs.. without having to have lipo..HA.
Seriously..nothing is working my legs are big and I am destined for cankles in the next 10 years. I am a jogger and that just bulks them up.. stair master..watch out. Though the moment I stop they become big and FLABBY!! AHHHHHHHHH HELP??
More areobic less weight? Combo? I dunno?
Insearch, are you saying that doing the stairmaster and jogging bulks them up? You must have good leg genetics in that anything and everything makes them muscular or bulky. I have many people come to me with that type of stuation, it's not a biggy. Have you tried the PRECORE: Elliptical Trainer? It bulks my legs up pretty good too, but at the same time, defines them and shapes them to a "T"!
How is your bodyfat percentage? Becuase if it's already low, let's say. . . 12% and under, then your just predisposed to having "muscular" legs genetically. Really nothing you can do about that, unless you just quit eating all together, but we don't wanna do that, as that only harms the body and will make you look grotesque.
What is your workout/training like? Eating habits?
insearch 01-17-2004, 10:08 PM Joe,
Thanks for the reply.. I haven't really tried the Elliptical Trainer, though I will give it a go. I not a gym person as I usually just jog and do stairmaster at home along with free weights for my arms and thighs. My body fat percentage is normal I guess, I haven't had it done in a while. Though I range from 155-165 in the course of a year depending on weights. I am 5'11.
The problem is defining my legs..the are just big and yes they totally bulk up fast, though in the same sense I will lose the bulk if I don't work them out. Make sense?
I am a calorie girl and watch fat. I am not into fad diets. I try not to do refined sugar. On days that I work out which is 4 times a week I will consume 1500 calories a day. Days I don't work out I consume 1100.
So I got screwed in the genetics field... no boobs and big legs!!
:D
Sounds like you have good eating habits. :)
Okay, if you can try the eliptical trainer at a gym, go for it! To get one personally will run you in the hundreds or maybe even $1,000.00. Either way, do high endurance type training for example, run 5 miles, or do high rep leg extensions for sets of 25 reps using light weights and focusing on peak contraction. Squats, leg presses, and lunges are out! Unless you need to build more muscle. Try power-walking for about 30-45 minutes two to three times a week along with the other suggestions and see what the results bring, but remember to give it some time.
High-endurance type training will faithfully define the legs. Remember to eat right, drink lots of water, and train. It's the combination of eating healthly and working out that brings results, not one or the other. But I won't insult your intelligence and assume that you know how to eat. Now let's get to it!!! :D
TheChosen1 01-18-2004, 02:54 AM Since the stair master works the legs and glutes alot, you may want to consider riding a bike. If you'd like insearch, you can join a gym for just a few months and use the Life Fitness Life Cycle. That should be able to work alot of size off of your legs, unless if it's muscles. Another possibility is the Life Fitness Cross Trainer.
obsessing 01-22-2004, 08:37 AM Insearch - I know what you mean about the step machines building up your legs. I found it counterproductive. Who wants big calf muscles? Not me - I am interested in being a lean, mean, fighting machine! When I work out I won't do anything that will build up my calves.
I'm interested in reading these replies. Good to hear from ohters that have achieved success in various areas. Thanks for posting this thread.
insearch 01-22-2004, 04:14 PM The advice has been helpful… I still jog 5 miles though I changed to a track at the local high school that doesn’t have elevations as my normal route does. It is a bit monotonous though I am giving it a try. Like you I am looking for trim and lean not muscular. I also tried the elliptical and I like the work out. We shall see
SnowPrincess 01-23-2004, 01:55 AM Hi Insearch, a great leg trimming program is at T-Tapp Legs (http://ttapp.com/articles/legs/)
I have the tapes, they are wonderful!!
The Main site is T-Tapp.com (http://ttapp.com/home/default.asp)
Hope this helps

insearch 02-05-2004, 09:01 PM Just an update...though a good one. Okay I am jogging 5 plus miles at a track (ugh) everyday, though with this there is not an incline. Then doing the eliptical at the gym, again cardio not too much on my legs.
So a little over 2 weeks and 1 inch lost from each. I really don't care if I am losing muscle here cause they look a lot better without.
Thanks for the comments and suggestions I will keep with the workout. Though the strangest thing about this is that I have also dropped 5 lbs and haven't even tried. In fact I added red meat back into my diet this month??
Go figure... anyway .. I have an event next week and I am pulling out the thigh length crochet dress that I have been dying to wear!!!!!!!!!!

You need not worry, insearch. I doubt if you're losing any muscle. For one, you're using your hamstrings (rear leg muscles) and quads (front thigh muscle) in the jogging. If you can incorporate some weight training, your legs will look super, like a gymnist or tennis player. As for your unattempted weight loss, CONGRATULATIONS. It comes with the territory of exercise...........LOL
Feel free to email, PM, or YIM me if you need any more help.
insearch 02-05-2004, 10:16 PM Thanks choosen and nice to see you around again!
*Puts the scissors down*...*grin*
You can keep yours.....:D :D :D
