a *really* special valentine's gift

So I'm thinking....

Chocolates and Flowers are pretty worn out (though lovely)....
...and guys don't really go for that anyway, right?
What are you getting him?
A shirt? Some clothing? Making dinner?

I'm thinking creatively for this year....
I'm thinking international purchase.
We have the web and most sites have an english language side....

I thought of this because my ym got me something that touched my heart deeply for christmas, and it was pretty oddball...

When I was 17/18, I was and exchange student in Helsinki, Finland. I never really told him *too* much about that year, but he remembers that fact about me.
One of my gifts was two philately books from Finland's 2003 postal collection. The displays are beautiful, and I am still blown away. It meant so much.

With what *thing* does Your Love hold interest?

Fishing? How about a lure from another country for a fish that can't be caught in your country (but of course, YOU are that fish!)

Another sport? (Golf, football, tennis) again, something unique that cannot be obtained easily in your country.

Do they play a musical instrument? Are they foolishly (in a fun-goofy way of the word) infatuated with something that you cannot fathom what they see in it?
Get info. Do research. Find out its origins and CREATE!

Valentine's can seem like a made-up holiday for so many, especially guys. Let's take this chance to show that we really do consider the interests of our other half!

AND> What are the typical traditions of your country for this holiday?

*note* International shipping charges for something relatively small really doesn't have to cost much...

What are your thoughts on this Valentine's Day to be???

Great ideas Kerri!

I'm not giving a special gift this year
as I don't have a sweetheart to give a gift to.
*sniff*
:(

Oh well.....
I will get some little token gifts for my kids
and probaby something special
for my granddaughter.
I may not have a man in my life right now
to express my love to-
but I have my children and that is very fine with me!!

I usually make some kind of sinful and delicious
goodie for after dinner on Valentine's Day and some
years I might even make a special dinner.
Don't think I'll do the dinner this year, but will
make something sweet and fattening!
(with chocolate of course!)

I get rather bombarded with birthdays this time of year-
so have a lot of gifts to give before Valentine's Day.
My son, Lucas, will be 16 this coming Thursday, (22nd),
my daughter's fiance, Chris, will be 25 on the Friday, (23rd),
a dear friend has a birthday on the 28th and my daugher,
Brianna, will be 17 on Feb. 6th.
Whew!

I dope you have a dandy Valentine's Day Kerri!
